As much as I'm a fan of the S-Pen... I'd wager if you were to give Fold users a choice between S-pen support or flagship-level camera, most would choose the latter.I'm very happy with the Galaxy Fold 6, but it does give "rage" that they release a "better" one for only two markets. Although I use the Spen a lot, so if it doesn't have compatibility with the Spen, I would take off quite a hype.
Yeah, I'm confused by this. Rumors have it costing north of 2k... normally SE versions Samsung release are budget conscious. Also the price for this special edition seems nuts and not sure why it’s that much given other Chinese foldables won’t cost this

well a 6,000 bah battery is coming in early 2025 for a foldable. samsung i'm sure will stick to their normal battery size for fold 7 though.I'd take a bigger battery over both those options 😉
Battery life is good enough for me… Of course, more battery life is welcoming. But I can always take a portable battery charger to extend the battery life.I'd take a bigger battery over both those options 😉

It's to try and compete with Chinese brands but even then I think it comes up short a little still specs wiseIsn't their SE line usually a cheaper version of their "Pro" model? This device seems like a mix of being better and worse (no S-Pen support) at the same time, so strange.
Very serious? I don’t know…. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy using the S-Pen as well. But not too many folks care for it, heck… some S24U users barely use it and they have it integrated.I think it solves some problems (thickness, main camera, not zoom), but the no compatibility with the Spen seems to me a very serious mistake. I use it a lot.
I don't buy into the constant supposedly criticism about it should be thinner, the SE and others are thinner because they are larger WxD so they can maintain battery sizeI’m mostly curious what Samsung plans to do going forward.
Will this Special Edition model become what we expect in the Fold 7? And they simple add S-Pen support with the updated Snapdragon Elite chip? I’ve seen in the reddit thread they like the one-handed use of the outer display on the Fold 6… they not feeling this new model.
I believe that’s why it wasn’t a worldwide release because some folks don’t care for the outer display being that wide.

I’m kind of torn. Because on one end… those that criticize the Galaxy Fold has a little truth to it, the device is abnormally narrow. But on the flip side of it… as you mention, the device can unfold to a much larger real estate. But take it from their perspective… they view the book-style foldable experience as a 2-1 (phone & tablet),Too many repeated comments of influencers who are seldom real users of Folds and of course for several years they only had slab format to compare with
Look how difficult one handed use is now on the max versions of slabs and they are trying to force this on Folds that have unrivalled real estate when unfolded already
I don't disagree there there is a little truth in it but the norm in most cases is a bias from themI’m kind of torn. But if the phone part of it seems compromised in any way... then the entire experience ruined. And nowadays, the majority favor big-sized phones (Apple discontinued the iPhone Mini after two years). I actually prefer the Pixel 9 Pro Fold hardware to the Galaxy Fold 6… primarily for the aspect ratio. But I bought the Galaxy Fold because I value the software experience more.
You are not wrong. But we are on the topic of this Fold SE and why this was a strange release by Samsung.I don't disagree there there is a little truth in it but the norm in most cases is a bias from them
If we look at short comings of many phones like Iphone that lagged in many updates compared to others like refresh rates or 5x zoom OLED etc these were not considered to the same level of criticism IMO
There seems an imbalance on criticism on Android phones because there is competition that does not exist with a single source of IOS IMO
I am not sure it's really admitting fault but more if you spend another $200 you can have thisYou are not wrong. But we are on the topic of this Fold SE and why this was a strange release by Samsung.
Whether we like it or not… it seems Samsung is admitting fault here with the Fold SE, this should have been the Fold 6 all along (with S-Pen support obviously)… given the recent post from them regarding they didn’t meet the revenue mark aiming to do better going forward. I believe this is their response.
It feels bittersweet though, because we should have had this for the Fold 6… but at least we know what to expect with the Fold 7.
