Update: As some of you might have already expected it’s the same song and dance with the 15 pro and I will be returning as well..will stick it out with 13 pro may consider regular 16 but very disappointed.
Why not 16 Pro?

That iPhone has me the most intrigued this generation. But I returned 15 Pro within eight days, and boxed it up within a week, last year.

So my impressions with the THL incell on my iPhone 14: zero headaches and in general head irritations. But it gave me a little bit of eye dryness which leads into a small sense of blurry vision mostly felt indoors. Also THL incell was as thick as JK i used in the past….. similar heat increase, less power consumption but worse touch response and overall screen quality. Very very high brightness, unnatural whites, lots of blooming and a glow effect in general. Text resolution is fine.

I have a general feeling that whenever I use anything different from iPhone 11 my eyes cannot adjust to it which is very weird.

I did a small search on Chinese incells and the best one is EK pro followed by EBS and then EBR.

So i am not done with this experiment. I ordered from aliexpress an EK pro incell for my iPhone 14. This will be obviously my last incell surgery….. :p

In case anyone’s interested…

…I’m planning to install an iFixit LCD screen replacement in a new iPhone 13 mini I bought off eBay.

The kicker is I plan to do this using the official Apple Self Service Repair toolkit (yes, the big one that comes in the huge flight cases). It was an easy process to order from their website, despite the hefty card authorisation fee.

The phone is already here, expecting the other parts next week.
So a quick update:

- The Apple Self Service Repair Tools are amazing. As reported they do arrive in a massive case, but they are the absolutely business

- The whole display replacement process took a couple of hours. By far the worst part is removing the old adhesive. But take your time and it all comes off. Reminded me of peeling glue off tables in school.

- The ifixit display fits perfectly. No noticeable difference in size, weight or thickness.

- Unfortunately the panel that was shipped to me is broken, but a replacement is on its way out now.

Will send another update when the replacement (for the replacement) display arrives.

Why does it have you the most intrigued?
I like the form factor and the screen-to-body ratio. I’ve felt for a long time that 6.1” was too small and the slight bump to 6.3” makes it a super comfortable iPhone in terms of display and size, and I suppose I still have to add PWM notwithstanding.

I see in their website their latest iphone LCD product is for 14 line.
Those iFixit screens are made in house or imported from china?

I emailed iFixit about their LCDs and told me that they are not made in house. Also asked them about what quality they are offering:

We are unable to guarentee a specific quality on these. If you need anything else, please let us know.

The iPhone 16 Pro is actually better when it comes to modulation.
So you should actually tolerate the iPhone 16 Pro better, actually.

Strange right? Hmm, i will give it ONE more chance, when im due for upgrade next month. And use the reduce whitepoint option.

Do you have any link to where its stated it has better pulse modulation?

16 Pro seems to be quite a bit better than the 16 Pro Max as well:

Much more consistent with a lower amplitude, whereas iPhone 16 Pro Max looks nearly identical to all of the previous Max iPhones.

My personal observation this year was that the smaller iPhones seemed better than the larger. Awaiting measurements for iPhone 16: not that I expect that to make it usable. But I am growing increasingly intrigued by iPhone 16 Pro.

I don’t trust NBC. These iPhones have a 480 PWM frequency. Weird it shows only 240 here. The 15pm was the best iPhone I used. Too bad there isn’t a reliable scource to test them like previous years. Like the Top G and PWM men

I got the iPhone 16 Pro again today.
The first impression is that it is more comfortable than the iPhone 16.
I remembered it differently, but it actually feels much better.
I didn't have any eye strain today, even though I had a lot of screen on time.
I don't think that was the case with my first iPhone 16 Pro. Maybe it's the panel lottery?

Nice one man! Yeah maybe some 16 PRO CAN be used,it might be a lottery indeed. I did however try 2 different 16 Pro and the last one was a Samsung panel, dont know what the first one was.

As always black, and with 128GB memory.

I still tolerate the iPhone 16 Pro excellently and i am most confused.
The iPhone 16 was actually worse because it caused me problems from 30 minutes of use in a row/head.
I don't have these problems with iPhone 16 Pro. It just feels incredibly easy to use it.
I assume that a flat amplitudes are the jumping point here, and not necessarily the PWM frequency.

If I am not mistaken you did some test previsous years. If so, could you do a test on your iPhone 16P? Im curious about the PWM frequency and the modulation dept :)
