What kind of speakers do you have? And how much were they?

Thanks, great setup by the way :D

Thanks a lot!

It's the KRK Rokit G2 RP6 special edition in white :) They look and sound amazing.

I gave $590, but I'm sure you can get them way cheaper in the US. The Danish taxes are crazy.

Would love to have an ACD, but it costs $1500 ($500 more than US!!) just because of the taxes (and Apple know they can charge more). So I'm selling the MBP and getting an iMac when I'm done with school this summer :)

One funny observation I've had about the 18 and under setups is that the chairs look way less comfortable than the ones I see in the normal setups thread. ... and many of you guys have .....

How do you guys put up with those desks?! Some of them appear to be barely big enough to fit a computer.. and many are in rooms more than big enough to fit a normal sized desk. You're (probably) in school.. so you probably do a lot of paper homework right? Why torture yourself like that?!

Also, mad props for the amount of DESKTOPS I see. Holy cow! I love desktops! Way to go.

My only claim to 18 and under fame was when I had a QS G4 and Cinema back in my days on MacNN - I made a lot of people on that forum hate me out of sheer jealousy (well, they were a pretty screwed up crowd anyway). lol :D Admittedly, it cost about as much as a new Hyundai at the time.. oh well.

@DoFoT9 and JoeG4... are you guys talking about my pic?

If so, its my bedroom lol. It was actually the old master bedroom, but when my parents remodeled they made a HUGE room for themselves and gave me that one and got me my desk/workstation and everything along with it.

Desk is really messy though... I've cleaned it up a bit since that picture was taken, but I need to do a better job! Bookshelves are pretty much filled up now too :p

Why hide the good stuff if you get what I'm saying

I'm kidding. But I do agree that room is HUGE! Is that another room or a closet/bathroom on the hallway?

Yah, down the hall (not really a hall) there are 4 custom closets(not walk in though) on the right, and a full bathroom on the left.

And I think the queen sized bed and the fireplace(not seen in the picture) are good enough for the ladies don't you?... Oh and the balcony with a view of the Mulholland Hills of Los Angeles ;) (again, not pictured)

Not really in the age range for here (20 now), but I do have pictures of my old setup from 2009 and early 2010. Take note, though - pretty poor lighting for these pictures. (In fact, I think the situation's only marginally improved since then... bleh.)

My old CRTs and, barely visible, my PCs. The one on the left I still use, albeit in a very much upgraded state (think an enormous processor, video, and RAM upgrade), and the right one (running Damn Small Linux with 28MB of RAM... yikes) has since been retired. I remember having to use that as my primary once - not fun, though at least Nesticle, Genecyst, and mIRC ran fine under Win98. I still run XP on the left machine as well, although I did run 7 until it blew up in my face.

Keyboard and mouse from said time (black tower). My mother uses said mouse now, and the keyboard is set up to my server.

Keyboard and mouse from said time (white tower). Both are retired now, though if I need to dig anything up from that tower I get the keyboard. I think I actually truly started experimenting with Linux when I crammed DSL into about a 100MB space on here.

A more typical usage picture from said era. I'd dual monitor then, too, but having a GMA945 really isn't conducive to it... in power nor did I have enough ports. Also, I no longer leave any money loose like that - I'm still baffled at my past tendency to do that.

A more recent shot, circa early 2010 (January - hey, I was still 18 then...). The lighting's horrible here, but you may be able to make out the MDD I used until I got my MBP a couple of weeks ago. I still use the monitor on the left, and the one on the right has since been relegated to my server in case I need to directly use it.

I'll... admit, I kind of miss these setups. I've certainly improved it over time (though not as much as I'd like), but there's a certain nostalgia value to these pictures. Plenty of these are even nicer than my current!

Sick setup, really clean.

My setup right now keeps on changing, but I really hope to have a nice one once I'm done with college and have a decent paying job...
Anyone know any reasonable alternatives to the ACD? it's so darn expensive==

Thank you! Glad you like it.

You can get the 24" relatively cheap online now (second-hand) so you might just look there. If you want the 27", on the other hand, I wouldn't know..

My own opinion is that a Mac just looks better when attached to an ACD - and not just some random Samsung, Dell or whatever display. So just go with the 24" ACD if you don't want to spend too much money. :D
