I posted this in the other setup thread. But I guess since I'm 17 I'll post it here too:

I paid for half of the powerbook, bought the rest myself.
Cool setup.

Well, I just turned 18 today and also got the ACD today as well - I am in Mac nirvana!

And before anyone brings it up...
I am 18 and work at a pizza restaurant as well as do some freelance web design on the side. I paid for everything myself from money that I earned, including the software (Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia, etc.), RAM, the iPod, etc. and the Powerbook. My parents paid for the ACD, but they had promised me a long time ago if I got a scholarship to college they would by me a computer and 23 inch ACD....I just got into UGA with a HOPE scholarship and they decided to let me have the ACD early so I wouldn't have to squint on the 12 inch PB screen while working on my graphics projects.

What desk is that in the picture?

It is a Z-Line Pacific Desk, available from Staples.com. It's only $60 at the moment, which is a fantastic deal IMO. However, I have yet to figure out how the CD rack works. The CDs will fit in the slots, but they just rest there and any little tap and they fall off. Other than that, it's great.

So you made over 3 grand mowing lawns in 2 months?

You either worked at least 60 hours a week or are getting grossly overpaid.
Woops, never replied to this, worked on 2+ acre lawns, working all day (usually 7-8hrs) 4-5 times a week. My prices are CHEAP.

1 acre = 20
1.5 = 25
2 = 30
2.5 = 35
3 = 40, etc etc

my competitor, yes i had a damn competitor in the neighborhood, was charging $50+ per acre. I think he is getting "grossly overpaid" :rolleyes: ;)

Nice set-up! Happy 18th, I have another 6 months to go before I turn 18. Anyhow, good luck off at College, and have fun with the 23-inch ACD.

Happy BDAY! I must say though, I hate how anyone that is younger and receives anything nice emmediatly feels the need to defend that they paid for it with their own money, or else they will be slammed by the very jeolous masses.

Yeah I'll bite. That's hard work and sweat. I concede.

Heh, lol, that's what I did too. Only I think it's fun so I didn't mind. I got like $20 for 1/2 acre lawns per week. Not bad, it starts to add up quickly. 3 lawns a week is 60/week or 240/month!

Then I did a web design project for $200 which took me 4 hours and I decided it's a lot easier and even more fun :).

I didn't really buy my iBook though, I sold my quicksilver for $700 and only had to pay like $400 more for the 'book, so I made out pretty good.

I bought the soundsticks and everything but the PowerBook myself :p.

Specs: 12" PB G4
1.5ghz
80gb HD
768mb RAM
AE+BT 2
iSight (semi-behind the comp)
Some desk from Office Depot

Yes, that is a giant candy cane thing on my shelf there. :p

I wish I could mow my neighbor's lawns. Most of them have professional lawn services. I have a tractor = easy work.

I used to get paid $40 for mowing my grandmas 1 acre lawn, with her tractor, with her gas.

well guy you know my setup changes very frenquently

right now its G3 iBook 12" 700mhz 640mb 40gb combo (on an iCurve)
and a Powermac GigaBite Ethernet G4 1ghz 1gb 80gb Geforce 3 Superdrive (with a junky crt lol) logitech wireless duo and soundsticks.
iPods: 1G 4gb Pink Mini, 4G 20gb B/W, 512mb Shuffle

Later this week my parents get the G3 iBook and in its place comes a 15" 1.5ghz G4 Powerbook 1gb 80gb Combo
Also comming is a G4 Mac Mini 1.42ghz 512mb 80gb Combo
If I had a camera I would take pictures of all this stuff

In my office I have a G3 500mhz iMac, G3 333mhz iMac, G4 Sawtooth 500mhz, and a old PC (lol I really need to sell all this junk) and tons of parts too.

What i would like in the future is to keep the G4 Powerbook, and the Mini for a TV/Mac and also get a Dual G4 or G5 for editing, gaming, movies and such. Also would like 17" dual lcds or larger :)
I think I have some unrealistic goals.
If I finally get a SLR camera soon I will take pictures and keep them updated.
