NO! Steve Jobs touched it, so you can't clean it! ;)

I'm sure it was one of maaannny prototypes for the MBA. Actually, prototype may not even be the correct term. This example seems pretty far along in the design process. Calling it a production sample is probably more appropriate.

I didn't want it to look too perfect and be accused of creating it in Photoshop.

Smudges are difficult to perfect in Photoshop.

Ah, it's all good bro. Just bustin' your chops. Sorry, I have been following this thread but I didn't read every post, are you keeping it?

$1325. Brett has enough to get himself a new Rev. A model or a 2GHz MacBook! Watch Apple give him a call tomorrow and want to talk..

The thing is, Apple already said they don't want the MacBook Air, so he's free to do whatever he wants.. at least that's how I see it.

Saying is one thing and in writing is another. They have the firepower to do what they want against us little guys.

Brett, you are one of the luckiest people alive.

Oddly enough I don't really feel that way. It's been a stressful experience and I'm sure it's not over yet.

Now, I'm not saying poor me or anything, but I'm holding out on the "I'm the luckiest person alive!!!" declaration until this has all come to a close.

Thanks all, I'm off to bed.

Moved to Kansas in Sept (school), and hadn't posted one here until Monday night and didn't even think to update my location until it was already posted. Actually, when I initially bought the laptop I had it shipped to Texas (confirmed PayPal address) and then went home last week and picked it up.

Thats awesome, I go to KU! You don't go there, do you? lol

I think the black bottom looks quite nice and the missing "MacBook Air" is also quite nice.

Put a link to the Giz story, and the Macrumors story, in the auction.

I think it was a mistake to make it a 9 day auction. 9 days is an eternity on the web. In 9 days, the blogs will have forgotten the story, and bidders may retract their early frenzied bids if they have too much time to ponder them. You should have made it 3 days, and the hammer would have fallen before everyone stopped caring. Just look at the "iPhone with factory photos already on it" story...who cares now? No one. That phone wouldn't get $500 at auction.

If it does get bid up high, I predict a ridiculously high bid by a zero or low feedback time waster with no intention of paying. Sorry to be a pessimist.

Should pre-vet your bidders... besides: that's what second chance offerings are for... even if he goes back three bidders, he's already looking at ~ $1300

EDIT: Should drop the bid from nine days to five or three..... & add "featured listing" for $30.

EDIT2: W00t! I am the highest bidder :p

I thought Apple Employees weren't allowed to be conversing on the Rumor sites or whatever. Though, i guess this story is now on almost every Mac/Tech site on the web.

You think they have secrets or something?

I'll let you in on a secret... they are in the dark as much as we are.

just read all 16 pages of the thread....it's a good read!

why do you tempt us with things like "there's been a bit of a change."???

i hope your sale goes well and you get the MBA you wanted!
