Have you been following this thread? He's asking about officially supported wheels.
As an aside, it's kext, not KEK.

Logitech wheels are officially supported by Feral *however* we don't *officially* support the FFB Kext trick, it does work thought just as it uses unofficial means it is not something we can officially support.

Logitech don't manufacture wheels or pads anymore from what I can tell (for Mac or PC) so if you want a new Logitech wheel I would get one before they run out as once they are gone they are gone.

I meant officially supported by the manufacturer, i.e. drivers with full functionality.
As has been discussed many times here, the wheels full functionality is not available in any Feral title because there is no official FF driver.
Again, as stated before, there are only 2 choices for racers 1) use Feral's FTW utility for good button functionality but no FF, or 2) use the unsupported Logitech FF kext and lose the use of some buttons.
I choose option 2) every time as driving without FF destroys the experience for me.

'Car Status' doesn't work, no matter what I assign it to - a key or a wheel button.

This is the diagram showing tire temps etc.?

If so I have the same issue and it was also the same with F1 2012 - I wonder if it is because I only use cockpit view as it was there when I first went into the game but that was using a different camera.

I do turn off all the OSD options anyway as I want a more realistic view - I wish you could turn the red lights in the middle of the screen at the starts as well really and just view the real life locations.

Yes, it is that one, but more importantly, it shows the amount of fuel left which is critical in the race when changing fuel mixes.
F1 2012 is fine with me, and it is not affected by cockpit view which I use all the time. Doesn't appear in any view.
If Edwin doesn't reply here, I'll email Feral support on this. Very important to get this working.

I think the HUD appearance is also controlled by a few other factors/settings, I would contact support and file a ticket (with your support report). If you have the issue please email us don't just wait as you know someone else has emailed. The more reports the easier it is to track issues down (and fix them).

In the meantime I have asked our F1 2013 expert in QA to fire up the latest build in 10.9.2 and check all is well on our hardware.

Thanks!

Thanks Edwin. I emailed support about 0830 this morning.

I spoke with our QA team and I have some information for everyone interested as this is a lot more complex than you might think. :) Below is what we checked and what you should try in your game.

I think there are a numbers of things which could have resulted in the problem being mistaken for a bug. We checked both an Xbox 360 controller and the G27 Logitech steering wheel (same as iMacken). We did not have the kext FFB file installed although this should not affect the testing results.

Firstly a single UI setting controls the display of car status. This is found in Options -> OSD -> Car Status and should be set to On to display. It is doubtful this is the cause of the issue for customers but for completeness sake I have included it as a possible solution. Note that the option is on by default.

Secondly not all modes support the display of car status, the UI will not appear in Time Trial proving grounds for instance. This is consistent through all camera views and is likely by design. Tire wear and full consumption are not in effect during these modes so there is no reason to display car status data. Testing against the PC the behaviour is the same. Note that engine mapping selection and tyre compound options are also removed in this mode (accessible from the Dpad on the Xbox controller)

Thirdly if mapping car status to the buttons on the face of the G27 wheel all 3 red buttons to the right of the steering column map as Button 7 and all 3 to the left map as button 8. If the user has attempted to map different actions to the 3 buttons on the right they will have remapped button 7 each time and left car status as "Unassigned" if this were the first mapped action. This could be quite easy to miss, although within the thread the user also suggests they have bound the keyboard keys to the action and still experienced a problem so in this particular circumstance it is not likely to be he cause of the issue.

We have confirmed that the car status UI appears in a single race in a number of car views (including cockpit) when using both the G27 and Xbox controller. Note that the G27 was set up as a "Custom" control config and the override input device type was set to "Steering Wheel". The controls were then set and bound manually.

From the main menu we selected Grand Prix -> Red Bull -> Vettel -> Default Race settings (3 laps Race only) -> Australia.

Once in control of the car on the grid the car status UI was able to be selected using the relevant button binding. Please can you try the steps above with Vettel and see if you see the UI as expected? If so it's likely just the mode you were trying doesn't allow or use the overlay you are trying to activate.

Edwin, thanks a lot for your (as usual) detailed reply.
Some of my observations
1) the non-appearance is in Race and Career modes. I realise that it does not show up in other modes
2) I don't believe it is a G27 issue as even if I map it to a key, it doesn't work
3) I understand about the bank of 3 buttons on the wheel itself, but I have always mapped this to a button on the shifter
4) it worked perfectly fine in Mac version of F1 2012 (and previous versions on Windows)
I can't test what you suggested as I am away from my Mac for a few days, but let's hope we can work this out because as I said earlier, getting the fuel status is critical in a race.

Sure, if you have news let us know but I can confirm it appears here as expected on multiple sets of hardware containing various graphics cards.

I can confirm for me turning on the OSD setting worked - doh!

Will try the same in F1 2012 as well soon.

Hehe, good to know, figured it might be the case :)

Enjoy!

Edwin

Yep, red faces all round! Got my Mac back and, sure enough, Car Display was turned off in OSD options. Don't know how that happened, but false alarm anyway!

I just came from a PC and am now once again Backtothemac :) Anyway, I have the Steam Version of 2012 and am considering buying this. I have a late 2013 Retina MBP 13" with the Iris graphics. What can I expect as far as performance? Thanks ahead of time.

How many fps do you have? I get 37 fps in average on my 2012 rMBP at 1440x900 and Ultra settings.

Yeah, I play it on early 2013 rMBP and getting pretty much similar fps. Thought I figured out that I like it better running at high settings and 1680x1050 resolution. Looks great and runs great that way. ;)

Would this game run OK on my late 2011 15" MBP 2.4ghz quad i7 with 16gb, SSD, Radeon 6770 (1gb)? I would be using it with a 23" Apple Cinema Display. Want to be sure before spending the money on a steering wheel.

yes it will run fine, the game on high settings also looks awesome, i m sure you can run the game on med-high settings..

Sorry, but as I have already said, Logitech wheels are not officially supported in Mac OS X!

They stopped producing drivers some years ago.

Ok so I bought and installed the G27. It works great, but is difficult as hell to use after moving from the keyboard. Should I make some adjustments after setting up the buttons? Which ones? Because the sensitivity is super weird and some specific parameters would come handy. Or do everybody else use the default adjustments? (I doubt it.)

Not sure where to find the FAQs that come with the game. However I guess you were referring to this information, right? http://support.feralinteractive.com/en/mac-games/f12013/faqs/recommended_settings/

If yes, does it make a difference for these recommended settings if I'm using the FF kext?

Another super dumb question, how can I make sure that I have the FF kext enabled? What are the physical differences that I would notice? I ask because the original source talks about finding a file in library\extensions, though I haven't found anything there but still I think the kext might be working.

And a final question, unrelated to the use of the steering wheel. How can I see the fps while playing?

Thanks in advance.

PS: Can I use the first pedal as a brake instead of the middle one? I tend to obstruct the pedals as the second and third one are too close to each other and I have big feet, lol.

They are also found in the pre game options window. :)

No but the recommended settings for the 900 degree wheels assume you have installed Free The Wheel, however if 900 degree mode is enabled the Force Feedback will be disabled due to the Logitech drivers not supporting 900 degree mode on the Mac.

The wheel will provide force feedback when driving :)

It only works if you find the FF Kext from 10.6.8 and manually install it. Without the kext you will not get Force Feedback with the wheel as Apple stopped shipping the Logitech drivers with 10.7 and later.

You can't you can run a benchmark in the graphics options if you like.

Yes but only with 900 degree mode enabled, Logitech don't allow the Clutch pedal to be used by default only when the wheel is in 900 free mode.

Personal opinion, but, driving simulators without FF is a total non-starter.

As an aside, why would anyone want to use 900 degrees in a F1 simulator? Beyond me.

FF does add something to the mix with racing games, I agree with you there sadly it looks like Logitech have moved out of the Wheel and Gamepad market even on Windows so the only wheel companies are the more specialist companies who right now don't have Mac FF support.

It depends on the wheel some of them in locked mode have less movement than the F1 wheel has making them twitchy.
