No 3G, no MMS, no video, no sanctioned third party apps...

You forgot, no GPS, no Skype/iChat, no taser, no bottle opener, no electric razor, no emergency beacon, no garage door opener, it doesn't change the channels on my TV, and it doesn't make whiny people who are never happy with ANY product quit their B##@ing!
LOL

All these shortcomings, and yet it was the gadget of the year and has sold over 5 million worldwide! Terrible device....

Yeah, I'm being just slightly sarcastic.

I still get a kick out of seeing someone else with an iPhone! I give them a "me, too!" smile (which they may or may not understand, of course, unless I pull mine out. I haven't seen a lot of iPhones out in the "wild" but I have seen a few. A couple of friends also have one. However, another of my friends emailed me recently that she was all set to buy an iPhone and then learned that the government agency where she works won't permit them in there.....she is very disappointed. A different friend loved the idea of the iPhone and the elegance of it but for her it was not as practical as her Blackberry and her regular cell phone. However, when the iPod Touch came along, she was at the Apple store to snap one up!

When I was waiting in line to get Leopard, I got into a conversation with the guy standing next to me and he, too, had an iPhone. Like me, he's a photographer and so we had fun showing each other our photo galleries on our respective iPhones.

Yep, I have fond memories of that day back in June hanging out with my fellow Apple fans waiting to get our hands on the very new, very intriguing iPhone.....from the first moment I handled it I was in love and my iPhone has never disappointed me. I'm happy to see a lot of others also having the iPhone experience....there's nothing like it!

Ha I've seen like 2 where I live, not including the Apple store. When I fly I see them all over.

not to be racist or anything. But at my school alot of black and hispanic kids have it but no white kids

Listen, if you're happy to accept a reduced feature set or if you feel what it has meets your requirements equipment then knock yourself out. Just don't expect others to have such low expectations.

Err... 4 million of these sales are in America where it actually is pretty good (mainly because the US cellphone market is crap). In Europe not so - it's been comprehensively outsold by the LG Viewty (though God knows why) and the Nokia N95 (which incidentally has sold about 7 million units so far).

The gadget of the year is an award by Time, an American magazine. It's fair enough because in the US it probably is.

Yeah, I'm being just slightly sarcastic.

Fair enough. I'm just being realistic - I like the iPhone but it's not for me just now because there are better phones out there, at least for me.

Bought my first 8GB on launch day, recently upgraded to the 16GB. Now my daughter has my old 8GB, and my son just bought a 16GB Friday.

I see iPhones all the time! Love it!

That's because the Hispanic and Black kids are spending their money on cool tech like the iPhone, while the white kids are buying $200 sneakers, and "bling" to try to be cool and more "black" or "Hispanic." :D

I live in NY and every other person has an iPhone. Where I work there are more iPhones popping out than there are on display at the Apple store and I mean that literally. At my school though there aren't many kids who have an iPhone. The majority use sidekicks.

Only three that I am aware at my office location of over 150 employees. We are however a pretty big Microsoft shop. There are lots of Blackjacks and Moto Q's getting their owner's email from our exchange server.

Fellow June 29, 2007 iPhone owners, remember the feeling of having this new thing that made people gawk? Remember feeling like one of the only ones to own one? I Knew the day would come when 'everybody' had an iPhone. I guess it started with the price drops, the hacks and refurbs. Now I see a LOT of iPhone owners. I was at a video shoot where about 5 of 10 people had iPhones. :D

Have you seen more now? Does it seem like everybody has one to you?

Maybe purchasing a Mac Book Air with the SSD will restore your feeling of elitism!!!! :p:D

Nice, dude.

Well I have the 16GB iPhone, but, dammit, no one knows that my 16GB is better than the 8 or 4 GB that 'regular' people have. The 16GB on the back of the iPhone should light up and flash so everyone knows that I have the best iPhone evar.

I live in Australia and have seen 3 other iPhones. My drum teacher has one, another guy in my school has one and I saw one in Melbourne once. That's a fair few for Australia. I also have one, did I mention that?

A lot of people here in Dublin seem to have them. 4 of my family members do anyway plus a few in work, all unlocked of course.

With the iPhone becomming available on 14th March, there will be a lot more of course.

I noticed while SSH'ing into my phone and browsing through some of the 1.1.4 folders that the O2 Ireland settings are in in the firmware.

in the length of time that ive owned mine (since UK launch) i have only seen ONE person on the street with one

AND ive also seen one persons BEBO photo of them taking their photo using their iPhone

i think its kinda good that not alot of folk have them in the UK, well especially round about where i live, cos it means when i whip mine out people are more like "OMG you have one of those iPhone, LEMME SEE !!!"

its like having a little celebrity in your pocket :)

iPhone EPIC FAIL

What's next? A MacBook Air laying on the screen?

In Manhattan they are everywhere... and as i look around I notice that the Sidekick is very much alive and well and a lot more people have them then I would have expected as T-mobile has terrible phone service in NY outside of the city.

Any-who ... LOTS of iPhones in NYC and I also am seeing many iPhones with no case ! ... I wish I had the guts to take mine out to be free !

ive seen 3 iPhones which is pretty good seeing as though they arent sold here . i got to play with one while i was out at dinner tonight actually. the whole UI is so liquidly and fast.

I live in Old Town, ME and have never seen an iPhone around town since I got mine on launch day.

I work in Bangor, ME and have seen two men with them. One was at Best Buy, young guy, early 20's and the other was a staff person at a rehabilitation home in his mid to late 30's.

I travel to our largest city, Portland, ME regularly and have never seen an iPhone "in the wild" yet.

I'm doing my part though, since I am responsible for our mobile communications at my place of employment I have transitioned four upper management staff to the iPhone.

So the four I transitioned, the two I've seen and me is a total of at least seven in central Maine. Not bad for the freezing, dark and technologically behind State of Maine. :D
