How did you live like that?
well for the last 5 years i have coped with depression, contemplating suicide and stress related insomnia so thats basically how i lived with it. My life has gotten better lately and i have finally been getting longer than 1 hour of sleep a night so I have had a chance to concentrate on cleaning
probly for the first time in my life I have been almost happy with what i live in.

my family has a history of depression and I know how bad it can be- I have experienced it myself (on any major scale), however it can put a strain on the strongest of ties. I am very glad to hear you are doing better

When I saw your room, I knew that was the situation.

Went through it myself. :(

Well done. It's hard isn't it :( I found the best way was to get myself organised, I had something to look forward to at the end of the day, which was getting home to my room which I was very proud of.

thanks everyone, well today i spent the whole day cleaning the walls with sugar soap and now they look a crap load better, now all i have to do is get the rest of the wax off which may take a while
@ Killyp for you it was organisation, for me it was music. The whole day I would have an earphone in, whether it would be to my cd palyer, my ipod or even my tape player. It was basically what got me through everyday

why not give it a new color? Like painting the walls some nice soothing color?
thats what im planing but i dont have the money to go out and buy paint at the moment, maybe at christmas when we are doing renovations or even sooner if i get my final payout from my old work

You can often find paint in discontinued colours they're practically giving away. I'd spend half a day with a box of plaster filler (I think you call it spackle over there) and some fine sandpaper (or scratch, as we call it in the trade), before you even think of painting. Very therapeutic. A good surface is almost as important psychologically as a good colour.

thanks for the idea but its a sunday night over here so i might check tomorrow, and from what i know we still call it plaster filler
now what type of colour to go with......

elisha, my sister once wanted to paint her room in a light yellow color. Anyway, she painted one wall (converted attic room btw), then found out it was too dark. You might want to paint one pair of walls in a rich yellow color, leave the rest clean white. it gives the room a warm feeling. At least it worked for my sister's room, but it's not really high and she has hardwood floors.

I think the paint chip color is usually more vibrant on the wall, so get a shade less vibrant. It's an optical illusion.

Yep. You're supposed to get a shade lighter than the color you actually want. On the chip there is very little amount of color but when you cover the entire wall it looks a lot darker. My mom is was an interior designer.

Tim, that photo does nothing for your setup (note-we are freinds, I aint a stalker or anything :p). I'd post mine, but as I have a MacBook I don't really have one-I go where ever I want to :D.

Having said that, here is where I spend some of my time:
Old Setup
My setup has changed a bit from when that was taken, its now a LOT tidyier.

PS. Tim, why dont you show your windtunnel server? Its so loud I cant bear it  !

Alright Alright Alright, enough already. The person has told us why their room looked like that and they are now changing their life for the better! I posted my response before I knew backround information, and then I said I was sorry! So stop with these posts. "elisha cuthbert" keep up the good work!
