This is consistent with my earlier deliveries, especially with DHL. Flight from China goes to the European shipper hub for distributions across the continent.
Oh they didn't mean a UPS hub (i.e., Cologne), they meant a warehouse in Czech republic or someplace else.

This morning (in Europe) my status was first "A mechanical failure has caused a delay. We will update the delivery date as soon as possible", then an hour later a same message but with an addition " / Your parcel is on the way." Does this additional information mean that the package is actually moving somewhere?

One indicator of them really traveling together as one bundle would be if the scan times are exactly the same and not apart by a couple of minutes. Do we have any data on that so far?
That's because UPS collects several shipments and bundles them in one pallet. And once they arrive at the destination hub (Cologne in our case) they get disbanded and shipped to their respective addresses. But this is different from what the agent was trying to tell me.

It's not clear.

I think that means the package is „still on the way“ and not something like: return to sender or broken or forgotten somewhere along the runway…
To give some hope…

Haha this crazy journey brings back memories from the last big MacBook Pro launch in 2016 ?
Went pretty much the same route back then. I much prefer DHL Express because they have direct freight flights from Shanghai to Leipzig in Germany (twice a day I believe).

Here‘s an excerpt from back then, almost exactly 5 years ago hahaha, History repeats:

Also, I am wondering: now with new flights like UPS11 going from South Korea directly to Cologne, why would our MacBooks still travel through Kazacksthan?
Either to deliver some parcels or to refuel ;)

I have that same strange thing. I think it is just an update from the system that it is still "In Transit". Looks like yours also might have arrived too late to load on a truck.
It arrived, so it found a truck :)
Weirdly enough, the delivery guy was from Fedex.

Funny how the UPS system still estimates the delivery for tomorrow. Seems like they haven't programmed a "Please wait for further information" option to the system. Not a big surprise though.

What a mess. If these delays are confirmed, I hope that UPS will divert any pallet that was destined to a truck into a plane and speed up the process. This may be why the delivery date hasn't shifted yet. They may have adjusted the travel paths to speed up the process. I am sure Apple has a say in this, given they have contracts and major investments with UPS. Hopefully they are pushing to speed up the deliveries...

Not too bad news I think. Mine seems to have been on the same flight yesterday (3v802) and has moved to Basel. Shipment is still shown as 29 but with a bit of luck it might go out for delivery today. It is still early.
And it wasn't stuck in Shanghai but it was on a long flight with a stopover in Novosibirsk!
And then everything went pretty quick, recieved my 16'' at 10 o clock this morning, tracking was way behind.

I am a happy camper, Apple and TNT (FedEx) treated me well, I deserve that, I had to wait for a new MacBookPro for 11 Years! ?

That’s a great write up!
Mine (probably) wasn’t supposed to leave till today because my delivery date is 29th… so I might join everyone who was supposed to go yesterday for the 28th…

I try to participate in the „tracking“ game but am a noob….
I know about flightradar and flight tracker… but have trouble identifying the UPS planes… does anyone has any tips how to search for possible flights?
Use FlightRadar24, select UPS as airline and search for all the flights there :)

I was just on the phone with Apple, and this time I've got another story: so Apple doesn't ship directly to EU customers from China, first it has to go to EU warehouse, and this is what the UPS tracking number refers to. To this estimate, we have to add a day or two for the delivery to us. According to Apple, the UPS tracking will update itself, once the macs are in said warehouse.

Honestly, in the past 3 days I've heard so many, often contradicting, information, that I don't know what to believe in anymore.

Maybe someone can call Apple and see if this story is confirmed?
I doubt it. You wouldn't receive a tracking number with a destination going through a warehouse. You either get the CTO delivery directly from China or you get a tracking number from an EU warehouse.

Apple ships pallets to the EU warehouse not individual CTO MacBook Pros ;)

I have ordered 2x 14" MBP. The customs clearance was like 3-4 hours apart. The mechanical failure message is one minute apart. They seem to scan it individually. No Apple warehouse pallets ;)

Another datapoint from the UK. Ordered 16" Max 64GB 1TB straight after the event when the store came back.

"We're processing your order" email received 1859 UTC+1 on Oct 18. Est. delivery Oct 29 - Nov 2.

"Dispatch Notification" email received 1546 UTC+1 on Oct 25. Est. delivery Oct 29 - Nov 2.

DHL Express tracking report:

My estimate for 16" M1Pro 32GB 2TB heading for Finland has finally shipped today 27th. (Ordered about two hours after event.)

Original time estimate was 4th-9th November, but now the estimate has changed to 01.11.2021. (I feel since this is the Europe thread, it's ok to use DD.MM.YYYY! :) )

(I got "Preparing to Ship" on 23rd of November IIRC, and the money was taken a couple days before.)

So I contacted US apple support and called the German Apple support again, and they told me that the information their colleague provided me earlier regarding the warehouse is incorrect... I think what we have here is just a big ugly mess. One shouldn't be forced to contact multiple support agents and then average out the responses to find a grain of truth.

I think what the first Apple rep meant is that the shipments will get split by UPS in their hub and from there go to the end client. It's a case of hearing the clock ticking but not knowing when midnight will strike. Either way, it won't help us get our MacBooks any sooner.

UPS still insists on the 28th though. Will be interesting to see the status tomorrow morning. Can't get much worse than the status we saw this morning.
