Nothing is ever going to match the Hermes orange… I forget what it is called, but it is distinctive. I also think there is some quality difference in the fluorastimer material and surfacing. And well the pin is made of something most likely better too.. is it worth it, only the buyer can decide. I’ve always like orange - its sort of my color, and I DO like the Hermes orange and have many items in that color, but really wouldn’t pay this much of a premium for my AW band.

I mean you can get an Hermes band from apple directly, brand new, for $49 plus shipping if you have an Hermes serial number. Which, is pretty easy to find on eBay.

Not that I'm supporting borrowing serial numbers for watches you dont own, but like, Apple won't know...
Is that true? I have several friends with this Hermes AW, can they just get a band for $49 with a serial number?

Nope, same fluoroelastomer, same pin. The stainless steel pin is just polished and laser engraved, and the fluoro uses a proprietary formula to get the Hermes color, but its all the same band.

Here's a pic of my unfinished factory reject that never got a polish. Same pin as any other Sport Band. (Fog, for example.)

My spring Solo haul has already arrived. 🤩 Long story short, they're all keepers, if for (slightly) different reasons.

Bright Orange Braided is very bright (and very yellow-ish). I couldn't compare to Electric Orange Braided as I don't have that one, but here it is inbetween Marigold SB and Kumquat Solo.

Sprout is, again, very bright (and very yellow-ish). I guess it would be closest to the OG Green SB, but I sold that one a long time ago. Here is Sprout inbetween Pistacchio Solo and Bright Green SB.

Olive is a little boring and not very spring-y, but it's a solid choice and I'll keep it beacause my Eucalyptus Solo, which is quite similar, is too big/loose now on the Ultra. Also pictured: Khaki SB.

Purple Fog is lovely and exactly as the name implies. As you can see, it's much lighter than English Lavender. Also pictured: Lilac SB.

Wowzers…. You nabbed those quick!

Sport bands only, but yes. If you have the black one, I think you can even order the Noir sport band. apple has a hoard of old bands available in their replacement parts system, including Hermes sport bands, ceramic pinned sport bands, and up until a couple years ago, the Light Bone/Black Nike Sport Band exclusive to the NikeLab watches. you just call or chat Apple Support, tell them yours is broken or that you'd like to replace it, give them your serial number, and if they know what they're doing, they'll sort you out in a few minutes. Rather simple process.

Yeah, waiting for Solos in a) the exact right size and b) non-stretched to turn up on ebay et al. is a fool‘s errand, so I just get them right away.

I was surprised by how much I like Sky, given the gazillion other shades of blue we have.

Me, too! Who knew that there was such a sizeable „pure light blue“ gap between the older, paler Sky Blue and the hall-of-fame Lilac?

OOOF I feel this pain now. I tried for weeks to get sunglow only for it to be out of stock always. Now its gone foreeever :-(

LOVELY picts from all - and such fast shipment!

Sprout Green solo loop looks intriguing!

Not too fond of most of the rest of the new entries,

bright orange sport band looks kinda cool too

what, if any, are you guys eyeing of the new ones?

Mmhhh … rubber. 🤤

Well, there was a Canary Yellow SB released in 2019 already, and Apple (almost) never re-releases old bands.

P.S. Have you ever tried a Solo in the perfect size on your own wrist? It may look cheap (to some), but the comfort is just next-level.
Apparently the color sold well otherwise they wouldn't be doing it as a solo. I've never found the band here with me on eBay, etc. in the box. Only in parts at higher prices. I think many who only decided on an AW after 2019 would buy the band as a SB. But Apple seems to be going more and more into the Solo because there's just more profit to be made there than with the SB. I'm not saying they aren't comfortable, I just don't like the look of them because I think they look cheap 😉

This spring release isn't very exciting.

Canary Yellow looks like Lemon Zest.
Bright Orange looks like Hermes. I already have Marigold and Hermes orange.
Sky looks like Fog Blue.

Only silicon band interesting is the Sprout Green, but I don't wear Solo Loop.

I'm considering Rose Azalee in Hermes leather band.
Rose Azalee is the only new band I ordered. Not really interested in any of the other bands. Too close to bands I already own.

Why, because they need less rubber? We discussed this a while ago in one of the threads here, you have to also consider the cost of providing the sheer number of SKUs they need to make for all the Solo sizes while the Sport Band is one-size-fits-all. That‘s why I was really suprised that Apple released these almost tailor-made bands at all and it’s also why I don‘t think there is more money in the Solos vs. the Sport Bands for Apple.

Fair enough.

I’ll probably get Sprout Green and Purple Fog solos, Sky Blue and Bright Orange sport bands. Maybe Canary yellow if I think it’s different enough to my Lemon Zest band and Sunglow solo.

My guess, btw, is that we’ll see a release in a couple of months of new sport loops, Nikes and maybe some leather/Ultra ones (also wouldn't be surprised if they only updated Ultras once a year). I wonder if it got too much for them refreshing all lines every time and from now on we'll get new things in some strap types in March and other strap types in June or whatever.

That was fast! [edit: and thanks for that photo comparison. ]

My Olive SL will arrive today. I’ve been wearing the Sunglow daily [for months], my only SL, and believe that Olive will be a nice yang to that yin.

Wearing it today 😊 Looks great with Eucalyptus as watch face accent color.

Time to give Sunglow a rest, then. 😉 It will do heavy duty in spring and summer I imagine (mine certainly will).

My take is that the solo loop is probably what the design team envisions as the "default" base watch band for the Apple Watch. Since there is no pin or buckle that might lead to hardware color mismatches, the solo loop works with all watches regardless of case color. They used to color-match the sport band's pin to case color, and I bet the switch to mostly silver pins for all sport bands (due to logistical reasons?) drove some designers crazy.

They also updated the Watch app icon from a sport band to a solo loop, which could also indicate the solo loop's importance to Apple.

Couldn‘t agree more! I also think the Solo Loops are the design team‘s „platonic ideal“ for a rubber band as its minimalism without any vísible clasp/buckle/pin/loop/overlap is pure Apple. The only other strap that achieved this was (and still is) the stunningly perfect Link Bracelet. I‘m sure before the Solos were geeenlighted there were bean counters inside Apple lamenting „all those SKUs 😲“, so I‘m glad the design team won this battle.
