Where the hell do you live that you're making thousands as a 14 year old? I don't think so buds. You live off your parents like leeches, just like I did at that age. Don't act independent; you're spoiled.

What do I do? Hmm, I started a paper run when I was 8 years old and had that for 3 years.

Right now I work for Parkside Media and write for Macguide.

I mow neighbors lawns weekly (4 a week), and I sold my website yesterday for $1500 USD.

Happy now?

Update

I just got my TiBook (you can see specs and notes on my setup here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/amacgeniusdotcom/99362750/), and so it's not joining my setup:

I agree with you, but you're about to feel the wraith of many preteens. I made a similar post earlier in this thread and got my ass handed to me.

I have a $500 computer along with a 15" CRT that was going to be thrown out. I made $500 last summer by mowing lawns and baby sitting. I think so buds.

They dont understand. Themselves and maybe 10 of their friends "worked" for their computers and they see that as all teens doing the same. When in fact they are the minority, most kids do not work for their posessions. Then they still dont consider the fact that just because they worked for the money that doesnt mean their parents didnt help them...their parents provided food, clothes, shelter so that the kids could spend their money on gadgets instead of a mortagage or a car note. Either way it works out they are privledged if not spoiled, especially those with multiple computers and ipods. One computer, I dont see the problem with.

Just because you didn't make money at your age, and couldn't save towards a common goal, does not mean that no one else can. All I'm gonna say. I got most of my money from graduation and dog sitting on my block and working part time as a computer tech/assistant at my dad's company.

Anyway, here is my setup. I will post a better looking one when I get my desk up in a few months.

I agree with you, come people can be naive as well. My parents philosophy was we'll pay half or all for sports stuff (like hockey and soccer equipment) and same goes for musical instruments like drums and guitars. But as far as electronics goes my parents have paid a total of 175$ from the time i got my gameboy to now where i have a 360 and a Hi def display with a mac mini coming in the mail. but i do think i am still spoiled, or just very fortunate, because i am fed well and live with a good family. many people are MUCH less fortunate and they don't even know what a computer is let alone a tv. in this society we have to take time to think about people that would take clean drinking water over a xbox 360 and all the macs in the world (not literally). so yea, just think about that when you tell your parents you want to buy another mac, or are constantly selling things you buy in spite.

end rant/

Everybody is not blessed with such nice things. But you've got to agree that you have a little something if you can afford a mac. so don't trip.. if you work hard enough you'll get everything you want.

15 and a demi-god! Holy @*%&! What do you do all day! I thought 15 year olds were supposed to be outside riding thier bikes or something, not on the computer all day!
(looks in mirror)
Okay, Im a hypocrite. So shoot me.

my setup:
eMac 1ghz 40Gbyte HDD, 768 Mbyte RAM, Screen spanning hack,
(1) 120 Gbyte FW HDD,
(1) 160 Gbyte HDD,
(1) FW DVD/CD +- RW,
Midiman Mixim 10 mixer (routes Computer, iPod, guitar through my speakers),
5G iPod,
Canon XL-1 3CCD video camera (money that was supposed to buy a car!)
for school: 500mhz iBook

Ordering tomorrow: MBP 1.83 ghz!

All that and a relatively clean room: Priceless.

EDIT*
Went back and started reading some of the posts. People please don't fall into the web of internet bullying (big article in Time magazine) its annoying and just because the victims don't know you/cant find you doesn't make it okay. If you are jealous because their parents can afford 17 G5's then go hit a pillow or something, don't make MR people feel bad.
On that note I agree that it is better to buy yourself and parents need to stop buying their kids everything they want because we are raising a generation of people that
A) are unable to take care of themselves/understand basic economic concepts
B) Charge everything to a credit card and are unable to purchase a house when the time comes because they have crappy credit.
D) Expect mom and dad to come running when they need a little help.

I am not pointing any fingers, I just call it as I see it.

Dell 15" LCD
Epson C86 Printer
Maxtor 300gb external HD
Apple Pro Keyboard (rev b, white)
Sony Clie TJ37
Canon LiDE 30 Sacnner

Well, I'm a high school senior, and here's what I have.

iBook (Late 2001) 12.1", 600Mhz G3, 20GB HDD, 384MB RAM, Combo Drive (the HDD is dying and the LCD has been cracked, so [before the HDD started going] I had it hooked up to a PC flatscreen my uncle lent me. No pics since it's not operating right now...

See sig. for my other stuff; I hope to be getting a low-end MacBook Pro within the coming weeks. If I get it before I turn 18, I'll post a pic or two.

For those of you who are amazed that teens have decent computers, perhaps the setups are family computers that are mostly used by the teens (most of my non-computer nerd friends are in that situation), and thusly posted about here.

Why do we have to go over this ever 3 pages???

Interesting point:

I see it as useless for me to have a car while in school, high school and (probably) college. Insurance costs waaaaay too much, as does gas (we Californians have higher-quality [or so I hear, at least environmental-standards-wise], ergo more expensive, stuff then the rest of you), and since my high school is on my dad's way to work, they give me a ride. They pay a bit of insurance for me to be on their cars as the tertiary (non-primary/secondary, yeah, I started the use of that term in this situation) driver, so I can take their cars if I need to go someplace (i.e. work) and it doesn't cost too much.

Since I don't spend any of my money on a car, I spend/save it on/for computer(s), peripherals, and college.

Very smart way to do it. Like you said cost way to much in CA. If you don't need one yet waiting and putting money up for college is a good idea. And having money for other fun things.

I'm 13. My setup is (provided by Grandparents/Self, but GREATLY appreciated!)

Mac Mini 1.25 Ghz 256 MB RAM 10.4.4 (I am working off/paying for)

20 Inch Cinema Display (provided graciously by Grandparents!!)

iPod 4th Gen 20 GB (provided by Grandparents - I usually just get 1 big present from them a year, so this was it last year, and the 20 incher this year)

iBook G4 (provided by school, I get to take it home) 1.07 Ghz 256 MB RAM 10.3.9

JBL Creature II Speakers (another grandparent gift)

Apple Keyboard/Mighty Mouse

Some HP Printer (again, my grandparents, I didn't even want a printer! but i'm not complaining!(

That's all I can think of. Some of you probably assume that I am a brat who just gets whatever he wants, but it isn't really like that, there's other stuff, and I appreciate what I get!

No kidding there! I'm upgrading from my 17" to a couple of BenQ 20" panels pretty soon here - I was going to buy an Apple 20", but I can get two BenQs for the price of one Apple. Ah, well -- you're lucky that your grandparents pay for your equipment. It's good you appreciate it. :)

I'd love to see pics, as well, BTW.

Finally got around to taking a picture of my setup.

compsetup5en.jpg

iBook G4
- 14"
- 512 MB of RAM (looking to upgrade soon)
- Combo Drive (yes I'm too cheap to pay for the Super Drive)
- 60 GB Hard Drive
- yadda yadda; you get it

There is also my Wacom Graphire4 6" x 8" Tablet and my other monitor, it's an old Samsung SyncMaster750s we got with an old PC. Not too grand but hey, it was free to me!

I'm 15 and I paid for the iBook. The tablet was a Christmas gift and the monitor is just an old one we weren't using.

Sure, here you go! (I'm watching Ren & Stimpy) I sure love the display, and I'm going to see my Grandparents in San Francisco this weekend! We're probably going to go to the Apple store and I may just pick up some good stuff, :D, well hopefully. On another note, I'm going to have to have my school send in my laptop to Apple - I cracked a hinge! And sometimes i have a blue line going accross my screen... Hopefully all will be well soon. Enough with the chatter, here are the pics!
