So tell me...I'm a web designer...what software does apple use in various aspects of updating and design? And if it is proprietary...what it is based on?

I'm not admitting I believe you...I just want to hear this answer, and if I see this play out and you ARE being truthful, I will believe you then.

Well, I was basically on a contract and have been underpaid. I've talked to my manager about this but they assured me all the money was being paid on time. I've checked my contract and the sum of the money was incorrect. I've then contacted the NERA (National Employment Rights Authority) and boom. Got fired. Very bad step for them. I don't really care about the money. I've got everything I need. I own a house, I drive a BMW, I have around 44k on my bank account which should be enough for the next year...

Waiting to see some answers like "omg ur such a ********zer"

I assure you, I won't get sued. This is free promotion for them. I might be able not to receive the money owed but I will definitely get away with it

Any insight on the 2011 MBA?

thanks for sharing

...so when can we expect the new iMacs (mid 2011 is kind of now :) )

Hm they'd all have to be sandybridge xeons of that line of chips if they all support 1600mhz ram. Could possibly make sense, but that'd be the only way wouldn't it?

I currently have a i5 2500k with 1600MHz running just fine......

Late April

yeah, that's the rumor - late april/early may - but it's just a rumor, I was hoping for something more concrete

Interesting info since I'm in a holding pattern waiting on the new iMac release.
I planned on a new 27 inch but if 30 turns out true it may change my plans

If the specs were realistic I may indulge myself in some excitement for the new specs.

Given how unrealistic they are, we'll need more proof. Dropping the 20" in favor of a 30, using Xeon processors, using 1600MHz ram, etc. Granted the 1600 is possible, but I can't see them going above and beyond when they have a history of being very conservative (eg using 1333, in this case). Adding the 30" screen and a Xeon to a consumer class product is a bit out there as well. Doing so would certainly take a huge cut into Mac Pro sales, which are already poor.

Surely if you have these specs in a text doc somewhere, you have other files that would support the claims.

This bragging sounds very much like a thread that ran one night a few weeks ago, before mods finally deleted it. In it, the OP (using a newbie MR account) bragged about all the stuff he owned at age 14, including claiming his dad owned a Porsche and a New York penthouse. He was finally busted when the pic he posted of "him by the Porsche" turned out to be some other kid he met on Facebook, Photoshopped onto a pic of a Porsche in a parking garage in Atlanta. When he was busted, he said he did it just to get back at the kid whose pic he used, and said he had another MR account... he got off on how many posted to his completely bogus thread.

I'd say this thread is complete BS, from beginning to end. I don't believe a single thing the OP has posted.

You're so quick to judge GG.

I'm not saying I believe everything the OP posted, but much of it seems probable. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how quickly you befriend him if any of it comes to light.

30-inch: 3.5GHz

Processor:
3.5GHz Intel Xeon

Memory:
8GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
16GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM [ + 300.00]

Hard Drive:
1TB Serial ATA Drive
2TB Serial ATA Drive [ + 135.00]

Graphics Card:
ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB
ATI Radeon HD 6970 2GB [ + 350.00]

Can you say three thousand dollar base price?

The 5750 is disappointing simply because it is a wash when compared to even the 4850... The 5770 is slightly better.

Which means, if true, the 30 is the only real upgrade from even later 2009 i5 27 inch iMacs, the others would only truly be a processor/chipset bump

Hay dude what's the craic?.

I'll run with a mythbusters plausible with this one. Only because it's so close to april fool's and we all know the Irish love a party and a joke.

If a 30" iMac @ 1600 lines or greater is to evolve then I for one will be cashing in my savings and heading straight to Apple regents street with money in hand. I hope apple also launch a 30" acd to accompany it.

30" iMac...... sheer delight. 2x30"acd+digital projector..... bliss

This is assuming Apple don't screw it all up by using cheap broken as standard parts. I kind of think somedays that another Apple fiasco on launch day compounded with Mr Jobs leaving and the situation within Japan and the associated shortages could well finish Apple.

Wow, if these specs are true, very interesting! I have to say my 27" iMac is a little to big, I can't imagine a 30". The 24" is probably the perfect size - I wonder what the resolution of the screens will be for the 24" and 27".

Nah not really. Mobility 5850 was a nice upgrade over mobility 4850. Sandybridge will of course be a very nice upgrade over nehalem on the cpu front.

I have been using hwcompare dot com to compare video cards, so where I am coming from is that its not significant across the board with most games.

The biggest upgrade was 1GB of VRAM and GDDR5. If 4850M had had 1GB of GDDR5, then the difference would have been a lot smaller. The benchmarks you saw can easily be about the 4850M with GDDR5.

Well to be completely fair, direct replacements are usually never going to be significant upgrades to their predecessors, but the mobility 5850's 15-20% gain in performance over mobility 4850 is a decent chunk of an upgrade. If it was something like going from mobility 4670 to mobility 5850, you'd see a signifiant upgrade, because 600 and 800 series cards are marketed to different target markets.

hwcompare.com doesn't even compare mobility cards, only desktop.

This problem was already often discussed here. The 5850M exists in two variants, one with the faster GDDR5 and one with the slower GDDR3. All the sites which data-mine benchmarks will "mix" both the variants, thus showing the 5850M benchmarks slower than they really are.

Anyway, I don't see how you could compare the cards using that site, they only seem to have desktop GPUs, while iMac uses mobile GPUs.

Oh crap, forgot about the base prices for the machines!
I only have them in Euro!

24-inch with 3.1GHz i3
€1,199.00

27-inch with 3.3GHz i3
€1,629.00

Quad 27-inch with 3.3GHz i5
€1,999.00

30-inch with Xeon
€2,699.00

I've no idea what it's going to be in EUR.

This is a glimpse of the webpage of the Store.

Why does he say

"27-inch: 3.3GHz

Processor:
3.3GHz Intel Core i3
2.8GHz Intel Core i5
"

I don't understand, will the base(cheapest 27 model) 27 inch model come with i3 sandybridge or i5 sandybridge?

According to my clock it's 30 minutes to go...... 30 minutes to april fools that is.... haha...

Seriously though...... I want a 30" iMac........
