Yes, but I think a magnet that can''t even attract a paperclip that is 2cm away from it is going to hurt your hard drive. Plus, there is a the plastic or aluminum casing of the computer (both not magnetic) and then there is a thick metal casing on the hard drive.
The latch of my iBook and PowerBooks and the magnets in their speakers obviously do not hurt the hard drive since the ibook is like 5 years old and the PowerBook is 1.5 years, I would not be concerned that a little magnet that's 2ft in a subwoofer speaker away (that is covered with wood or plastic) is going to hurt my hdd.
