Try living in the city before making statements like that. DC is more like 60% BB, 30% iPhones and a variety for the other 10. While iPhones are slowly creeping in on the hill, I don't believe they are cleared for security if you work for a Congressional office or Federal agency. Until the fed fully supports them, BBs will remain on top here.

i know 18 people that i work with who have the iphone now...
last summer when i got mine it was only 5 of us who had the iphone at work.

I can say i have talked allot of those 13 extra into buying one also..

My work knows me as the "cell phone problem" person..meaning i used to go through phones like crazy...one year i had 14 diff cell phones..kept changing carriers changing phones...it drove my gf nuts....

ever since i won my iphone at work sept 2008 i still have the same phone...everyone around me is like wow you still have the same phone it must be good...

i tell them no...its great..by far the best i have used...
Im all apple at home now too... :apple:

Okay, that's great and all but I was talking about just normal everyday people, not federal officials, Government employees, etc Of course they use Blackberries due to their higher security but from my perspective "normal" folk (you know, the people walking around and working in restaurants, coffee shops, etc) use iPhones.

Don't worry though, I don't ever plan to live there :)

I know what you're talking about. My wife and I have sat in the doctor's waiting room several times recently and noticed that no one else in the room reads magazines anymore - instead they are all browsing on their iPhones.

I see the same thing at the coffee shop, the mall, you name it.

All those huge sales numbers that Apple is boasting is sure borne out by what I'm seeing around town. There are a LOT of iPhones out there. No wonder AT&T's network is struggling.

Sometimes I wonder if AT&T actually has MORE data capacity and bandwidth than Verizon (where they both have good coverage that is), but they are just carrying so much more traffic that it seems like less. Not that it matters in the end, but I'm just curious.

I had the original iPhone on launch day and for months after that it was like a status symbol to have an iPhone because it was expensive, new and exclusive. After a while more and more and more people started getting them.

It's not so much of an exclusive status symbol anymore considering so many people have it, but I don't care about that.

As long as I have a great phone with lots of functionality I gladly accept the popularity, the more the merrier!

In fact.. I think EVERYONE should have an iPhone lol.

Both my girlfriend and I have iPhone's, and I have seen a steady stream of them when we're out. A lot of people are just fiddling around with them, or actually talking on the phone. Or some are playing around with their iPhone's at restaurants. Sometimes it bothers me, and I think, "I should get another phone since it seems EVERYONE has the iPhone." But I know that if I ditch the phone, I'm going to just come back to it. So I'll suck it up that a lot of people in and around the Philadelphia area have the iPhone. The most important thing is that you're happy with it.

Ah, so us gov't employees aren't "normal" folk? :) You do realize how many of us abby normals there are, correct?

Funny that you mentioned that. I am in a meeting for class and 4/5 people have iPhones.

1 First Gen
2 3G
1 3GS (Mines)

The iPhone is not an exclusive country club, nor is it an elite device. It's a mobile device that is for sale for anyone and everyone to buy.

Suck it up. Don't be an elitist prick.

I was in Washington DC a couple days ago and I noticed almost everyone had an iPhone including myself and my girlfriend. I mean, it had to have been 85% at least people with iPhones (of any generation)

I guess the "exclusivity" of the iPhone is slowly diminishing--it basically shows how much people love the iPhone. It's the new Motorola RAZR--in a GOOD way :)

I used to be a cell phone whore myself a bit ago. I hated having the same cell phone as everyone else. I'd buy GSM phones from Europe that had amazing specs. For example, I have a Sony Ericsson K850i Cybershot with a 5MP camera and Xenon flash. I like it but man the UI is slow as HELL and buggy.

I actually had the first gen iPhone at launch which I later got bored of (it was before the App store hit) so I sold it and tried out at least 8 different cell phones. I was neve really that happy with them, they had great specs but it wasn't as fun to use. I got the iPhone 3G at launch as well and I haven't owned another cell phone except my upgraded 3GS since then.

it feels good to finally break that cell phone addiction with the iPhone :) cell phones ain't cheap unfortunately :(

How many people do you guys see in your area with cell phones? How happy have you been with your iPhones? :)

ha reminds me of me. I had a new cell phone about every month. bought a itouch and thought I'm not carrying to devices when i can carry one. so got me a 3G 16gb. I've had it over a year and willing to keep it another. Not sure if I'm getting the 3GS or wait. what do you think?

Well, do you find your 3G slow? Do you want video recording and a bump in camera quality?

I got it for the speed aspect of it. Everything is virtually instant and everything loads quicker and it shows when I play around with a 3G compared to a 3GS....

I honestly don't have any complaints about this 3G. But wondering if its worth the wait to see if Apple comes out with the "4G". My update comes in January.

Well Apple still hasn't abandoned the original iPhone (except for MMS) so you'll be OK until the next iPhone :). if you're perfectly content with your 3G which is still great; you probably don't need to shell out more money for essentially the same thing.

Remember we all still get the updates to hold you over! :)

I always cringe when I see:

a) Hideous pink cases hiding it's design
b) Old people poking the screen like it may bite :)

Everyone has one in California.

haha! thats good! I could always use a good update. :D Then I'll stick with what I have and wait for the next big thing. :apple:

Oh God I thought I was the only one. Girls with there blackberry's and iPhone's are guarenteed to have a pink case with the poor handset dangling off there hands while they attempt at managing some other thing while texting. Oh and my aunt does b) it drives me crazy I tried to call her out on it but she got mad haha.

Iw as HELL and buggy.
How many people do you guys see in your area with cell phones? How happy have you been with your iPhones? :)

I am in Florida, and I don't see an awful lot of iPhones here. I was in Las Vegas last year, and I did see a few people with iPhones, but not a lot. I am sure that there are a lot, based on the number of handsets that Apple sold, but either I just don't care enough to notice what phones other people are using, or I don't get out much:D

I have a first generation phone, and I am getting increasingly unhappy with EDGE, and the general lag between applications, etc. I am holding out for next revision.

if it makes you feel better, I don't have an iPhone (Verizon area)

I join that choir. I don't have an iPhone either - and I generally hate cell phones and being available all the time. Call it an occupational hazard.

But I feel sorry for you guys that are now just disappearing in the crowd. It's a bit like you were using a PC with Windows - I mean, that's what everybody uses, right? And there's nothing special about something that everybody has.

HAHA! I posted similiar comments about 3 months ago, and got BLASTED!! I too would prefer a product that not everyone has, but alas, every Tom, Dick, and Harriet have one. From 6-100 yrs old. Can't blame them, but not everyone wanted to drive a black Model T either.
