Typing this on a vivo x fold 3 pro. It's really nice hardware wise but Android is still a buffy inconsistent POS. Can't wait for the iPhone foldable.

Seeing lots of fold comments.
Does anybody have a SS flip 6 or had one? Looking for experiences , good and bad. Messed with one the other day and I really like it. But that was only 5 to 10 minutes. They just have my Interest.

Haven’t owned a Flip. But if I was in the market to buy a flip phone… I’d look toward the Razr or the Xiaomi MIX Flip, I think both did more with the cover display.

Before actually getting to hold a flip phone, I understood most of the appeal to be the smaller, more pocketable form factor when shut and ease of checking notifications or doing quick actions from the smaller cover screen. However, after putting hands on both the Razr and Flip Z6, I don't understand the appeal of the flip phone, at least as they currently exist. They're both really thick when folded, approximately 15 mm (for context iPhone 16 is 7.8 mm, Pixel 9 is 8.5 mm and even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is only 10.5 mm when folded closed).

The thicker closed flip phone didn't feel any better in the pocket..in fact, I liked it less due to its thickness. And considering it doesn't save any effort in having to pull the phone out of your pocket, I'd rather have a full size screen to immediately interact with. Also, as a smart watch user, the smaller screen offers no significant functional advantage over my watch display. And my watch is already out and ready to use.

Once they become significantly thinner, I could understand the appeal a bit more but the 'fold' type devices are much more useful, IMO.

I think it has a fashion charm to it appealing more to females or younger folks… but the perks to it is taking selfies/vlogging or group photos, which I think is the main draw.

But I do agree with your thoughts… that’s why I never had any interest in a flip phone.

Matter of opinions I guess. Everyone is different.

It is a bit thick but I've had older flips that are much thicker than these and they never bothered me, though again they are not as wide.
I actually have zero interest in a Fold and it's thick too, just not quite as much and I don't wear a watch so I don't have one of those.

I expect a flip to have thickness and in a era where thinner was always better, I'm a little surprised the Fold has such appeal. Not only is it thicker, it's almost like having 2 phones in your pocket with their full length. At least for me, the flip is smaller when shut though a little thicker.

We'll see. Playing with it it's seems real interesting but you can't put them in your pocket at the store it is displayed and I've never bought one and returned it after 14 days. Just not my thing. I pick, buy, keep lol....unless it has a problem.

I loved the flip experience as it didn't feel thick at all especially the last two versions. I highly recommend trying it

What short memories we seem to have LOL

Of course none of us have folded our dollar bills in half or used a folding wallet as that's far to thick, or folded our cheque books in half or rolled a pamphlet or newspaper and stuffed in our back pockets

Have we forgotten how much fun the flip era was with our Motorola Razer's and all the different formats and innovation of that time :D

The fashion industry has dictated for over 60 years the trend in folding personal accessories etc

Had technology and pricing permitted I think the large pamphlet phones would be the niche devices and foldables the main stream, but people have just become accustomed to having a large slab, regardless of thickness

Will be interesting to see how many peoples perception changes on foldables if Apple ever bring one out :)

Exactly! I loved my Nokia 6131 flip. It had a small button on the top right that was a perfect spot to use my thumb that kind of snapped it open and a small flick of the wrist and it's ready lol.Had a clock on the front of it when it was closed.

If I were to get a flip, looks like the Motorola might be the better one this time around but idk ... Just intrigued right now. Depends on his much I can get one for.

I would get one but if in limited markets I expect it will be difficult to trade up or in at a later date
you certainly won't be able to trade in.

only place you will be able to buy this would be wonda mobile, average dad tech store and few others.

I'm cool with waiting no rush here
Same. I gotta take a break. Thankful that Apple sold pretty much the same phone this year and I developed no interest there. It does suck China gets all these crazy foldables though. The OnePlus Open and Pixel 9 Pro Fold were exciting devices to me this year but they have been getting similar devices over there for a couple years with better cameras.

Yeah definitely need more choices here but I'm okay with it haha I don't update iPhones yearly so I'm good and one foldable with one slab is perfect for my Android side.

I'm very happy with the Galaxy Fold 6, but it does give "rage" that they release a "better" one for only two markets. Although I use the Spen a lot, so if it doesn't have compatibility with the Spen, I would take off quite a hype.
