A continuation form the original (Apple Pay in Germany) topic

Most of the countries in Europe have Apple Pay or have been announced to receive Apple Pay shortly. At the time of writing this post, countries as The Netherlands, Germany or Poland don't have Apple Pay (officially).

Lets discus and fantasize of having Apple Pay in every European country in this topic :)
[doublepost=1528115194][/doublepost]
It was the other way around, they corrected themselves that they were talking about Android Pay (probably a employee that did not read the NDA said too much), and somebody said that "We are waiting for Apple pay, too !", and ING replied with "Apple Pay option will be available very soon too !"

Really? Because earlier today ING posted "Unfortunately, we wille not have Apple Pay soon"

Romanian banks have leaked some information that Apple Pay will be available soon. The 2 banks are Erste BCR and ING.

Never expected it at WWDC, I think we have to watch those earnings reports. Unless a keynote includes some changes to Apple Pay, it would be weird to just mention it out of the blue.

And still one of the best options to take is boon through irland.
I am using Apple Pay now for over 6 months.
And I don't like that I did use one of these ways that late!
I should have done earlier.

Hey neighbour,

How did you set up Apple Pay via Ireland?

Exactly how described.
For Irland Apple ID I did put in my German address except I omitted the ZIP code as that was checked.
I did not have to put in any payment method.
For Boon, please remember to use your REAL address, while the region is set to Irland still.
If you don't take your real address and real phone number, you will have no chance to login (mobile number is your login) and without the right address you can never change to boon plus.
And for the iRland Apple ID. only use it in the App Store Setting do NOT use it in the iCloud setting (top of the settings dialog). If you change iCloud login to Irland and then go back to your country with the iCloud ID, it will delete the Wallet. If you only change the App Store this will not Happen.

As we don't have Apple Pay in Slovakia either, I might give boon. a try.

Was wondering, if there is any limitation on transaction amount and are there any transaction fees, when paying via boon.?

If you are able to read German, you can head over there: https://www.apfel.cash/apple-pay-einrichten/

Short Version:

  1. Set the region of your iPhone to Ireland
  2. Get an iTunes Store account in Ireland. (You need an extra email address) For a valid address search for a hotel on Google Maps
  3. Get the boon. app (https://itunes.apple.com/ie/app/boon./id1042647367)
  4. Launch it and register with your real data
  5. Add boon. to the wallet
  6. Change back your region
Thanks a lot. Going to try it, but was wondering: how do you pay in a store where most clerks will have no idea what Apple Pay is, since it's not released in Germany? (or Belgium in my case)
I know a lot of stores have support for wireless transactions (you can see it on the terminal) but obviously Apple Pay is never listed.

Meanwhile most cashiers know it in most stores, so no more: "Wow, this works!?" ;)

Don't mention Apple Pay or Android Pay.
Just say you are paying contactless.

Unbelievably some cashiers will have to dig the terminal out from under their desk… ie. Museum Fünf Kontinente and Altes Pinakothek in Munchen.
I had a "friendly" discussion with the person at the Museum Fünf Kontinente when he pulled a long face complete with sighing and lots of dramatic "searching" under piles of papers, when I wanted to pay electronically.
Such a drama queen. You'd think it was 1990… :D

Still at other shops — as long as they actually do accept cards — it worked like a charm.
Even paid the bill at the Augustiner Bräustuben — I took a chance on that as the amount was far in excess of GBP30.

I would not even mention contactless. I usually just say "mit Karte" and thats it.
Sometimes pretty funny, when they raise their hand to receive the card, I show them the watch.
It worked nearly all the time now and nobody said something like "this does not work" or whatever.
Pretty often they said "Great, lets try"

Took me some time, but I got the card setup on my iPhone and Watch. Now I need to add some money and... go out and pay for the first time with it! *feels exited like a little kid the night before Christmas*

Using Apple Pay with HSBC for a while in Romania. Is accepted everywhere there is a contactless terminal without requesting a PIN for any sum. The only problem is I pay a foreign exchange fee of 2.99 %, but is so conveninet with an Apple Watch. If Apple Watch 4G would work on the local operators, I could let the iPhone at hime which would be incredible in summer.
