Did you have any tension headaches with the 15 Pro? I’ve experienced non besides just head tension and troubling focusing
I didn’t try pros yet. Pro max is the only left to try (don’t care about 15 pro). I only tried 15 and 15 plus….. 15 was better but not symptoms free.

When I tried the 14 Plus last year I got traditional eye-strain and frontal headaches, the Pro Series seem to cause just head/neck pain - both PWM symptoms but each respective device caused their own unique forms of suffering

It is my last day to test my iPhone 15 pro and I am still unsure…

I was able to use the 12 pro without any problems… but couldn’t use the 14pro because I got a slight headache and eye fatigue… (the yes was the worst though)

But I am just a tiny bit unsure about keeping the 15 pro… I don’t “think” I feel anything… but I am just a bit scared I didn’t use the iPhone long enough while reading to fully judge it.
2 weeks is just so little time and when I am being honest I didn’t really have time to fully commit to testing it out.

I kind of wished I had gotten it later to make use of the Christmas return policy, but it was to late when I though about that…

I just hate that I am having doubts. It’s such a great device and so much fun to use but also pretty expensive…

If you feel like this now i am very happy for you because it means you have no or little issues with the phone. For me and other sensitive people its clear in 5 or 10 min if the device is usable without issues or not.

Think about the millions of people using the iPhone without any issue, i think you are on of them! Enjoy your phone and don't start thinking of the possibility of getting eyestrain. It will be fine for you!

I guess you are right!
I felt pretty similar with the 12pro… (“just to good to be true” kind of thing…)
And even if there is “something” after looking on the screens for an extended period of time it merely says that I shouldn’t do it. Which is something one should try to avoid anyways.

With the Xs I noticed pretty quickly something was off and after a couple of days I couldn’t even use it for a minute till I felt symptoms…

So yes!
The 12pro worked perfectly for me and I think/hope the 15pro will work just as well! So I should be good for some time…

I am crossing my fingers that the next phone will work for more/everyone…

For those of you who are using the 3rd gen SE, have you found a difference with respect to eye strain with iOS 16 vs 17?
I'm scared to try updating mine. I can use mine indefinitely with no issues on 16.1.1. It seems to be the only "new" Apple product I'm able to use.

I have had the iPhone 13, 15 and 15 Pro for 1 week now. Here are my findings.

Settings: auto brightness off, wpc off, nigh shift on all day and night, brightness manually adjust to my liking between 75% - 100% depending on the environment. promotion off on iPhone 15 pro.

I browsed reddit daily for hours and face time calls lasting over 2 hours daily so they were all used well daily.

iPhone 13 caused nausea over the course of 2 days
iPhone 15 caused burning eyes over the course of 2 days
iPhone 15 Pro caused nausea on day 1 and then completely fine on 2 and onward.

So my suggestion is the iPhone 15 Pro and see if symptoms subside in the next day or two.

Do you have issues with other modern screens as well? Just curious because I can't use Apple OLED screens (when the iPhone X came out I became very sick when setting it up - haven't tried the 15 Pro yet because I've just stopped trying at this point). But I also have issues now with many "modern" screens. Old screens are completely fine. Your post does make me want to try the 15 Pro though.

If Kylie complained on Twitter, Apple would release a DC dimming update promptly
We’ve had this conversation here before: if someone like iJustine made a video stating “I love the new iPhone, but it gives me 24/7 headaches” then we’d probably get a more concrete solution. It even seems like Apple has some control over the brightness controller via software updates, which is a capability that speculatively may have been added beginning with iPhone 11 Pro.

There are thousands of people online that are vocal about having debilitating PWM headaches from these new iPhones. Out of a sample size of a hundred million devices, this is admittedly insignificant. If a hundred million-plus people can use these devices like they would an LCD iPhone then there isn’t a major problem here, even if it may be one for us to have such a profound effect.

Now, I do think this is much more widespread but it’s not common knowledge. Research that ~ 10% of users get headaches is probably accurate, even if there hasn’t been a study done on smartphone OLED’s to my knowledge. These headaches may just occur at night, or it may not bother them enough switch to a different smartphone. A majority of users may be getting more headaches than they would with an equivalent PWM-free display—there’s simply not enough data to make that correlation.

Has anyone switched from the 15 Pro/Max to either the 15/Plus with any success?

I have the 3rd gen SE. I did NOT update. At 16.7 and holding. It works well for me and my eyes.
Too scared to change anything.

I was very lucky that when I experienced pain on my IPhone 11 at IOS17, I could still roll back. I was daft enough to not link the pain to the software for 10 days thinking I was safe with the LCD.

My watch which had gone to IOS10 was then unable to pair with the phone. Luckily Apple customer service have agreed to roll back the watch and it’s currently with UPS for them to do it.

It’s really not worth upgrading if in any doubt. Stick to what you have and disable auto updates.

But how is that possible with an iPhone 11? What did they change which causes this? Do have more people problems with the new 17.x update?

Thats the same question I want to know the answer to.

There is talk about the temporal dithering but I had the pain for 10 days, rolled it back and its subsided again.

I am not risking any more upgrades. Will be on IOS16 for good now.

This thread depresses me. It’s a reminder that Apple truly does not care about us.

Nearly 6 years since iPhone X was released, and there is zero hope that any OLED iPhone will be free of PWM. There is so much evidence in this thread that proves Apple is aware of these issues and they are trying bandaid “solutions” but it’s all garbage.

I feel bad for anyone who experiences negative side effects from these phones and continues to try to make them work. Do what is best for yourself — using these phones is absolutely not worth it.

I pulled out my old white iPhone 7+ tonight and reading this comment from the best iPhone display Apple has ever made is depressing indeed.

I have no issues with iPhone 11 or iPad Pro 12.9" or apple watch. I havent tried any other OLED screens

My wife's iPhone 15 Plus arrived yesterday.
After 5 minutes I felt nauseous and my eyes hurt.
No comparison to my iPhone 15 Pro Max, which is definitely better.
How do you come to the conclusion that the normal 15s are supposed to be better?
I'm still so grateful that I can use the iPhone 15 Pro Max without any problems.

This is part of the never ending tedium with PWM symptoms - everyone's different. From what I understand so far is the 15/Plus have lower modulation in theory being less stressful to eyes, but obviously that's not true across the board.

iPhone 15PM and IPhone 15 Plus have the same IOS version?

@DJTaurus How is your experience with the 15 Plus going?
Worse than iPhone 15. Symptoms from the first half an hour. At least with normal 15 symptoms started the next day. I have already send it back from day one. Now i am waiting a pro max and testing is over for me :)
