Grumpy in my old age

It hasn't changed since 1984 so you must be really really exhausted.

With me, it actually started before 1984.... I think I owned one each of the Apple II line. II, IIe, IIc, IIGS.

I guess part of it is I'm getting very grumpy in my old age. It's actually kind of fun.

Yes, on the good news front, have 680 4GB running perfectly, just got 5.0 working.

Next to enable 5.0 on the 670 4GB.

Still working on Titan.....

How long do you think getting the titan to work perfectly is going to take?

I ordered a 7950 and the 680 Mac versions...they both arrive today. I'm unsure which one to keep and which one to send back.

I might pop them both open and benchmark against each other. Not quite sure.

Any input from the gallery? Oh, and I'm happy to provide ROM images.

depends on what you're using the card for. If you use applications that benefit from CUDA then the 680, if you use OpenCL or compute applications that can use the GPU, then 7950. For gaming in Windows the 680.

680 is really good for games, but compared to the 500 series from Nvidia the compute performance went down.
7950 is really fast with compute\openCL.

I'm holding out on my opinion until you post the 680 ROM dump... :D

guys who bought the 680 Mac Edition from EVGA, can you tell us if it comes with new drivers on a CD, or it just relies on 10.8.3 built-in drivers ?

If you use X-Plane 10, then the 3 GB VRAM of the 7950 could be important... (if you've installed highly detailed scenery)

No driver disc. VGA/DVI adaptor, the power connectors, and a Display Port to Mini Display Port adaptor (so yes, your ACD will work just fine on this card).

The manual is pretty emphatic that you must upgrade your OS to 10.8.3 prior to installation.

I just got off a plane and am very tired. Installed and did the dump. Works in OS X and Boot Camp (with boot screens) with no issues. I'll run some benchmarks tomorrow.

[Edit] Okay, I relented with one benchmark before bed. :)

There is no tool in OSX.

If your 680 has a 256K EEPROM and is 2GB Reference card, this rom may give you what you are looking for.

It is also possible that it will create trouble, especially for non-standard cards. It will not work properly on a 4GB card.

A little early X-Mas present from EVGA.

check barefeats.com

the results he posted for GTX690 actually correspond to a GTX670 rather well due to fact that most things only see 1 @ 670 core

It will soon be possible to upgrade to an EFI GTX670 2 or 4 GB with boot screens.

Still have to figure out PCIE 2.0 but working on it.

What he said. :)

Used NVFLASH to pull the data from the card. Unless you're willing to edit the ROM yourself, putting it on anything than a reference 680 w/ 2 GB of VRAM is asking for trouble.

See, that's why I just went out and bought the damn card rather than having to deal with flashing myself. :)

When can we expect to see a 680 4GB in your shop? Really looking forward to purchasing one from you.

I have the http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2682-KR and think that is the same card which they have now turned Mac compatible with the ROM.

If it not, then it must be the vanilla EVGA GTX680, and the SC version is the same, just with a little overclocking, still using only 2x6-pin power.

We now have PCIE 2.0 figured out for most of Kepler range, will hopefully have GTX680 4GB available within a week, two at most.

We even have GTX650 running 3 displays at PCIE 2.0, though some cosmetic issues still to iron out.

These cards have far more complex roms that have required quite a bit of work, I have spent more than a week to find the "5.0 switch". I am sick to death of starring at hex code but when you fire up the machine and see the thing you have been chasing finally come together, well, a good moment.

We will have a really fun range of Nvidia cards quite soon. Boot screens, PCIE 2.0 (maybe even 3.0 in 6,1 !!) and multiple display support. Exciting times.

Hello,

What me suprices is that the speed (FPS) lower is than a stock EVGA GTX 670 2GB. That one runs 556,04 FPS in a Xeon Hex 3,33 Ghz placed in a MacPro Nehalem 2009
(not my machine, I am on a 12 core 2.66 Ghz with a 5870, 278 FPS)

Update...

Received the GTX 680 Mac Edition.

Took about 2 minutes to take out the old card and put in the new new card.

Turned on the Mac, and it booted right up. No problems.

It took a little longer to get in to terminal and add the "GeForce GTX 680" into the locked cuda_supported_cards file. But, I figured it out and got Premire pro and after effects to see the new card.

Very Happy:D

Do you have a youtube channel, can you do a video on the card and is booting into windows is the same using bootcamp

I don't boot into windows from my MAC Pro. I have PCs that I built for windows.

I could do a video. However, what would I show?

I did a tutorial on unlocking nvidia cards to work with premiere pro but that was for PCs. ( I think I have about 40,000 views on that on you tube).

I could maybe do one for Macs.

Also, I just learned that Adobe CS7 will be coming out in a few weeks. It is being reported that CS7 will use all newer Nvidia cards automatically. So, there will be no need to unlock them since they won't be locked.
