Everything in that video is flickering including the background image.
And you know why, don’t you? The Apple Store illumination is LED and with the frequency recording set on that app, and such sensitivity (ISO), that flickering is also noticeable.

But if you don’t find it useful you can freely ignore it. I’ve been testing PMW with that app for several years, and this year the flicker is different, with smaller black bars and faster flicker.

I see so much different results from everybody. And difference experience. Did you check the iPhone 16 plus out. Or the pro? I don’t know which phone is worth to try. I’m guessing the regular 16. I will try the pro of my wife myself tomorrow. I will share my experience

Honestly, with the Pro being now even bigger (I held the Pro Max and it felt like a little tablet), I’m definitely just interested in the regular iPhone 16, the least big one. That’s why I recorded it.

Yes the PM is definitely too big. But I think the 6.3 inch is the sweet spot.

Anyone Chinese in here?

While I don’t understand what’s being said, I did remember that SVM under 0.4 is supposed to be eye safe. While 1 or higher starts getting questionable. So it looks like 16 Pro at max brightness is well within the range. Lowest brightness is not good, but I’d guess somewhere around 50% should still be good.

Picked up a new 16PM! It’s wayyyyy better! Could tell the difference when powering on. Less blooming around the numbers and brightness intensity is crazy different. Will see tomorrow after my eyes get a good nights rest and we will see how I feel.. still feel queasy from using the other phone all day.

Hey all, I picked up a 16 yesterday(doing great with it so far, my Opple also approves) and I have an unused iPhone 15 LCD screen that I'm willing to ship out to anyone who wants it. DM me :)
Can you share your Opple results? And could you use any other oled phone before?

If 16's reception is not good i am gonna test again an LCD incell on an iphone 14. JK and RJ incell were not good. I read a user that had success with a THL brand. Another thing i noticed these days i am testing 14 with no success again is the overglow of OLED screens....doesn't bother you too?

I watched YouTube videos on the 16 pro for 30 min. Brightness level above 75%. No headaches or eyestrain. But my eyes do feel little bit dry. With XS, 12, 14p and 15p I got immediately symptoms. The 15pm I could also use for a long time before my eyes were burning the other day. So I will keep playing with the 16p to see if I get the same results as the 15pm. And I’m still curious about the regular 16.

Thinking about upgrading from my iPhone 12 to the 16. I don't have any issues with the 12 screen, but the 13 Pro and 14 Pro felt uncomfortable to my eyes.

You think it's safe to update?

I read a post at Reddit that says
that the Pro models have the same display as last year.
Are also in the red overshaft on high brightness. The iPhone 16 models,
probably have a new hybrid dimension that makes it better for our eyes and our health.

https://www.reddit.com/r/PWM_Sensitive/comments/1flkfl4
Suddenly everyone on Reddit has an Opple measurer and yet all report different measurements. This is muddying the waters. Especially making claims about a hybrid display - the 16 Plus immediately felt like it was going to nail me.

Also:
The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the first Apple smartphones to adopt Samsung's high performance "M14" OLED display panel, claims a new report coming out of South Korea.

I don’t understand it either. Last year the results were similar. Where is the Top G? He has always reliable tests.

Any update about your PM?

My lower eyelid area feels sensitive today - a slight sting. Also, I feel very tired. This is a concern as I've felt this before with the standard 13. I was able to use that for a week but the negative symptoms were building up until I was too uncomfortable to keep it.

Been trying the 16PM, the initial positivity at the fact it didn’t cause an immediate nauseous feeling, which previous ones have, has subsided as I realise using it for a short amount of time is really tiring. I hoped this would be the one, particularly as the initial impression was good, but I think I am just kidding myself, I’m aware I’m instinctively using my old iPhone 8 in preference to my new toy, as I don’t feel I need a nap after using it.

Sure thing, attached screenshots should be in order of 100% brightness, 75%, 50%, and 25%. Edit: Actually now that I'm looking at them I think 75 & 50 might have gotten mixed up 😑

I was able to use a 15 with only minor issues, along with several Samsungs in the past too. The Z flip 4 was fine for me, as was the note 10 and 20, note 4 and 5 as well. My issues with screens are a bit complicated, they seem to be a combination of general eyestrain, existing migraines, and my aging eyes lol. Variable refresh rates seem to trigger me more than anything else, so I can't use Pros anymore at all.

One really odd thing that happened is the issues I did have with my 15- dizziness, faint feeling- seemed to go away completely after I started Emgality. I don't think it's a placebo either since I wasn't expecting any improvement for screen sensitivity, I just kind of noticed one day that my phone didn't bother me at all anymore.

Wanted to provide more context, on 15 pro max couldn’t use dark mode for Twitter or 120hz feature but can on 16.. just getting this weird tingling feeling in my nose and odd smell every time I pick it up.

16PM update - day three:

Well, here I am once again. The back of my eyes feel pinched, the back of my neck aches under my skull and I have upper cranium tension - the start of a headache. So close once again but OLED is still not for me 🤦‍♂️. ANOTHER GOD DAMN YEAR!

Should I be surprised? Well, it was looking hopeful as my eyes did not complain until today. Not waking with a headache was a bonus. Apple and Samsung still have a lot of work to do or maybe I will never be able to use OLED on a mobile computer.....

IMG_1488.jpeg

So still stuck on my 11 running iOS 16.7.2 due to negative reports about iOS 17 & 18 from PWM and dithering sensitive users. One day an app will force me to upgrade, I'm certain.

Whether I try a 16Pro or wait for the SE2025 remains to be seen. I have little hope for the updated SE as the standard iPhones seem to have worse PWM for me.

Now comes the stressful wait and walk of shame back to my local Apple store to once again make a return. No doubt I will be kept waiting due to store demand for new phones. The fact I'm not banned yet after having this problem every year with OLED iPhones is a credit to Apple and the store manager. Then comes the lie: "can I ask why you are making a return today". There is zero point in mentioning eye strain and headaches because they never record it. They often just look at me like I'm a little mad or maybe they just don't believe me. So I go with "oh, the phone is just too big, I will order the smaller one". It's just easier. 😔
