Hey everyone. Long time lurker on Macrumors, but this is my first actual post.
Since I found this thread referring specifically to M1 Pro/Max MBP shipments to Europe, I wanted to ask for your opinion.

I ordered the space gray 16" M1 Max 32 core GPU 64GB RAM 4TB SSD on March 21st, currently still in "Processing" stage of order, my current delivery window to Spain is 26th of April - 4th May. Still has not changed, but I am really fearing it will be further delayed soon like everyone else's.

I found a local official Apple reseller had a new one in stock with the exact same configuration, except 2TB instead of 4TB SSD. I decided to pull the trigger and place the order, with local pick-up on Tuesday and payment in store. I still have not cancelled my first order, will do on Tuesday as soon as I have the other one in my hands and confirm it is in perfect conditions.

I'll be using the MBP for music production and mixing, and I initially wanted 4TB to not have to worry at all about storage for a long time, but I guess I prefer to have my new computer now and maybe have to use a few external SSDs, than wait until end of May, June, or who knows when.

Do you think I am making the right move?

Thank you in advance :=
I'm a musician as well. IMHO, if you can avoid having SSDs attached, do it. I was fed up of missing libraries because I forgot to plug the SSD. I've bought 2TB (I think it is enough for me, time will tell. I've installed all Komplete standard, Vienna special edition synchronized, BFD with some packs and plenty of plugins.). I do travel a lot and many times I'm at the bus or train working on my mac. Having just my mac and my phones plugged in is invaluable. I'd just wait. No falta mucho hasta mayo!
Btw, I'd consider first a M1 Pro with 4TB, if you have it available, with maybe 32GB. That's what I have. But that's up to you!

I ended up cancelling my order and buying the one that was in stock with 2TB SSD instead of 4TB, for two important reasons:

1. Seeing as ALL orders are being delayed at least until June, I don't want to spend the next few months waiting, worrying and not being able to work properly with no expected delivery date. I feel very lucky being able to have my new MBP M1 Max and writing from it, seeing as even people who ordered theirs in January or February. My order was places initially on March 21st, so it would be playing the waiting game.

2. I very rarely work on the go, and always have a backpack on me, so extra SSDs won't be a problem. I also have a main studio computer with more storage, so no problem there either.

As for the 14", not interested at all. I upgraded from my 13" MBP to my current 16" and couldn't be happier with the screen size. And it is not as big or heavy as many other users seem to think, at least IMHO. And 64GB RAM does make the difference, and more future-proof.

Thanks for your input!

Some feedback from France : placed my order on feb 23 for a 16" space grey MBP M1 Max 32 core gpu, 1 tb and 32gb ram through Bechtle. I don't even have an ETA as of today, and yet this is not a custom config...
I have a seen a few german order for M1 Max from February being delivered these past few days so it's giving me some hope that we'll get through this. Still a very long wait (11 weeks now).

Same here in Sweden with order for 14"/Max/32GB/512GB. Placed order from apple.se Feb 16 and after two pushes delivery is now in July and I've cancelled that order praying that my Intel 16" from 2019 will hold up just a little bit longer.
