But FOUR grinders!?
(1) espresso
(2) pour-over
(3) press
(4) redundancy in case of failure!
This is basic coffee brewing!

Of course... this makes perfect sense.
Once again my ignorance regarding basic coffee knowledge is on display for all to see.
It's so embarrassing!
I was thinking he is (appropriately) very careful about heat, so:

Ahah! But we still need some redundancy in the case of failure! Better make it a round 10 grinders to be safe.

Sure looks like it!
This makes me want to brew another cup, but I have to catch the train soon.
Perhaps I should invest in a travel mug....
Good morning! That makes me want one now. Too bad I'm at work and separated from my machine.
Drink one for me!
Aahhhh!
A beauty!
Definitely time to go pull (!! ) a double shot!
"Did it get any better... or did you just get used to it?"

Does anyone else remember that commercial? What brand was it for? Folgers? Tasters Choice? Something else? And better yet, point me to a YouTube video of it...
How is it coming with the Londinium, taste wise?
The important, key details must be addressed at the outset. So, first of all, allow me to congratulate you on what is clearly an increasing mastery of something you are already exceedingly proficient at - namely, pulling an espresso (or two).
Secondly, well, the Londinium (and yes, I love that name, too), is clearly justifying its purchase, its price, and the sheer wonder of the splendour of its existence as it sits on your shelf, bestowing a benevolent blessing on the craft of producing the perfect espresso.
Now, to T-shirts. Personally, I wear them rarely, and ones with a logo, never. (Age, snobbery, the sheer tackiness of so many, not to mention the lousy - doubtless unethically acquired - quality of the tatty cotton that is invariably used in their manufacture - there are many reasons for my dislike....)........
My Other Brother has a partner, who is decent, German, logical, hard-working and is the bearer of a Master's in Marketing & Economics (along with a few other degrees besides).
Years ago, in that earnest, thoughtful German way, she observed that the world of t-shirt logos were an expression of utterly triumphalist capitalism.
"In the old days, they paid you - or newspapers, or TV, - for space to advertise their products. Now, you pay them - so they get advertising for free - and you are walking around advertising their product by wearing it, and paying for it!"
However, I will concede that if a T-shirt must be worn, black is the colour to choose; and if a logo must be emblazoned on it, why, then select a nice, elegant timeless font in which to write it; readers of this thread, (and countless others) will know my passion for elegant fonts (Garamond, Times New Roman, Arno, etc)....... so, yes, actually, a very nice t-shirt indeed......
As I mentioned, and in full agreement with you and your Other Brother's partner, I never wear logo T shirts...just plain black T shirts in the warmer months (which need to get here soon!).
I've just clearly lost all perspective over this espresso machine.
Thanks for asking.
More and more consistently good, to very good, shots. I think a dose of 16.5 - 17 GMs is optimal. The usual grind adjustments with each new blend/roast...very fine adjustments.
And a consistent 6-7 second pre-infusion, although when I go pull a shot in a few minutes, I'm going to go nuts and try a 9 second pre-infusion just to see what happens.
I wasn't going to show this, but I'm among friends!
First, I don't wear logo T shirts...I don't feel the need to be a walking billboard for some company. That said, I discovered that Londinium doesn't have a T shirt, so I had one made up for me by grabbing a screenshot of the logo off the website. We won't discuss how many copyright laws I've violated...but we'll keep my secret here.
The picture is lousy, so I also included a shot of the stolen logo, so the details are a bit more clear.

I purchased, well, leased, a new 2014 Ford Fusion SE this week. Why, you ask, am I telling you this in our espresso thread? It's because as I was reading the manual, on the iPad, which I downloaded from Ford's website, I saw an icon of a coffee mug on a couple of pages.
It turns out that the 'Driving Aids' section about 'Driver Alerts' is a system to determine the state of a drivers' alertness. The side with the steering wheel indicates that you're doing alright, and if the indicator is more towards the coffee mug, you may need to pull over for a double shot!
(My car doesn't have this particular option installed though)
First...major congratulations on the new car!
It's good to see that the appreciation for coffee, and it's...ah...side effects, is being disseminated in a wide variety of publications.
Nice to know that the car will anticipate your need for, and if it's very sophisticated, your desire for, some coffee. I'm very disappointed that it does not include a coffee production system, but I realize that may only being available in the super deluxe models.
Thanks!
Perhaps in 2 years when I turn this in, I can upgrade to the super deluxe model and get a nice E61 brew group machine installed in the car.
