Its a "netbook" killer... and it has ONLY 256Mb Ram. and the same graphics as the iPhone 3GS has. It pathetic. Its suppost to be 'THE BEST" web browsing experience you will EVER HAVE. On a netbook, it may be slower, but I can have quite a lot of tabs open in Safari and no refreshing is required. (reloading the page)

If you think the iPad is crap, then why are you in the iPad forum? The fact that you reply constantly to numerous people here, by aggressively forcing your opinion in a dogmatic way over an electronic device, says a lot about your personal life.

Maybe he does not hate the iPad but is just critical of the device...

I like my iPad and I complain about lots of issues with it. It's not perfect device and is far from one.

Oh I paid for the atomic browser...it's a nice browser with lots of cool features. It does solve the reload issue. But I am seeing a lot more checker boxes when I scroll. More memory could have helped the iPad become that much better at browsing. I thunk the low ram is a valid point. Especially since the next one has 512 ram...and it's a phone....

Any other browser recommendation? I wish they had a trial period like the android...some programs suck, but it sucks even more to pay for it.

I seem to remember you posting your dogmatic opinion in a previous thread. Ah yes...

Mobile phones are not a necessity, the majority of people using them don't even really need a mobile. It is just a mania.

The iPad is a godsend for people like me. I travel back and forth from Japan to Australia, Korea, Europe, and the US. I'd rather it and its OS, to any laptop with OSX or Windows, full of crap I don't need, use or want.

You talk an awful lot of crap.

Looks like my iPad wifi issues have resurfaced. I thought I had fixed my problems by changing my router security settings and rebooting my router with a new password. But today I am experiencing the same issues as before. Every five minutes I am asked to reenter my password to reconnect to my own wif network. My iPad had been working well for the last five or six days with no problems.

Looks like I will have to return my iPad. I guess I will wait for the iPad to get the bugs worked out and then try again. I love this device, but I can't deal with these constant interruptions. I don't know if my router is part of the problem or not. I do know that my router works fine on my iMac. It's just the iPad that it has problems with. Anyway I can't get rid of my router, because I have a two year contract with sprint. So it looks like I will have to look for fixes to these bugs or simply return the iPad

Does anyone know if Apple will allow you to take your iPad back to the an Apple store if you pre ordered online.

Helpermonkey, why r u still lurking on this forum? U hate the iPad. Okay. Fine. Free country. But why r u still here?!I thought you had said goodbye to the dreaded iPad? So say goodbye already.

I never even remotely said I hated it and I'll continue to read/lurk this board out of hope that the shortcomings that bothered me (me, not you) are resolved. The minute they are, I'm repurchasing it.

When the new iPhone comes out in June I'll read those forums as well. Hopefully that's acceptable.

The internet is serious business.

I hear a lot of "wif-fi problem" > "router settings", but I was wondering what happens if you don't have a router (just a cable modem) will I have issues?

I'm with the PP on this page that states the iPad isn't for everyone and just because they take it back doesn't mean they're an idiot.

Some may not like a 17" MacBook Pro so they get a smaller, more portable one. Others may not like the sharp corners on the MacBook Air or the lighter capacity and do the same.

I think those who put words in your mouth (that you are absolutely repulsed by the iPad and are ranting and raving like a ogar at the mere sight of it) are just incredibly insure fanboys who know this is a product Apple themselves have said they have a lot in stake over.

So they hear a pretty resonable complaint about a aspect about it (it's more heavier than I thought, without a stand, it's ackward to watch movies on, etc.) and they circle the wagons and protect the iPad like it was a vulnerable golden child and sling flaming arrows at those who criticize it.

It's hyperbole and I'm glad you are handling it maturely. If I had bought an iPod Classic (fatty), I would have returned it. Because it's the iPod Touch that's the perfect device for me. Some fanboys here treat you like a leper if you aren't on board with something they're so ginned up about.

I am not sure. From what I have heard from other people it seems to be an issue with certain routers and wifi devices. I guess I happen to have picked the wrong router. The only way you will really know is to give it a try.

hehehe You have Apple stock, don't you?;) Either that, or L*T*D has a gun to your back like he does everyone else. :p

You should learn the meaning of words before attempting to bite people with them. Especially when certain parts of your referenced sentence contradict your point.

Very well said! Totally agree.

Lovely. Today class we're going to learn about dogma and irony. So without further ado...

Dogma
A principle or set of principles laid down by an authority as incontrovertibly true.

Now, can we have an example of such a thing?

Mobile phones are not a necessity, the majority of people using them don't even really need a mobile. It is just a mania.

Now, wouldn't there be a sweet irony if, after highlighting this issue, I went and made a dogmatic statement?

You talk an awful lot of crap.

It appears that I made the mistake of assuming your education was as enlightening as my own. My apologies.

Farewell my friend. Were it not for the following, I likely would have kept you:

1) Week WiFi compared to every other device I own
2) WiFi dropping out and asking to re-input security credentials.
3) Safari forcing a refresh of websites when there should be no need. Load up your favorite gadget blog, open three articles from the main page on separate pages, and voila, all the pages start refreshing whenever you look at them. Why???!!!!! I’ll be really curious to see if this is a hardware limitation of the low memory or is fixable with software.
4) Youtube not working sometimes. Just odd….
5) Not a single game changing or innovative app. I know it’s only 1.5 weeks in and there’s a whole lot more to come, but no interactive magazines? No NYTimes full issue subscriptions? Where’s the magic?

If they can fix 1-3 with either a software or hardware update, I’ll buy another one. Number 5 is sure to be resolved sometime soon. As it stands now though, with the above problems and the little buddy occupying an odd and non-essential space between iPhone and laptop, it’s just not worth having around.

The complete ease with which the manager waived the restocking fee makes me think I’m not alone.

Should have tried the ABC app. It is an awesome concept and works great. Other than the calendar, I think it is my wife's favorite app.

Helper, I look forward to the day you love the iPad and get one. You seem as fascinated by it as we all are, and that's a good thing.

The vast majority of the people on this forum are so in love with their iPads that they can't take hearing even the slightest shortcoming of the device. It really is pretty sad.

I have two netbooks and zero ipads. Netbooks still suck.

I will say this in defense of Apple. This is a brand new category of device, of which non existed before the iPad... so they should be cut some slack, and people who ran out and bought one should have probably assumed their could be potential issues.

I am not saying that excuses any problems, but it should not be unexpected. I would also say at some point the wifi problem will likely be addressed. As I noted I don't have an iPad so I can't address how it works or doesn't work. When the first iPhones came out there were problems with people getting hooked up to their wifi. I know I had a blog about it and how to deal with it, and I got ridiculous amount of hits and did for a long time afterwards. The point is something will likely come up soon. If you are not prepared to wait and see what happens, I would say you probably should not have rushed out and bought one right away.

I certainly do not think someone should be attacked for wanting to returning their iPad. I am not sure I agree with all his issues on it, as some of them seem subjective, but my simian friend was not out of line. I certainly could understand how networking problems would make using a device like the iPad extremely frustrating. I also know that something that could potentially be off is causing problems. I suspect given my long history with networking and experience, I would have success in getting it to work at some point, but likely not before spending a lot of time on it. Given that Apple markets their products as buy and go for the everyman, this seems to be a problem. If it takes someone with 30 years of networking experience to use half the time, it is not working right.

I have a Dell netbook and an iPad. Let's just say since I got the iPad, the net book has not been turned on once. No comparison for my needs.
