Not really, cause I get my Anti-Virus software for free and plus me being a gamer a Mac wouldn't have worked out anyway. Plus, I've never had a virus anyway so I'm not worried about it now.

No, expensive means it costs a lot of money for what it's worth. The Dell still costs less.

It's like saying I couldn't afford the Aston Martin, so I went for a Skoda which was 30% less...

Did anyone noticed that the wallpaper on his iMac is the same as his PSP beside the computer? I think thats a PSP its a little blurry to tell.

This thread is hilarious. seriously I love how everyone is trying to deny that they are or they are not spoiled!. who cares?

I have a 16 year old friend who drives around a brand new land rover (the yuge ones) and she doesn't really seem too happy, I can't really think of any ways it has made her life better, or more enjoyable. I drive a vintage bicycle and I can't express my happiness as I cruise though the park in the early morning on the way to school. But she's still my friend and it's tons of fun for her to drive me around, we stopped to get gas once and it cost $52 to fill the tank. Ha.

Those who are yelling "Spoiled kids!" are just buying in to the same illusion that a material thing will make your life "better." Not to mention that getting such a ridiculous car at her age will make cars less enjoyable as she grows older, as they continue to get harder to "top". where do you upgrade from landrover? ferrari? batmobile? spaceshuttle? Getting a ****** car in highschool makes life more enjoyable in the future.

As far as computers go, hotwire here has a business and ridiculous setup to go with it. If I was making the same kind of cash I would run to the apple store as soon as I could.

Instead I have been editing on a Powermac G4 867 quicksilver with 256MB ram for the past 3 years. I run Final Cut Pro 3 and it flies on this setup. You don't need much of a computer to edit, unless you are doing a lot of corny special effects. The most important thing you can have is harddrive space (which I have a lot of).

I'm 17 by the way, and I will be applying to NYU tisch school of the arts in the fall.

After all these years behind the G4, I will probably shout a cry of jubilation when I get a G5 because of the absurd speed increase... and it will be worth it.

I can say with confidence that I am not spoiled.
I am 17 and I love with my single mother who is an RN.
I work full time and pay for everything I own.
Including my car and computers.

Agreed. I'm 17, live at home with my single mom who is a daycare provider, and whom has been fighting for child support for three years. Lawyer and court fees continue to get us further behind, with no money coming in from my dad.

I have had a job since two months after turning 15. This was right after my parents got divorced. It was especially hard, because my dad has plenty of money, and if they were still together, I know I'd be driving a new Camaro or Vette right now. Instead, I drive a '96 Monte Carlo that I saved up for myself. I pay for the insurance and gas myself. I pick up my sister from school each day, on my own tab, because my mom is working. I've paid for all the repair...you guessed it, by myself. That includes brakes, calipers, an alternator, a battery, and a $1800 transmission rebuild.

I work my @$$ off making $8/hour. I've had the same job flipping burgers this whole time. All the while, I continue to keep an above 4.0GPA because of the three college classes I'm taking in highschool. In addition, I am the editor-in-chief of the school paper. The second highest rated in the state, mind you.

And you know what, this is all mine:

EDIT: And oh yeah, paying for college, 100%, all by myself next year will be especially fun.

I'm 14, and I have the following:

1-12"powerbook 1.0ghz 768mb ram DVD±RW, 100GB hard drive
1-12"iBook 1.2Ghz 512mb ram combo drive, 30GB hard drive
1-15" Tibook 667mhz 512mb ram DVD±RW 30GB hard drive
1-15" crt iMac 400mhz 368mb ram DVD-rom 8GB hard drive
1-14"iBook 1.42Ghz 512mb ram DVD±RW, 60GB Hard drive
1-Powerbook duo 2300 32mb ram, no cd/floppy, 1GB hard drive
1-powerbook G3-400mhz 256mb ram dvd-rom 30GB hard drive
1-color classic 32mhz, and forget the rest
1-NeXT step computer (think this counts) 1GB Hard drive, 2 printers, 1 17 or 19" crt display, 64Mb ram, and NeXT step OS 3.4 (I think...) it was the last model made, but not the cube, the better one :)

And as for stuff to go with it,

sony PSP
iPod mini 1st gen silver
iPod shuffle on it's way
moto razr vc3
17"display
lightware lcd projector
HP color laserjet 2550

If PCs count,

I made an
athlon 3000+ at 2.4Ghz, 768ram, 256mb video card, CD+RW, DVD±RW, 160GBHD, 100GB HD, and a 40GB HD

Yes I realise I have quite a few computers to myself...but I get things cheap and sometimes free (my projector was free, and all it needed was a new light...but they had alredy bought a new one so I got it).

I pay for most of my stuff with a self employed job repairing computers right, the first time, for just $20/hr...vs geek squad at around $200/hr

My new setup isn't quite as new anymore, thanks to my NEW setup :D

limited edition- 450R- totally spokes Yamaha's new raptor! This is the last one for sale within 500 miles. Computers.... don't seem quite as important. Plus, I like my new Blacbook just fine.

I hate you, i'm saving up for one right now.

I finally bought some decent furniture for my office (for those who haven't seen my earlier posts, I run a video production business.), so here's a few photos of the new setup :) (Sorry for the pic quality; I keep forgetting to bring in my digital camera so I finally broke down and took the pics with my Razr.)

The first three photos are of my Edit Suite (Power Mac G5 in the office; MacBook Pro on the go). The last photo is the setup of my receptionist; she's on an older (400Mhz) Power Mac G4.

I'm not envious of MattCube's setup as much as I am of his work ethic. Impressive. Oh the things I could accomplish were I nearly as motivated. Keep working hard, it pays off (clearly).

That same honda 450R? This thing is sweet bro. Honda is doing a 9.9% APR deal right now- and with a 3k down payment, I should have it payed off within a year. It's a screamer!

yup, a bunch of my friends just bought one and they go out to the desert every other week, i went last time and rode a three wheeler and that was not fun.

Here's my Mac setup. I'm 17 so I guess I'll post it in both threads. Just got a fresh coat of white paint. Everything in my room is black & white now. :D I'm not spoiled. I work for this stuff. (^_^)
*Snippety snip snip*

Its kinda ironic that the Mac Mini is smaller than the reciever, isnt it? :D

Instead of posting your age, your job, your parent's job, the amount of money you earn/receive, or anything else related to flexing your ego, just post your setup. It will naturally be assumed that, if you post here, you are under 18, and in all reality, it doesn't matter whether you're rich or poor, spoiled or hard-working.

So, to reiterate:
- Don't tell us your age
- Don't tell us your job
- Don't tell us your parents' job(s)
- Don't tell us how much money you earn/receive
- Don't be a jealous asshat about others' setups because from now on you won't know whether or not they deserve it. Assume whatever you please, but don't bitch or complain about it.

Thanks. :)
