Well, decided to pick up a case after all… about a week or two ago I ended dropping the Fold 6 on concrete.

Strangely fell out of my pocket while getting into the car… caused a minor dent on corner, was debating on slapping a skin on it. But I’ve been interested in those slim profile cases for a while now.. decided to pick one up through AliExpress (have a couple Watch bands as well).

How's the front edge? Do you have a screen protector? If so let's play nice.

I've been using my slim case for the camera side only

Yeah, I have a screen protector… actually needs to be replaced (slightly cracked when I had dropped it, nothing major). But was too anxious to place the case on the Fold 6.

Don’t have any issues with it while the screen protector is on, not as uniformed as I would have liked. But does the job as far as not showing the minor damage to the Fold 6 and most importantly protecting it.

Oh that's good , and definitely good idea the slim profile helps keeping it close to naked

I am sorry about the mishap

Another option is to get a sleeve

For my devices that I prefer using without a case I just shove them in as I go outdoors where there is risk of dropping

There are plenty of those tailor made pouches on the same AliExpress you are already buying from

Well, finally got some One UI 7 leaks with some information regarding foldables. Not much discussion on how Samsung will incorporate tablet-specific features for One UI 7… that’s really what I’m interested in.

I’m curious… those who have a Galaxy Tab or Fold series, what are your requests for One UI 7? I’m personally hoping for more customization with the taskbar (resizing it, maybe do some preview over an app when hovering with an S-Pen)… right now there’s a bug limiting to only 2 recent apps.

I want them to bring back “At a Glance“ feature that was available using the S-Pen, not sure why that was removed. Really hoping they combine Notifications and Quick Panel Settings into two columns (similar to how Pixel Fold does it), but highly doubt it.

Now for Samsung Internet… which I believe its the best mobile browser, I want the option to have vertical tabs. Edge has this on the desktop… it would be awesome if Samsung can incorporate this for tablet-specific devices. Edit. Another request… two tabs side-by-side.

On the Files app, I want more view options available (right now it’s grid, detailed list and list)… I like the One UI 6.1.1 added feature when it comes to copying or moving a file when a dialog box opens up.

Now onto Gallery, I gotta say Apple knocked it out the park with the revamp of their Photos app.. I really do like what they did. Maybe do some copying there lol… I don’t mind it.

And Samsung Calendar just needs a major overhaul, I’m a fan of Fantastical app… I like how they have their UI setup on a larger-size screens. I think Samsung needs to do better with managing the screen real estate better, needs more thought applied to it.

I know Samsung plans to introduce more health features for One UI 7 and there’s going to be plenty of cosmetic changes. So, the things I listed above is what I hope Samsung address going forward. And when it comes to Samsung DeX… maybe Google will come to do a better job with external desktop support for Android 16.

Samsung was the driving force of this whole connect the phone to a PC/Monitor and get a desktop environment, but they are not as active when it comes to adding features. And I find it ridiculous they have this Classic DeX vs New DeX setup… because the New DeX doesn’t add anything but cosmetic changes.

Yeah I did the whole sleeve thing back when I had the Fold 2... But the whole pulling it out and in, just wasn’t for me anymore.

And the only reason why I did the sleeve because all the cases back then were bulky, going this route I don’t have to sacrifice too much to get a slim profile along with protection.

What watch are you coming from? And what are your first impressions of the Ultra?
I'm coming from the 6th gen classic

About 50 years back I had a Brietling using the same equilateral curved square case, but sadly I lost it, so I like the shape.

The stock orange strap is a bit loud for my taste but extremely comfortable, but will change it on Saturday for a dark strap.

The weight surprised me and it's not noticeable or the bulk.

The number of complications and options are great. I remember designing my own watch faces years back and it's almost not needed now with so many permutations on the stock designs the choice is massive and can be implemented in most of the complications positions.

I really like the red night time mode.

LTE is standard but a rip off in UK imo so probably won't use it.

Not set up the blood pressure and a few other bits and need to change the main crown action as I am not a workout chap

I thought I would miss the rotating bezel but because you can just tap on any of the 8 complications and get to the app it's actually simpler and faster than scrolling

Overall I am impressed how much more you get, but I have already turned the compass off lol

Yeah, I agree with this. It's not as weighty as I thought it would be...

That's what I like about having an Android Watch over an Apple Watch, the amount of designing we can do on it.

And I like having that red night mode as well.

Yeah, I don't plan on using it on mine. I have an iPad cellular on the account.. no need to add more to it. I used to occupy 3 lines when I was deep in Apple Ecosystem (iPhone, Watch and iPad)... but I'm not doing that anymore.

Thinking of getting a foldable, probably a Fold 6 or wait for the Fold 7. Never had a foldable before but are there any drawbacks I should've know about?

The only issues I've read about is the screen in the center of the hinge going black, and apparenly websites not working well for the foldable aspect ratio. Is the latter still true?

Well, not sure what device you are coming from. Speaking specifically about the Galaxy Fold... the drawbacks are of the bulkiness, no flagship camera technology (considering the price you are paying for it) and narrow front/outer screen.

But I think if you never had a foldable... I like the angle this video took.

And I personally never had neither of those issues.

I notice you have a Galaxy Fold 6 and Watch Ultra in your signature. I have a Fold 5 (got it for £999 brand new on a prime day deal) and GWU, both in the 30-day return window, and struggling to decide whether to keep or return. How are you finding them? I'm coming from an iPhone 12 Pro and Apple Watch Ultra 1. Still have both and can't decide which to keep. The AWU in particular is tough to let go of but the Fold is such an impressive piece of kit.

Well, I've been on the Galaxy Fold series since the 2nd generation (skip the 3rd and 5th)... so I embrace the whole foldable technology.

I tend to have my outer display geared for on-the-go or quick glance... don't really stay on it much. I like being able to unfold the device and get a different experience... given that we can customize the outer and inner display, it's nice feature for me.

And I'm huge proponent of taking advantage of all it has to offer (don't really use DeX as much)... from the S-Pen, multitasking and Good Lock. I can't see myself going to a different device. And the GWU is more of an extension to my Fold 6... for notifications, voice assistant particular for smart home, being able to control media playback and fitness tracking. I don't really dive heavy into the apps... I like the battery life and the bigger screen.

I'm curious what are you struggling with?
