Well I'm 15, and at the minute I'm afraid - nothing! I'm posting from my dads computer at the moment. This is because I used to have a IBM R40e which was good but was getting rather slow compared to the latest computers, it was my first laptop - I had from new. Having Sold this I'm now saving for the iBook I need only £120 more! :D

I'm trying to make that up by;

Selling things on ebay.
Looking for new clients to design websites for.
..and these ads --- here --- which if you click on I get like 8p or something... you REALLY want to click them go on ;) Help me get an iBook!

What the hell is wrong with you guys?

Come on, give this guy a break... he said he earned his money - calling him a liar and having a pop at him for what he has got is out of order. the lad is 13 years old, get off his back - what does it matter to you all? (this isnt all aimed at the quoted poster)

Well done mate, nice set-up. I know i made plenty of money when i was your age - although i spend my cash on mountain bikes and sweets :)

Nothing is wrong with me. I'd just like to know where he's working, then I can get a job there and make 200k/ year painting fences or something.

Although I've been trying to stay out of this argument, that seems a bit harsh. Just because we're under 18, that doesn't mean we can't make some decent money on our own.

I've been trying to keep my mouth shut, but you keep going on over something that, in the long run, doesn't really matter.

First of all, your insistance upon defining summer as "two months" is just plain ignorance. Summer is three months long by definition. Around here, though, most "summer" jobs run from the first of May through the end of August.

Do the math. That's four months. Works out to what? $125 a week? That's five lawns a week around here. Doesn't sound nearly as far-fetched as you want it to be.

Well I don't know, I just remember school ending in late June, and starting early September. So that leaves... wait.. I'm thinking.... July and August... one plus one equals... wait.. I know this one... Uh, two. Which means summer vacation is two months long. So now since 'most' summer jobs according to you start in May, you could throw in weekends in May and June.

Look, either way it boils down to he's being grossly overpaid for doing a very simple job, which is super for him. That's all I was expressing in my 200k/ year painting fences comment.

I dont have me camera with me but heres what I have;
iBook 1.42 (In my sig)
Altec Lansing 5.1 Speakers
HP Athlon 2800+ (OC'd to 3400+), 1gb ram, FX5700, 160gb and 80gb Hd's.
Canon SD400
Logitech MX1000
iPod 4th Gen 40gb
Canon Pixima 6000D.

Got from mowing lawns, BTW im 16.
When I get a job ill probably buy a G5 instead of saving for a car..

Uhh, yeah. I sold my $1,300 PC to her (had no choice, grrr) and she just gave me $500. So shut it.:rolleyes:

Oh... w/e. You told me before that she was paying for $500.

And for the people that thing that a teen is a spoiled brat becuase they have a sweet setup... thats just not true.

I raised all the money for my iBook and was giving some accesories for b-day and Xmas presents

iBook G4 800mhz Refurbed, Cdrom = $749
Airport Card= $79
JBL Creatures= $99
Ram= Xmas Gift
PSC 1350= Xmas Gift
Mouse= Gift
Combo Drive= $175
NEC 1770nx= $325
Keyboard= $29
Canon w/ 512 SD card= B-day gift
Nano= $220

Total My Cost: $1,676

Parents Costs: $360

and sense i've probably payed for this over about 20 months... thats about $83 a month... which isnt very much for a teen nowdays.

Also, I have to put half my earnings into savings... so spoiled brat? me? no way!

Please! Professionals get paid $65 for 2,000 sq ft! :rolleyes:

Why does it annoy people that people pay $25 bucks a lawn a $10 an hour for babysitting??? Its called INFLATION! :rolleyes:

P.S BTW lilstewart, you told me the same thing about your mom paying $500 towards your iMac. God, it's not like your going to hell becuase your mom payed for a little less than half of your iMac. Because if that were true, I would probably be there already! ;)

Crappy Comp

My comp is really getting old. its a dual 400 mhz processer quicksilver g4 thingy. You guys are so lucky. My dad works for apple and you still have better comps.:mad:

Im 18, freshmen in college and altho im without a digital camera here is my setup:

17" Powerbook (4 months old)
1 gig ram, 80 gig hard drive, external 15 gig storage(lol its a broken ipod)
I have the powerbook sit on an icurve and have a 19" Dell monitor used for secondary display. I then have a 24" TV hooked up to the Powerbook for watching movies. I have my receiver with 210 watt system (just 2 powerful speakers) used as well and they are my dads old system which is 25 years old but still kicks

I saved up for the powerbook for 3 years, i got the TV for free and the monitor (which is flat and new) for free as well. the broken ipod was given to me for free also. basically i switched from PCs to macs this year b/c i got tired of having to know so much.

too bad smilemon (or w/e your name is) doesnt live where i go to school, at this bargain shop they are selling a dual 1 gig Mirror Door Quicksilver system for 200 bucks. i wish i had the money/reason to buy this awesome system

Ask the rents for a loan... then sell. thats an awesome deal! you could sell it for probably around $600 depending on specs.

Well, I just turned 18 today and also got the ACD today as well - I am in Mac nirvana!

And before anyone brings it up...
I am 18 and work at a pizza restaurant as well as do some freelance web design on the side. I paid for everything myself from money that I earned, including the software (Adobe Creative Suite, Macromedia, etc.), RAM, the iPod, etc. and the Powerbook. My parents paid for the ACD, but they had promised me a long time ago if I got a scholarship to college they would by me a computer and 23 inch ACD....I just got into UGA with a HOPE scholarship and they decided to let me have the ACD early so I wouldn't have to squint on the 12 inch PB screen while working on my graphics projects.

Very cool setup. Happy birthday too. :)

I think I might've posted mine here already, I'll repost it when I get a new monitor (and a new camera).

I posted this in the other setup thread. But I guess since I'm 17 I'll post it here too:

Here is my current set up. It changes a lot, but here it is as of 5 minutes ago. :)

From in my chair:

From a few feet back. On the rack is my receiver, CD player, DVD/VCR, equalizer and all that good stuff. Up top is my printer and wireless router.

Pics are pretty crappy but you get the idea.

I paid for half of the powerbook, bought the rest myself.
