Ups finally have it but its been shipped by standard shipping (Apple looking at the cost cutting yet again) and its not due until 28/11/2006 which is Tuesday dispite it being sent last night. So much for having it today lads.

At least its on its way. Id say we will have them on Monday at some stage.

Mine's still showing Walsh Western this morning... :(

The race is on!!! But Ill prob lose cos its being shipped to my home and not my student house! ...though Ill prob make the effort to be home if the damn date finally stays the same in the order tracker.

so in the past 24 hours it moved from 25 Nov -> 22 Nov -> 28 Nov

*Insert rant here*

I just cant be bothered anymore.

I got mine yesterday!!! it's so good! only problem is that the screen doesn't close correctly... it's got that gap thing.. But well who cares!

And I have an airport problem... When I try to connect to any wireless network is just says: "the was an error joining network blabla" :S what's wrong... I registered my MAC address... I entered the correct SSID, I entered the correct WEP key... (although it does say 40/64 , and on mac you can only choose 40/128...)
what's wrong???

greets

I called Apple (AGAIN!). This guy said it was showing 23rd-24th on his system, so I might get it today (FALSE HOPE!), but then when he tried to track it with UPS, he got the same as me (nothing).

So he said there's obviously a problem somewhere, and he would raise it on the system (!) and get back to me early next week (!!!!) with some firmer dates (!!!!!!).

The galling thing is that it's probably all because of that bloody NEOPRENE CASE that I added as a whim at the last moment...

GAH! Can we change the name of this thread to "Euro 17" Deliveryrace - Who's LAST?'

I was just thinking that same thing yesterday!

Yeah Ill be giving them another call later on, and asking to speak to someone who can give me answers ...unless it actually comes today!

Delay after delay after delay after delay, im sure its rare but its still very frustrating and they need to know about it!!! Customer service people are not going to say anything to management so maybe i will be able to!

I got my UPS tracking number working, but all it says is 'billing information received' - I have to check back later for shipping status.

I dunno why, I expect it to arrive every day ...im only more disappointed as each day goes on. I cant see how they could get it to NI in one day, unless we were priority - which Apple should have spent money on by now.

Its been out for delivery since 6.28 this morning, so where is it? My address isnt the easiest to find so Im hoping they havent driven past. Im now getting angry calls from my mum, who I assured wouldnt have to stay in the house too long waiting lol

She now also shares some annoyance over delays in this laptop lol

Warren, if you get urs, will you post asap so I know that it should be fairly soon?

Cheers

Will do. Wife should call me to work when it arrives (grr - it was being delivered to work when I ordered, and then I changed it to home as I was due to be off on the ORIGINAL due date  )

She's sick hearing about it too. :D

No sign/word as yet. What about Dublin, Dublinstiofán?

I Win!

I win the Ireland race! 3:20pm, it has ARRIVED!!!

Now I just have to resist going home early from work.... must.... try.... to.... CONCENTRATE..... :D

I'll be slightly apprehensive until I get it up and running and see there's no problems.

I'll post my final post to this thread from it later tonight!

Take it your having way too much fun with it to be back here re-living old waiting memories. Hope our batch is ok. Any problems with it?

The carrier lost mine, it said on the tracking it had been out for delivery for Monday and Tuesday but no delivery attempt has been made to date. Think the two best lines i have been told since Monday by a certain useless delivery company were:

Monday morning 11:30am

"Your package is out for delivery and should be with you in the afternoon"
Rushed home to make sure somebody was there to accept it.... no delivery attempt made. Was pretty  but said ah well at the latest tomorrow

Today
"Actually Mr Jones there appears to be some sort of mistake. According to my system one of your packages have been misplaced. And your package was not out for delivery yesterday as it says in your tracking progress on the carrier website, none of your packages have left the warehouse as of yet"
got a little   again

and

Finally this afternoon

"i can assure you we have recovered the missing package and it will be out for delivery tomorrow morning"

We will see how much their word is worth. Anybody want to take bets?

Morning delivery 150/1
Afternoon delivery 300/1
Delivery before christmas 20/1

So Far, So Good

Well, here I am typing on it... :)

So far, it's all good. It's quiet, the screen is nice and bright and sharp (compared to my Powerbook G4), backlight on the keyboard seems brighter (again vs PB G4), it's on my lap and it's not too hot (about the same as the PB - not burning me anyway).

Haven't put it to any real test yet - patiently let the battery charge, did a clean install of the OS (saved about 5Gb on the factory install), and bunging all my apps on again.

Having sold my PB in June pre-emtively to get a MBP, it's nice to FINALLY have a laptop again!

Bit of a nightmare story for you today Dublinstiofán; hope you get it tomorrow.

Yeah got mine yesterday too, though at 4pm ...so you win Warren! Sadly I have too many deadlines at the minute so Ive only had a chance to turn it on, play with front row, play with photobooth and turn it off!

At least its here though ...5 weeks after ordering it!

How did you free the 5GB on your MBP??? I looked at the space left and it said 130GB before i installed anything! I checked the applications folder and it was only 5GB ...so thats 25 not accounted for. I realise that hard disks are never as big as they are stated as ...but OSX doesnt take up 25GB, wheres my space???

I always do a clean install when I get a new machine. Put in your install disc and install OS X over again. Then while you are doing that, customise the install, and leave out all the language options you don't need, printer drivers etc. I also left out Garageband and all it's sample songs and loops etc. - that saves loads.

The formatted capacity of your 160gb drive is only 148Gb anyway - I've currently got 74Gb free, and I haven't even got everything back on it yet! :O

Glad to hear you got it and it's working etc!
