While I'm not glad the woven nylons are gone, my wallet will be staying closed it looks like. I might add one of the new sport loops, but nothing else. I'm surprised at how thin the band lineup looks now, it's a little concerning to me.
Also interesting, that I did not notice right away, Apple discontinued the Edition ceramic Apple Watch as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I kind of think the fanfare of all the new band colors is not what it used to be. In the beginning, it was all about customization of showing it off and matching with everything. Things appear to have shifted to the functions of the Apple Watch itself and limiting to a few classic pieces. From a selling perspective, it’s certainly less to maintain. I’m not concerned, but it’s interesting how it has shifted.

Thankfully not interested in any of those bands. Also not going to get the S4 either as we are still left with the basic aluminium non-LTE model here and the price increased once again. Not worth it.

That price increase has held me up from jumping on an S4 immediately.

Ok, a couple of things. No Woven Nylon bands anymore, that‘s a shame as I really like them. No Classic Buckle bands anymore, you have got to be kidding me; best leather band by far and now just gone. But of course they take the opportunity to finally release a nice green leather band colour, but only as a Leather Loop – a band style which seemed to be on it‘s way out before?? So only one strap for me as the regular Sport bands are the only actively sold band style that I like at all, and lavender grey is the only new colour that is really new/unique. Because of course a Forest Green Sport band also doesn‘t exist. Looks like I will save a lot of money.

Also, while the backwards compatibility is officially confirmed and there will of course be no „gap“ with older bands on the S4 connector, the older bands absolutely will look more narrow (as in: less wide) in relation to the now wider watch body. If you thought your Woven Nylon straps looked too narrow on the older Watches, all bands will look similarily narrow on the S4. That‘s probably why the Nylon bands are disontinued as well, because on the S4 they will probably look extremely narrow.

I‘m in awe with the tech/spec side of the S4, but I‘m not so sure about the look with the more square body, more rounded corners and narrower looking bands. I will have to take a long look IRL to decide if I upgrade or stay with the S3 for now.

They look awesome, but I dont see them on the Apple site. Are they later releases maybe?

I guess I mean cape cod blue and storm grey. I think that’s what they are?

Thought it was same naming as the blue sport band ... it isn’t

Attached photos for people who don’t feel like skimming the verge article

Cape cod blue may be the one for me! Eventually

Oh Ok, the Cape Code does not look so rich and blue in the Apple website pic. I love the pic you linked. If it is that color, than it is a winner for sure.

Yeah the stock photo looks very different. But that has to be it. Don’t see anything else resembling it and why would Apple show off a band that isn’t a new one for sale ya know

Did they can woven nylon maybe cause it’s not a wide enough band / doesn’t look good with new Apple Watch face 4 aesthetic?

Can anyone confirm a width difference between 42 and 44mm bands? Anyone take pics or videos camparing in all of the hands on?

Nectarine spotted in a hands on video.

hibiscus too.

From a photo in this link/article about the new Watches, you can see that the new gold Milanese Loop has 32 loops across, starting from one in at the edge. I counted from a photo of a Series 3 Watch Milanese Loop and it also has 32 loops. This leads me to believe that the “new” bands are essentially unchanged...just rebranded for the Series 4 sizes.

ALSO: Model numbers of the new bands have changed from the old ones as well, presumably because they are marketed now for the new sizes...noted in new hyperlinks, for example: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MTPM2AM/A/44mm-pink-sand-sport-band-s-m-m-l

42mm <Band Color> 44mm (new):
MNJ92AM/A <Pink Sand> MTPM2AM/A
MLKY2ZM/A <Stone> MTPN2AM/A
MQ3T2AM/A <Midnight Blue> MTPX2AM/A
MQXE2AM/A <(PRODUCT)Red> MU9N2AM/A

OK So....If we own a S3 or older Watch and we buy the new bands which are now sold at 40 and 44mm would that mean 38mm is now 40 and 42mm is now 44? Correct? So I own the S3 42mm I would now buy the 44mm bands?

Nevermind. Just seen this on Apple's website....

Band Compatibility
You can match this band with any Apple Watch Series 4 case of the same size. It also works with all previous versions of Apple Watch, including Apple Watch Series 3. The 40mm band works with the 38mm case; the 44mm band works with the 42mm case.

I'M TOTALLY GETTING THE SERIES 4!!!!

Woven Nylon is discontinued... Next year's pride edition will be Sport Loop?
Sad to see Classic Buckle being discontinued as well... none of the current bands have a traditional buckle design anymore (I do prefer Modern Buckle over Classic, personally)

The watch band lineup chart is coming soon... I'll update the file once I finish installing all of the GMs in my devices, haha

I'm getting a Series 4 as well, and one for the wife too. My current S3 will be relegated to a Workout Watch, and I will finally throw out my S0, which is essentially useless. :D

Regarding the revived Modern Buckle, just remember it is for the smaller (38/40 mm) watch only. The Leather Loop is for the larger (42/44 mm) watch.

My guess as to why there is an apparent limited selection of Apple-branded bands (including elimination of the woven nylon set) is that the third party market is starting to take over. Let's face it, there are a lot of budget-conscious folks here and elsewhere that want less expensive bands that what Apple sells, regardless of whether they are Sport bands, leather, or metal.

I need to do this with my S3. Workout and Yard work.

I feel stupid for keeping it and stupid for selling it for so low.
