Hey there guys. I was a lead web designer at Apple Ireland, Cork.
I got fired recently, so I decided to post some infos on the newest iMacs.
I was working on the graphics for the new http://www.apple.com/ie/imac/ webpage and decided to share some of my finds.

First of all:
The new iMac's slogan is: "The new iMac. The fastest all-in-one. It just got faster".

The new iMacs are indeed equipped with Sandy Bridge chips.

The 21.5" model will be discontinued. It will be replaced by a larger 24" model.

The iMac prices will start from €1,199.00

A 30" iMac will be introduced, equipped with a Intel Xeon processor. I've no idea if it's Sandy Bridge or not.

Here's the list of upgrades available for the new iMac.

iMac (Mid-2011)
24-inch: 3.1GHz

Processor:
3.1GHz Intel Core i3

Memory:
4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM [ + 200.00]

27-inch: 3.3GHz

Processor:
3.3GHz Intel Core i3
2.8GHz Intel Core i5

Memory:
4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM [ + 200.00]

Hard Drive:
1TB Serial ATA Drive
2TB Serial ATA Drive [ + 135.00]

27-inch: 3.3GHz

Processor:
3.3GHz Intel Core i5
3.4GHz Intel Core i7 [ + 290.00]

Memory:
4GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM [ + 200.00]

Hard Drive:
1TB Serial ATA Drive
2TB Serial ATA Drive [ + 135.00]

Graphics Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB [ + 100.00]

30-inch: 3.5GHz

Processor:
3.5GHz Intel Xeon

Memory:
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM [ + 300.00]

Hard Drive:
1TB Serial ATA Drive
2TB Serial ATA Drive [ + 135.00]

Graphics Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB [ + 350.00]

That's all I have. I've no idea what the consequences are going to be yet but I wanted to share this info with people.

I will post some info about the new MacBook in a second.

27"
Graphics Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5750 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB [ + 100.00]

That is disappointing.

30"
Graphics Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB [ + 350.00]

That is interesting!

Very interesting indeed! If those are true, Apple has really surprised us.

Well, this is certainly interesting. I guess one could guess that naturally these would be the specs for the 2011 iMac, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hate to bea pessimist, but I worry that a 30" Xeon iMac means no more Mac Pro.

When me and my team were working on the website, We weren't told to remove the Mac Pro section.

Wow, just joined today, I'll believe everything he says!

Apple employees are not allowed to sign up to any Apple fan sites. Nor they are allowed to comment on rumors.

In my home it's a battle to get a gaming PC through the door. Nothing financial, just purely from a design POV. So I work my arse off, and then the wife can buy posh furniture, but I can't fill the place with toys... :)

ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB plus 30" iMac might just be my ticket to ride. :D

Hate to be a cynic but the spec's don't really add up in my mind, so I would count me in the camp that says this post is BS.

Also, Brien, an all-in-one 30" iMac wouldn't cut it in the Pro user World compared to a user serviceable Mac Pro.

Could you please elaborate on this?

Apart from screen size (an update which I honestly don't care at all) the "updated" base model is basically the same as the present base 21.5"

However, I doubt what the OP has written is true and I doubt he is an ex-apple employee at all. A company like Apple certainly has some clauses for their ex-employess not to share confidential information.

So, they fired you and your revenge was to post their internal information on here?

Personally, I highly doubt the i3 will stay in the iMac line-up any more. The lowest-end processor in the MBP is a dual-core i5 and I expect the same thing will happen the the iMacs

The new slogan sounds a bit off. "The new iMacs. The fastest all-in-ones just got faster." flows a bit better.

We'll know in a few weeks.

They do but I have been unfairly dismissed. My case is at the labour court at the moment.

In that case you are pretty unwise to be putting this on an internet forum…
I mean, how many employees did they dismiss at your graphics department? Hundreds?

Surely they can trace this back to you and when it gets to court, as you claim, used against you.

That is of course if the OP of yours is legit. ;)

Surely I really wanna believe this, however I can't grasp that Apple wouldn't update the GFX card in a iMac refresh. There are plenty of better 6000 cards than the 5750/5770 which wouldn't even be more expensive to put in the new iMacs.

I rule fake, but its just my opinion - if this is true, thanks for sharing.

good luck getting another job if this leak is indeed true and they trace it back to you.

Shouldn't be too difficult for them, how many lead web designers could they have fired from Cork in one week? =P

But yeah, I hope this is true. I've been eyeing up the iMacs to purchase if I get the promotion I'm after. I'd love to get a 30" on my wall [=

Well hey, posting on this forum should really help your case:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Also, I don't care to elaborate on why I think your posting is suspect, suffice to say I've been on these boards long enough to have my suspicions of a first time poster who is trying to get a rise in eager Apple iMac purchasers desperate for any small piece of info - however inaccurate or based on pure fantasy it is.

They have saved the i3 for the 13inch MacBook.
I don't mind your doubt. I wouldn't probably believe in something like this myself.

The only difference between the 21.5 and 24inch is a different screen size, thunderbolt port, lower price. It has the cheapest i3 processor, same amount of RAM and a basic graphics chip.

Gizmodo fiasco all over again.

Knock knock... police... open up

As others mentioned, this probably wasn't a smart move and think your attorney would concur.

EDIT: While we're at it, what's the word on the street per '11 MBA?
