It turns out that the 'Driving Aids' section about 'Driver Alerts' is a system to determine the state of a drivers' alertness. The side with the steering wheel indicates that you're doing alright, and if the indicator is more towards the coffee mug, you may need to pull over for a double shot!

(My car doesn't have this particular option installed though)

Hahaha, excellent. Next thing you know Nestle is going to team up with ford and start integrating those silly nespresso pods into the dash...

Oh man! I seem to recall various places around my area offering the opportunity to do some cuppings. I ought to check those out if I ever find the time.

That's all I need....eventually.....my car grading my shots.

(Congrats on your new toy.)

Thanks!

Attending a cupping sounds like a cool thing. I, too, ought to watch for something like that in my area.

If they did that, I'd have to go for the upgraded package and get a real espresso machine with the E61brew group. Only the best for me!

It still amazes me the necessary adjustments every time I start a new roast batch. I just started a new batch, and found that I have to do a major adjustment in grind and dose. I had to make a significant increase in dosing…at least a whole gram, and a significant change in grind in the finer direction.

You’d think I wouldn’t be surprised by now…but each new blend/roast requires definite tuning and dialing in.

Regarding the posts by an unnamed poster here, whose mind is in the gutter, regarding the phallic look of my new machine, and the oh-so-subtle implication of a compensatory motivation, I can only say...shame, shame on you for such an accurate...er...inaccurate observation!

Kids, man! Always with their mind in the gutter!

Well, you know what they say...

Sometimes a phallic symbol is just a phallic symbol.

Regular readers of this thread know that I barely ever buy any accessories. Just a stripped down, back to minimal basics, crunchy granola type of guy.

However, on the rarest of occasions I might invest in an absolutely essential, can't-do-without-it accessory.

HG-one, maker of the grinder which I might have mentioned only once in the past, also makes PF cradles specifically for certain PFs...for E61 PFs, for 48mm PFs, and also for the Londinium I PF. (I might have mentioned the Londinium I once before in the past, too).

So this is the PF cradle, an absolute necessity, as you can tell...

I believe the appropriate adjective is snazzy!

Although I have been gifted with excellent recall, I find I am really wracking my brains to recollect these posts; did you really mention the HG-One, or a thingy named after the old Roman name for London? Really? How did I miss these discussions?

Anyway, an elegant PF cradle has been vouchsafed to us all - let us bestow our blessings on same. Very attractive, handsome is as handsome does.....Mind you, the PF itself is also a rather handsome piece of equipment; what wood is that handle made from, walnut perchance?

If you're over 40-45...it's the right adjective...and thanks!:D

If you're under 25, I think the word is sick.

Go figure...

Snazzy definitely works for me! Also the bees knees and the cat's pajamas.

Sick? As an adjective of wild praise? Well, you learn something new every day.

Hm. Language changes and all of that. I have heard the adjective 'wicked' used as a compliment (invariably by someone at least twenty years younger than I am). "Deadly" is another where my understanding of the expression would differ - drastically - from that used by (much) younger interlocutors.....

Since I'm 35, I don't fit in your predefined categories of words one should use to describe espresso accessories for each age group. What is the appropriate word to use for someone, like me, who is over 25, yet under 40?

First, it is understandable that you might not recall my mention of the various espresso equipment...it's my incredible understatement and subtlety that keeps it so low key.

All the wood on the machine, the various handles and the PF, are venge wood. I had never heard of that particular wood (not that that means much), and it is used mostly for furniture.

The word "wicked" may be used elsewhere, but it is almost stereotypically a New England usage. I really don't get "sick"...oh, those crazy kids!

'Venge' yielded nothing, when googled, but 'Wenge' (wood) which I do recall having heard about, indeed does.

(A very good friend of mine, who is German, - has a Ph.D in science, loves travel, coffee, cognac, science fiction, and history - sensible things - and who married an Irish chap I introduced her to, almost two decades ago, speaks utterly flawless, completely accentless idiomatic English. Except when alcohol, and hospitality and her two children - with whom I play Cluedo - intervene; at a dinner in their home a few months back, I remarked on her perfect accentless English. Her children snorted and said 'yeah, except when she says 'pass the wegetables, please'"....)

Oh, well, I must undertake some serious searches to refresh the evidently porous parts of my memory about HG-1, and um, Londinium; was there anything else (apart from cigars and compensatory behavioural patterns) which was mentioned, only once, in passing? ........

Also, possibly, "awesome", "sweet", or "epic".

When used as an adjective that does not imply a description of taste (as in tasted by your taste buds, but implying taste as a state of mind) the word 'sweet' is whispered in a low, approving murmur - not shouted triumphantly, unlike 'wicked', 'deadly' and (an odd one, this) 'evil' (the latter is enunciated very clearly with an expression of wild glee).

'Awesome' is one that was often used by my students, especially by students who came from the US; I came to like it, and see that - in certain, precise settings - it fits perfectly.

'Epic'. Hm.. As an adjective to describe coffee equipment?.....

Apparently to describe anything.

But what do I know...I'm still happy with the bees knees...
