Oh yeah, my 17" MBP has arrived! It's a CTO, with a 100 gig 7.2k rpm disk.

It's great! Now I need to find a Windows XP disc and play some games. ;)

UPS don't handle the the shipping from China they're only the last step in the entire shipment process, to your door. The UPS number you have will not work because you get a new one once UPS actually has your package and it's being delivered.

So whats the point of giving me a tracking code which doesnt work? Ive been trying those tracking numbers daily, to no avail ...because Apple officially lists them as the tracking numbers!

Does UPS email me when they receive the package or what happens?

I have no idea why they give that tracking number so your guess is as good as mine. On the Apple Shipment Status page it will say the assigned carrier is UPS when they get it and the tracking number will appear under the carrier tracking number heading.

I told them that this was my first mac (which it is) and I was dissapointed that it was taking so long. I wasn't rude or anything, but the guy rather kindly offered me a £30 refund. This was about 7 days ago, and I got a letter on Monday confirming it. Checked my statment, and I was +£30!!! :)

It's all good in the end.
There's no real rush for mine, but I want it ASAP if you know what mean!

What?! You need to tell me, I could REALLY do with another £50. Did they knock it off all in one go? Did you get yours from the UK Edu store like me?

I got it from UK HE store, ordered on 24th October

When it was delayed once i got offered £50, when it got delayed again i complained and was told phone us when you get it, so it did and i was offered £60, i told them thats not good enough because of all the trouble i went through so they offered me £80 and put it back onto my card!

Thanks!

Also, how do you get the date of manufacturing and other details. I think it's from your invoice number or something. Can anyone give me the link to find when my MBP was born on?

Ta!

Is the date local to the event, or BST? etc. Try changing those?

Mine origionally said Sunday, but now sat Sat 25th!

My invoice number dosen't work. Also if I try to print it, it says "Can't present Invoice, please contact a customer service representative" :-(

Oh, well, I'll wait and hope for the best.

Mine is the roughly the same

Today: 23 Nov
Apple customer 'service' due date: 24th of November 'at the latest'
Online order status due date: 23rd November (today, nothing happened  )
NEW delivery date: 22 Nov (yesterday) which was posted up today.

There was one difference on my account and that is that it finally says under the assigned carrier section that is it now with WALSH WESTERN UKDC.

Hopefully its on its on a flight tonight and we might see it tomorrow.

Otherwise its monday for the both of us at the earliest.

By the time we get the damn thing a new model will be released.

Today is day 40 anyway, thats right 40 business days since i placed the order, thanks for such an efficient service Apple, another satisfied customer.

And yet it still says 'In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule' absolutely fantastic its halarious.

great machine

ok, friends, just set up my 17" MBP and everything looks fantastic: no noise (actually very silent, but no heavy use yet), screen ok, no dead pixels, fast, I am very very happy with this machine. :)

O yes, and the glossy screen is perfect (for me)

Good luck for those who are still waiting, it was fun to be with y'all while waiting;)

Whoa! Now we are talking!

What p***ed me off was that when I placed the order, Apple advertised they would ship with "express" delivery. Now, after three weeks, what I found out is they sent my darling using "UPS regular" service. In my case that's 5 days instead of 2. (using a truck instead of airmail)

Yeah, I noticed that too. Im guessing that UPS-UK delivered the extra items we ordered to the Daventry Apple Centre, so thats what was delivered yesterday. Surely, therefore they would have it all merged and sent out by tonight.

I would LOVE it to come tomorrow, so I can have the weekend to play with it, before back to serious uni work!

No idea what Walsh Western is though ....it seems to bring up a lot of MBP C2D forums when I type it into google. Maybe we'll get a different carrier after merging?

As far as I know Apple in the UK always use UPS for merge in transit so as long as we get a tracking number today we should expect it tomorrow. This is from my experience with other orders since it took my last order 2 days to get to my door once UPS had it.

Oh I just checked my shipment status and got a tracking number, looks like it should be here tomorrow afternoon.:D

Just to add my bit, I just refreshed this page (as I do 100 times a day sad man that I am) and my Apple Delivery status, and I too have a delivery date of 22nd!!!

What kind of system would allow an estimated delivery date that is older than the current date??? My clients wouldn't be impressed if I coded that!! ;)

Anyways, never mind Euro 17" who's first - I'm having a one-on-one with macs4ever for the Belfast race!! :D

EDIT: just noticed I have WALSH WESTERN UKDC as my carrier too! Finally some carrier info!

First impressions

The screen (glossy) is excellent, no dark/white spots or bad pixels. No sound of fans, either, so I'm happy. This thing is *fast*, especially compared to my trusty PB G4 1.25 15", which I'm still going to use on the road. The new one will stay at home and pretend to be a desktop ;)
I tried Doom 3, Quake 3 and UT2004 quickly. Doom 3 (OSX UB version) runs with far higher settings than my PowerMac (with a GeForce 4600ti) could. Full MBP resolution on high settings (no FAA, however). I have not recorded FPS. UT (also UB) already ran with 'very high' settings on my PowerMac, but now it flies. No FPS figures here, either. Quake 3 (UB) runs more than 250 FPS here and there on the first Tourney map with all settings high and many tweaks.
Next stop is Bootcamp, for Half-Life 1 and 2, Prey, Quake 4 and FarCry. I'm very curious how those will run.
I, as a Mac user since 1984, will first have to face the shame of buying a XP Home CD, however ;)

In short: happy camper!

/me goes off to try many more things...

Hehehe of course! It's the all-Ireland final! ;)

Ups finally have it but its been shipped by standard shipping (Apple looking at the cost cutting yet again) and its not due until 28/11/2006 which is Tuesday dispite it being sent last night. So much for having it today lads.

At least its on its way. Id say we will have them on Monday at some stage.
