Turn it off or really use tape to cover the sensor?
The likelihood is we still won’t have a definitive answer. Setting up face-ID made me uncomfortable and dizzy. The symptoms are congruent with PWM sensitivity but the odd part is that many people in this thread who aren’t sensitive to PWM on other devices are debilitatingly sensitive to iPhone X/XS. So it is possible though frankly unlikely that it has been FaceID all along; regardless, the PWM implementation is still problematic.
iPhone XR will be how we can isolate sensitivity to FaceID sensors from PWM sensitivity, if the former is the issue and not the latter.

Just curious here, have people experimented using FaceID on but Attention Awareness off? .
I am seriously lost for words tbh
I honestly think it is like trying to discuss anxiety or depression symptoms with someone who has never experienced either. It's like they cannot comprehend due to lack of personal experience. I think it would take someone reputable, such as a blogger, engineer, or even person of clout with Apple to experience it as well, in order to get somewhere.Had my call back from apple senior advisor, he said that the engineer had looked into my case and would like me to try a factory reset and to set up as a new phone.

For whatever reason, I just assumed that I would not have any issue with eye strain or headaches despite knowing of this thread. I opted for the 8 Plus over the X last year so it was not an issue. Then came the Max. My eyes would become dry, then strained, then headaches/slight nausea. But the most bothersome thing of all was what would happen after looking intently at the screen either reading text or composing a text message to someone. I would look up from the screen and things like the television, clock on the wall, etc would be blurry. It would take more than several blinks for my eyes to refocus. This has not happened to me prior to the Max. All things considered, I suppose I experienced what others have discussed in this thread. Quite disappointing as I thoroughly enjoyed the Max otherwise. This will be the first time I use the same phone for two years as I have zero interest in the XR. I honestly am not sure what I will do come 9/2019 because I would bet the farm that the same screens will be used on next year's devices.
Just ordered the XR. One might say the XR is a sight for XS Max sore eyes.Issues with the iPhone XS Max or XS have focused primarily on two factors: PWM and Face-ID. I returned my XS Max and since then have been going to the apple store and using the XS Max because I was really curious as to what was bothering me and hoping I could adjust the settings to deal with issue. I have concluded that the main issue w/the phone is glare. The glass on the display seems to be a magnet for reflections of any kind whereas I don’t see this issue with my 8 Plus. The glare is annoying and creates a fundamental discomfort in using the phone. I noticed this when I was typing emails on the phone vs. simply looking at the screen. Perhaps the glare could be handled with an matte antiglare screen, but this might also result in degrading the image. Will look at XR this Friday.

Given this was escalated to an engineer I was expecting better.
I think as others have said it probably needs a prominent vlogger to flag it.
It's my fault really I should have done something inside the first 14 days!
)) like buying 1000 usd phine and then hacking non original screen on it Think different
