I don't have a iPhone X, but when I got my first iPhone, it was a 6, which is 4.7 Inches, and I had it 3 days, had major headache issues, nauseated, just sick feeling, and it was weird, as I had one of the HTC 4.7 Inch Phones a few yrs before then with no issue, but before the 6 I had a Note 3(5.7 or something like that), so maybe thats why I had issues, eventually took it back and got as 6+, now have a 7+, can't go below a 5.5 Inch screen, plus I have motion sickness, which is sucks, and vertigo at times.

I bought the iPhone X the other day and have been having the same symptoms as those in this thread.

Is there any solution or must I simply trade it in?

Get your eyes checked? Maybe progressive reading glasses?

I am very migraine sensitive headaches and need prism lens. Thought the X was an issue but then so too with Samsung iris recognition Note 8 and s8+

No trouble after a month with iPhone X.

No solution at this time other than to return and buy an iPhone 8 which doesn’t have PWM.

With all due respect, that's not much to go by. That's a standard catch-all response and means almost nothing.

Looks like it's time to abandon hope on the X and start waiting for the LCD version coming in fall.

It’s more complex than that but yes I’d personally advise the best option is to wait for the next generation models and see if they’re improved.

Im so relieved I have not gotten headaches from the screen. Beacause its a beautiful screen that makes the LCD on my old 7 Plus look washed out in comparison. It’s impossible to go back now.

I've never had vision problems before the iPhone X.

Are you saying that all I have to do is wait a month and it'll stop causing me problems?

That's a real shame. I love the iPhone X.

It's the OLED screen. How long have you had the phone?
Are you replying to me, sorry?

If so, I've had the phone for two days.

This is slightly turning me off from using an OLED phone now. But with how quickly technology is progressing seems like I'll be forced to use it soon. :/
Yeah. But there a lot of people who seem to be fine using an OLED phone. Maybe you're one of them.

I think it also might be just using it over time. Like your eyes will adjust to it - similar to how they adjust to light and darkness.

Yeah. I'd love for my eyes to adjust because I adore the iPhone X but I don't want to risk damaging my eyes by waiting.

Trust me, you should be more concerned if your eyes adjust. I’m still recovering. It’s not a positive for your eyes to adjust to something it shouldn’t have to adjust to.

Good point.
I'm sorry to hear that. Can I ask how long you've been recovering for?

I double checked and was surprised to see that I stopped using iPhone X almost three weeks ago yet my eyes still feel uncomfortable. Suffice to say I am growing genuinely concerned.

Has anyone actually taped over the IR emitters on the notch to see if Face ID and/or proximity sensor infrared radiation is harming their eyes?

I don't disagree that the OLED dimming is also a problem for some people. I honestly think both are causing different problems.

And apologies if the "tape over the IR" has been tested in this discussion, I kinda checked out for a while and wanted to see if this was resolved yet.

Some like me are having a much less painful experience with there X after switching true depth camera off .

Switch off for unlock is a pain so I’m using that again but have no problems , it’s the awareness future that’s causing the most pain .

Yeah, IR is really not harming your eyes.

It’s astonishing how long this thread has been going. Seriously, if there are that many of you having problems you’d be better off leaving feedback with Apple rather than posting on here. If all of you do it there might even be an impact.

Then again, it is also possible the majority of you are experiencing a psychosomatic effect. You’re worried about experiencing discomfort and so you do. The brain is an extremely potent organ.

Personally been using my iPhone X for months now. Used an OLED Galaxy S8 before that and my eyes are fine. It is a sad thing it causes problems for some of you but I would urge you, if you experience even the SLIGHTEST discomfort stop using and maybe consult a GP.
