I can't wait to switch to a triple foldable. Man, the Huawei Mate X3 looks incredible, and it's super thin too. This is definitely a phone you can easily use as a tablet. This is going to be the next big thing in the foldable market.
That second video… going in depth with the amount of ways you can interact with it has official sold me.

If Samsung brings one out... I’d definitely be interested in one, Huawei really did an incredible job. I’ve always been intrigued by the folding inwards screens that Hauwei introduced with the Mate X2.

Agreed...that tablet size would be awesome. My one concern is that there is no cover display--it has to use part of the tablet screen as the front display when it's closed and I worry about durability of the softer inner display always unprotected.

Definitely would be concerned with durability

I finally got my Galaxy Fold 6 in my hands.

The first sensations have been very good, but I have to play a little more.

As for cases, I had thought about the case that brings integrated Spen, but I do not know if there are other transparent third-party alternatives that have a hole for the Spen and that is “pretty”. I've been looking on Amazon and haven't seen any that convince me. Any suggestions?

At $2800 for base model I would rather it be a Win11 arm device 🙂 from Samsung

I don’t use it daily but the Samsung official case is solid with no wobble once fitted on the front part plus a nice feel in hand. I do like thinner cases and pretty much will go no case soon haha

I am a bit dubious on the amount of preorders this device supposedly has. The way it is brought up and discussed feels more like a propaganda item than it does a true and factual marketing statement for a solvent standard company. On a couple videos I have seen (Even before they talk about features) they bring this up. There are really that many people willing to spend (near as makes no difference) $2500 on a device. 4 Million people, really?

Outside of that, the OS is a non starter for more reasons than just concerns about security and who owns it. Many of the big player apps I rely on will likely never be supported on it (officially) and there is a 0% chance my employer would ever let me operate such a device.

Be curious to see how durable the device is, and how well it does on 3rd party reviews by companies that are not under some type of embargo.

I remember seeing the first folding prototypes and then the one that folded the other way around with the screen on the outside. Now this Huawei does both directions in a trifold design. And it’s for sale. Seriously crazy. The Westworld phone, no longer science fiction.

OLED substrate by design is flexible full stop. Even Apple uses a flexible substrate in their OLED devices, all the way back to the X.

It can effectively be bent either direction, but the issue (and one that has impacted users) is longevity of the substrate and how many times it can bend before stretching, or breaking.

There really is no denying at this point that Samsung has clung to a bad idea for far too long. The entire rest of the industry has proved that there are ways to make a device that is just as usable as a regular phone when folded.

I am really hoping that next year will be a complete rethinking of the fold design. For now I will be waiting for some decent promos on the Pixel fold to pop up, and I am taking my business elsewhere

I'm really enjoying my ZF6 but I just stop sometimes and wonder how much better Samsung can do with this phone and with keeping it's awesome software options.

In a vacuum the ZF6 is a fine phone.

However pretty much every other book style foldable on the market has outclassed it in usability closed, thinness, and camera quality.

It is outmoded.

Can you please elaborate?

Not looking to fight / debate, but seriously would like to see your viewpoint.

Cheers!

Yet there are many things it's not outclassed on like eco, collaboration, water resistance, dust resistance, spen, support, and even refresh rates on some, to name just the obvious ones :)

I love this two devices. I wish apple would dare to make these two devices.

An iPhone fold with iOS and iPadOS would be crazy, and the same with an “MacPad” with iPadOS and macOS, but there isn’t “courage”.

Ditto! The iPad is my favorite Apple device.. but the Fold is just so fun to use.

I know some people tend to ditch a tablet when they pick up a book style foldable device... But I can’t see myself parting ways with the iPad, it’s just too good of a device. I like the latest Magic Keyboard paired with it (wasn’t fond of Apple forcing us to buy new accessories).

And I like the combination of Fold and iPad, best of both worlds... All that comes with Galaxy experience (S-Pen, multitasking, DeX and Good Lock) while there’s no better tablet than an iPad.

Yeah the Z Fold still has some areas it shines over the others. Ecosystem for sure is fantastic. S pen and their software on a foldable really makes the experience top of the line. Having the ZF6, OP Open, and now P9 Pro Fold I can say Samsung's software easily outclasses the others, especially when considering multitasking abilities. There is something I can take from all of them on the software side that they excel at but Samsung is just the complete package there. That said, I can do everything I need to do 99% of the time on the other two and I just prefer the build better. Due to the Pixel features I value I'll probably lean towards keeping it and selling my ZF6 and Open. But to me the ZF6 is still an amazing device and the constant criticism of it is mostly unwarranted.
