Getting mad gets clicks. Mad world we live in now.So the internet is both mad that is it not enough titanium and also too much titanium.

I upgraded from a non-pro that is all aluminum, in part because they got rid of the heavy stainless steel in the pros. The new pros are an improvement in durability for me. Of course my aluminum iphones were plenty durable, too.Ideally enough so the phone is not less durable than the previous generation.
No, that is not true. The frame is mostly aluminum with 1mm of Titanium on the outside.
The fact that people are confused about this *still* is I think the point of the thread. I don't think anyone is seriously suggesting that all internal components need to be made of Titanium.

From a cross section of the frame, the darker metal is the Titanium. It was clear that there was an internal aluminum structure from the keynote, but wasn't clear that the Aluminum is a key structural part of the outside frame.
I'm sure this had some advantages, but the overall design, for whatever reason, is less robust to damage than the Stainless steel 14 Pro series, which seemed to do a better job of shielding the glass from damage.
You single handedly wipe out every single law regarding intent from the law books. WOW! What’ll do for your second accomplishment of your life next? You seem to be psychic. Please give me winning lottery number and also if interest rates will be hiked in next fed meeting.
I completely agree. I have the new iPhone 15 Pro. The Titanium is heavier, not lighter than Aluminum. The reason the phone is lighter has to due 100% with other ways it was produced. Does anyone believe the titanium is "lighter". We've also seen this 15 Pro's breaks much easier than any iPhone in the prior 5 years because of the way they connect the side frame to the body. If it breaks easier, who cares that the 1mm paper thin wrap around Titanium see won't break. How does that matter even 1%. It's the front and back we don't want breaking. The Titanium is 101% a gimmick. If you don't recognize that, you've been bamboozled a 2nd time.YouTube clickbait takes another victim.
I disagree. It feels nicer, it looks nicer and compared to the SS phones of last years it's noticeable lighter. Comparing it to the base models instead of previous pro models is pointless.I completely agree. I have the new iPhone 15 Pro. The Titanium is heavier, not lighter than Aluminum. No one has been bamboozled. People have a choice to buy, or to not buy, a product. What Apple states about a product has to be true, by law, otherwise they will get in significant trouble with government agencies. The Titanium is 101% a gimmick. If you don't recognize that, you've been bamboozled a 2nd time.
Since you have the phone I guess that you were bamboozled according to your statements. If you have such an informed opinion, why did you allow yourself to be bamboozled? If you feel the device is not represented properly, why did you buy the device?I have the new iPhone 15 Pro

Those are three statements you made that do not counter anything I said. Look closely again at what I wrote. Details matter. That’s totally fine that you don’t use a case and you like how the side feels it doesn’t feel any different to me at all, but I never made a comment if you look above about how it feels in my hand that is something else. The lighter weight is true, but has nothing to do with the titanium. the only thing you disagreed with is I said the titanium is 100% hype because of what they are claiming on TV, it being stronger and lighter. The titanium is not lighter, and the fact that paper, thin wrap round of titanium is stronger than aluminum, default to being a worthless Utility, because the phone itself is not stronger and the front and back break exponential. Simply go to YouTube and look at the durability and droptests. Also I’ll never understand people that don’t use a case but that’s great if you like how the edges feel. Feels the exact same for me. My larger argument is the strength and the weight which are being falsely marketed.
Yes, I saw you cutting and pasting this comment to several above. Unfortunately you posted it too quick in my response and you didn’t look closely at what I read - you’re not getting my point is not my problem. You’re doing it to yourself. Be specific. Look at my specific comments. I reviewed the entire tear down video weeks ago. I’m fully aware it’s not entirely titanium and couldn’t care less and I’m not bothered by this. That has nothing to do with what I’m saying. Your reply is completely nonresponsive. I’m saying they are marketing that the titanium is lighter and makes the phone stronger. Both are scientifically untrue. I don’t care if the titanium is a quarter of a millimeter thin or 10 mm thick the entire frame - it impacts my comments in no way, so look closely at my comments. And then you mentioned it’s not Apple‘s problem if I wear a case. I have no idea what this comment is even about. Again, completely nonresponsive. If people think it’s more comfortable, that’s completely fine, but they could’ve also tailored aluminum to have the same field as it wraps around the sides so again the titanium is not providing the value stated, in terms of the field, in terms of the weight, in terms of the strengthTbh I don't get your point. Apple made it absolutely clear during the presentation that it in fact isn't full titanium and also the reviews clearly stated how much 'lighter' the new iPhones are going to be... so I was fully informed about my purchase before getting it. And so could everybody else. Also putting your phone into a case and therefore ruining it's design isn't something that Apple is responsible for... 🤔
The accurate comparison I believe is that the titanium is lighter than the stainless steel, which is a fact and contributes to the lighter weight vs. the 14 Pro?Yes, I saw you cutting and pasting this comment to several above. Titanium, ounce per ounce is heavier than aluminum. The reason the phone is lighter is due to the overall build and has nothing to do with that thin 1 mm titanium wraparound again, it is completely false marketing 100%. Titanium does not make the phone 1% stronger. Titanium does not make the phone 1% lighter. I wish I was wrong about this and I want someone to prove me wrong but no one has been able to. This is one of Apple’s biggest lies and every time I see a commercial titanium flying through space, it irks me that they’re treating people like they’re stupid. The accurate comparison I believe is that the titanium is lighter than the stainless steel, which is a fact and contributes to the lighter weight vs. the 14 Pro?
Your comments are fine, but my comments are entirely about the titanium gimmick. It feeling nicer or looking nicer could’ve been done with aluminum. There’s no real advantage to the titanium other than a gimmick. Whether it’s a thin coating or the entire frame would make no difference because the titanium is a gimmick regardless. Titanium, ounce per ounce is heavier than aluminum. What does it matter if the phone breaks significantly easier than any iphone in the past five or six years. The way they attached the siding to the front and back makes for an easy break of the front and back and isn’t that all that really matters. What does it matter if your front and back are cracked but the 1 mm thin titanium wrap around looks 20% better than aluminum wood after a few falls. In fact, there are several YouTube clips showing the aluminum holds up better. So what is the end Utility. It’s a 100% Gimmick but they couldn’t go back on it because they were out and they needed something new and people are buying it marketing line and sinker based on a actual scienceYes, I saw this. By that footage as a reference, the edges of the housing are roughly 50/50 aluminum/titanium fused together. That’s not insignificant, and I’d argue passes for more than a thin coating.

Seriously!!! An ounce is an ounce, regardless of the material. An ounce of feathers weighs the same as an ounce of lead. The mere fact that you made such a statement disqualifies almost everything you stated.Titanium, ounce per ounce is heavier than aluminum.
Your wish came true.I wish I was wrong about this
You have to prove you are right, no one has to prove a negative. You made the statements. It is not other's task to negate your statements. You made a statement, now prove your statement.I want someone to prove me wrong
I'm not arguing with you regarding titanium vs. aluminum. I'm stating that Titanium vs. stainless steel contributes to the lighter weight. SS is significantly heavier.Titanium, ounce per ounce is heavier than aluminum. The reason the phone is lighter is due to the overall build and has nothing to do with that thin 1 mm titanium wraparound again, it is completely false marketing 100%. Account created yesterday...enough said.Prove it.

Yes, I see how my grammar was cofusing and I see that, typing too quick. But titanium is heavier than aluminum. This is a strange feeling. It sounds like I keep repeating myself and you keep arguing things other than my main arguments. Still waiting for just one person on any forum to prove me wrong. My arguments: 1) Titanium is heavier and the 2) titanium phone breaks easier.Prove it.

i guess the word titanium itself must be a really good selling point, because when you list all the downsides it doesn't sound like very much of an upgradetitanium is not a good conductor... while it has good tensile strength, lighter, but the downside is titanium scuff and scratch easily and is not forgiving in terms of impact/shock absorption in comparison of SS
Yes, 100% a gimmick, not 99%. I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that they did this, or the fact that the majority of people are hook line and sinker.i guess the word titanium itself must be a really good selling point, because when you list all the downsides it doesn't sound like very much of an upgrade
the word titanium is a bit like kevlar - it makes the product sound indestructable
What is “SS”? Also you said it’s lighter. Titanium is not lighter than the prior aluminum frame. it’s heavier. The phone is lighter overall but that’s not the titanium or the frame.i guess the word titanium itself must be a really good selling point, because when you list all the downsides it doesn't sound like very much of an upgrade

There are other attributes involved besides just weight. But titanium is heavier than aluminum
Thanks for the comments. My response is…. It doesn’t matter, because if out for ounce, titanium is stronger, it’s not helping at all due to the way the sides is bonded to the phone so it now breaks easier, so what does it matter that it’s a stronger material. Titanium has good tensile strength, the downsides far outweigh the pros. The way they connected the frame to the body allows for cracking of the front and back screen significantly easier than any iPhone in the Priore 5 to 6. Online strength, durability and drop tests on the 15 Pro to verify. Next, it’s not as scratch proof and dent proof, as they say. Drop test have also shown that as compared to the prior aluminum frame. In fact, titanium scuff and scratch more easily and is not forgiving in terms of impact/shock absorption in comparison to the regular 15 not Pro phone. Bottom line: not stronger or tougher. Oh but it’s used in space... which is a nonsense argument. I could see Apple execs sitting around the table, saying we need something new on the new phone, but we don’t have anything ready, while deciding on Titanium pros and cons when some guy stands up just then and said stop with the logic, it’s all about emotions. Just imagine the commercial… in space!!!! Sidenote: Titanium is not a good conductor. Also, in terms of heat, even if titanium is better at dispersing heat than stainless, it is not necessarily more durable. Bottom line: the phone breaks easier and while the phone is lighter, the titanium is not why. The titanium adds weight compared to what was used prior. It’s a 100% marketing Gimmick - not 99%. 100%. I’m looking for someone that can prove me wrong. I want to be wrong. Just don’t think I am.There are other attributes involved besides just weight.
Although titanium is about two-thirds heavier than aluminum, its inherent strength means that you need less of it. In fact, you need a fraction of the amount of titanium to get the same physical strength you would get with aluminum
