As much as the keyboard might be in a convenient place, you need to move it if you want to get the best sound out of them KRK's. Never put anything in front of speakers in a recorded environment except yourself.

how do you have room for that in a dorm!Actully, friend whos also a frosh at NYU said some of the room are enormous, so i guess its possible.

He could elevate the speakers with a block of wood so the keyboard wouldn't interfere with them.

Reply to posts regarding my setup...

The picture I posted was from my house, prior to moving into the dorms. The desk is some cheap $100 desk from Musiciansfriend.com (guitarcenter) it's decent enough, kind of laborious to put together, but watever. It's a little bit different in the dorm room, so I'll post some pics from the room to give you a sense of what that's like.
-Regarding the monitor (KRK) placement.. when working on a session, I'd put the KRK's up ontop of the keyboard for reference, but when they were jsut sitting there, I'd put them back on teh desk, because I was afraid of them falling off or something.. but in the dorm room, they're at a good level, and I've put some padding underneath them to raise them at an angle towards my ears.

This is just another shot of the setup at home on that desk..

I like them they were £100, so u cant complain, they work and no dead pixels. I think they're quite good, but the graphics card on my pcs are crap so u cant really judge them that well

Don't mind the mess, it's my problem not yours.

That's a black macbook in the middle if I zoom right in isn't it? :p

Have you got your hifi hooked up to the MB? You'd get a pretty good sound with the speakers were they are (ear level right in front of you)...

Umm, yeah, jealousy stings

I think everyone should post their job and how they got into it, so lame-o's like me can upgrade from crappy Dells to super Apple setups. I'm nearly sixteen and barely have enough money for lunch, and you guys have MacPros and iMacs, crazy.

So just write a little spiel about your yob and how you started.

I'd like that too. I make about 60€ a month, and know a guy who makes 450€ a month working for some kind of concert organisation firm, but he won't tell me how he got the job. oh, and he says minimum age is 16. apparently, people under 16 years get crappy jobs except for like 0.5%, and everyone over 16 is free to make 200-500€ a month.

Good God, how do you study? Where do you find room to write?

And what's that little dock for? A camera?

Haha.. my lap, and I just got the Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse for mac, so I have a little more flexibility. The kitchen table ( i live in apartment style housing) is also quite useful for doing homeowrk on.

Yeah, that's a dock for my sony digicam (dsc-t33, white, 5.1 megapixel).

Just got my MacBook Pro and thought I'd take a picture of it (sorry about the poor quality and it being sideways)

since someone earlier in the thread wanted to know what everyone does, I don't have a job yet. (unless selling stuff on ebay counts :D)
