Already waiting for tomorrows message from the thread starter: April Fools' Day :D

btw: First msg on this board, so hi everyone ;)

Care to share? Might give us a better view on Apple from the inside. Gotta stay critical.

Well, I was basically on a contract and have been underpaid. I've talked to my manager about this but they assured me all the money was being paid on time. I've checked my contract and the sum of the money was incorrect. I've then contacted the NERA (National Employment Rights Authority) and boom. Got fired. Very bad step for them. I don't really care about the money. I've got everything I need. I own a house, I drive a BMW, I have around 44k on my bank account which should be enough for the next year...

Waiting to see some answers like "omg ur such a ********zer"

I assure you, I won't get sued. This is free promotion for them. I might be able not to receive the money owed but I will definitely get away with it

Okay so I didn't really understand from your original post but what I want to know about is on the ENTRY 27 inch model, meaning the cheapest 27 inch model, what processor does it have i5 sandy bridge? How about the graphic card? It will come with 4gb DDR3 and 1tb harddrive?

I repeat, I'm talkin about the cheapest 27 inch model without any built to order settings. And what's the price of the entry level 27 inch?

I really don't care about the 24 or 30 inch models.

BS or not BS, what about SSD options and pricing? And will you be able to CTO an SSD in the 24"?

It's interesting how he lists the ram speed for all the sandybridge iMacs as 1600mhz, even though only server grade sandybridge chips officially take 1600mhz, while the rest are at 1333mhz. ;)

24", why not.
But 30" and keeping 27"?? Seems odd. Apple had 30" cinema displays and reduced them to 27" (24" before), so why would they scale the new iMac back to 30" again??

And what are the consequences for the resolution? The current 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 resolutions are perfect for videos etc (1440/2 -> 720p and 1080 -> 1080p). So the 30" screen would also have 2560x1440 with higher pixel pitch or would have some crazy resolution, which the gpu even can't support.

Therefore: I believe this is fake. + how would they cool a Xeon in an iMac which is faster then the i7-2600??

Yes, and shouldn't the 24" be a 23" for proper 16x9?

Either the guy really knows something or he is really good at making things up. This actually sounds plausible, even though the form factor changes sound rather radical.

Xeon E3-1280. 3.5GHz quad core with TDP of 95W.

Hm they'd all have to be sandybridge xeons of that line of chips if they all support 1600mhz ram. Could possibly make sense, but that'd be the only way wouldn't it?

Intel's new P67 motherboards allow its LGA1155 Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 CPUs to clock the memory to speeds up to and including 2,133MHz without the need to overclock. This is despite the fact that the CPU's dual-channel DDR3 memory controller is only rated up to 1,333MHz.

Seems to be possible with normal chips.

It'd be interesting to see if the 30 inch iMac with xeon sandybridge and 6970 2gb come true then! It might be possible to shove a desktop grade gpu in that form factor, though I doubt it'd be 6970.

I'm pretty sure that's where we're headed eventually....30" with all desktop class components and thunderbolt equipped. It will be a serious nail in the coffin for the Mac Pro I would think.

It's too close to april fools day for me to believe this .. or any new rumor for that matter :)

If you really was a lead web designer at Apple Ireland, Cork, could you please tell us why Apple needs such a ridiculous amount of down time to update the web site every time a new product is released? ;)

You should probably be asking her that. :D
