Wow

I have no problems with my ipad. I sold my 17" macbook pro because this little device is everything I need.

I remotely log in to my imac and work of my ipad when in eed of raw computing power.

It just does not get any better then this (for now at least :))

And even without remote login I can still be productive thanks to pages & goodreader.

Why the ugliness

Gotta say I agree with the original poster. Not about returning the Ipad, which is certainly his right, but about all the venom and nastiness being heaped on him. He just posted his experience, which happened to be negative.

If it was such a useless thread, then why are there five pages of responses? Give the guy a break, he had a bad experience, and he shared it with forum crowd. Sounds like he may have hit a nerve or two with some folks who bought it and maybe are having some buyer's regret of their own. That's certainly not his fault.

I've always turned to these forums or help and advice, and have always gotten great and helpful responses. But this was just mean.

I never said they didn't, but not to the magnitude that apple's does. Plus look at the numbers of pc's they sell with their software on it. Comparing Microsoft to apple is like comparing Ferrari's to mustangs, there is no comparison. Just look at what Steve jobs is worth and then look at what Bill Gates is worth!! End of story. I am done arguing about this. The numbers speak for themselves.

Yeah, because net worth of company founders is directly comparable to quality of products made by said companies. You do realize that Micro$oft doesn't make computers, right? And therefore, they don't sell ANY number of PCs. I mean, you were boasting earlier about a masters degree in computer science or some such crap, so I figure an educated guy like you probably knows all that basic stuff.

But keep that head firmly buried in the sand...you probably don't believe that dozens of "student"-athletes have been cheating at FSU for years either.

I think that the wifi issues are being overblown. I haven't read every post on the subject of course, but from what I've seen, most people have been able to resolve the issues by tweaking their router settings. I don't believe that it has anything to do with faulty hardware.
You can tweak router settings in your home, but you cannot tweak the settings at a hotel, at an airport, at a coffee shop, at a restaurant, at your place of work, etc. Tweaking router settings, to me, is a stop-gap measure until Apple finds a real solution.

I really stand to gain nothing from lying that I'm a long time member. I joined 1.5 years or so ago when I got my 3G (my first Apple product) and can't find the username or email I used (it was likely a temp spam eliminating account I was using at the time).

My iPad has worked flawlessly over wifi at home, Barnes & Noble, Panera's, my work and in a professional office building. Never had an issue.

I love the YouTube layout!!

Safari has been awesome.

I have been selective about apps but am thrilled with the 6 or 7 that I have purchased.

One man's ceiling is another man's floor.

See ya

You're doing something wrong...

Being able to conveniently read in portrait mode on such a nice screen is game-changing in and of itself.

Set it up on my treadmill today, made the text bigger, and read while running, I am glad I bought it.

I also had no issues with my Ipad. I guess several people do not use WPA2 for encryption on their home network? Never had a issue with Wifi just personally, but to each his own I guess.

I'm taking the kill em with kindness approach to these posts, but you folks sure would make it easy for someone who did vibe on trolling.

I mean seriously? I can't post politely about my dissatisfaction on a product in an independent forum devoted to discussing that product? Wow.........

I am a huge Apple fan but I think your original post was fine. I don't know why people are getting so hurt over it. Some people defend Apple even when it would behoove them to understand different viewpoints.

I mean come on guys, is this post going to make you enjoy your iPad less? I would hope not. Many of you are probably reading this post on your iPad that you love. Great for you! I ordered one and can't wait to get it!

But let people have their opinions. If you don't agree, counter the claim with evidence, not illogical rants about him forgetting his previous username, the iPad not liking him, etc..

The only post that made sense was that he could of sold it for a profit.

Side Note: jessica. come on. If he forgot his username email and password, how is he supposed to retrieve it? What if he used it a year and a half ago and then wanted to share his insight on the iPad (which I'm sure is exactly the case), he makes another account. It's not like he is making 10 accounts used for trolling which is what I'm sure the Rules addresses.

1. Never had this one happen at all not a single time... do you have a crappy router?
2. Never seen this issue either... see 1.
3. It has limited ram dude get over it. I see this as a non-issue.
4. never had this happen either see 1 thru 3.
5. REALLY?

Its a "netbook" killer... and it has ONLY 256Mb Ram. and the same graphics as the iPhone 3GS has. It pathetic. Its suppost to be 'THE BEST" web browsing experience you will EVER HAVE. On a netbook, it may be slower, but I can have quite a lot of tabs open in Safari and no refreshing is required. (reloading the page)

Get the Opera Browser. Problem Solved.

Well, a lot of first post users are trolling.

I can agree that 1-4 could be possible wifi problems.

However, for 3, there is a $0.99 browser that is said to work very well, but I suspect Apple will fix Safari with upcoming update.

5. Totally disagree. There are plenty of innovative apps.

The safari reloading issue has been around ever sine the iPhone went on sale... June 29, 2007. If they can fix it for the iPad, they should do the same for the iPhones especially because the 3GS has the same hardware except the CPu as iPad.

I just bought an iPad and I have the EXACT same complaints, except for #5. I think the iPad has plenty of apps considering it was recently released. HOWEVER...The prices on the apps are way too high. Not being able to "try" before you buy sucks when the price is so high.

My wifi signal constantly changes from weak to strong for no reason. Weak signal like 10 feet way? Come on! I have not been disconnected yet but occasionally it feels like the internet is acting slow. My co-work has complained about having to reconnect and enter the security code at least once a day...this scares me.

Is the iPad "magical"? Far from it. Steve says this will "replace" netbook...Really Steve? I can't even print or watch flash videos. It won't be replacing mine.

I am not selling the iPad. I like it very much. But the points OP mentions here are valid points. I can't wait for the second generation iPad. But this iPad will definitely keep me happy till then.

I'm thinking the Safari reloading is a software issue. My 3GS seems to reload less than my iPad, but since it does it so quickly I can deal with it for now.

But even though many people on here are defending the iPad I think you made the right choice. If you spend money on a product that doesn't suit your needs you have every right to take it back.

I'm loving my iPad but it has its shortcomings. In a restaurant with free WiFi I could connect with one bar on my 3GS but my iPad couldn't see the network. The iWork suite still leaves much to be desired (I just want the toolbar in landscape mode in Pages...) I can't upload files into an HTML form. All these things are disappointing but could be fixed in software. I am just hoping Apple addresses them before the Fall OS 4 update.

And I have to agree with you on the 'killer app'. I love all the apps I have on my iPad but as of yet there is not one app that makes people go, "I need an iPad just for that!" I think something will come in time though, and for certain niche's apps are already showing up (For example, Korg iElectribe - I love this app!)

starting today, my ipad decided to go completely wierd on the wifi, I am supposedly connected to my home wifi, which is working perfectly on the macbook pro, mac mini and iphone 3gs, but can't get internet on the ipad (even though the connected symbol is on and in network it states im connected) what's the fix??? multiple reboots, wireless on/off, and re-syncing with itunes nothing worked...wtf

A poster on Gizmodo mentioned that the new Atomic web browser app doesn't suffer from the same refresh problems. Certainly gives hope to there being a software fix.

Helpermonkey, why r u still lurking on this forum? U hate the iPad. Okay. Fine. Free country. But why r u still here?!I thought you had said goodbye to the dreaded iPad? So say goodbye already.

It does seem to be mostly "better experience than the iPhone" as opposed to "can't do at all on the iPhone" so far...which is pretty much what I expected. I did think there'd be more new apps post-launch by now but there's probably just not enough in the hands of Devs at this point. Some may be holding off till the 3G version too, or outside the US.

And  at those who believe criticizing = hate. I still think it's an unnecessary luxury item, am annoyed at Steve's anti-Flash stance and IMO Apple cheaped out on the 256MB RAM hurting user experience with the Safari reloads + upcoming multitasking. But guess what, I still loved playing with it at the Apple Store and don't doubt I'll eventually have one by this time next year.

He also said he would buy another if they fixed the issues. So what's your point? Now he has to leave the forum and walk off into the wilderness. You need to relax

Yeah! Only after you have made 100s of mindless fawning posts (aPPLe RoCkZZ!) are you allowed to even dare register your disappointment at an apple product.
Helper Monkey got a ridiculous amount of flak on this thread from some serious fanboy losers but it's heartening to see people defend his right to, you know, have an opinion about something that he spent his own money on.
Jessica., it takes a bit of class to admit you were wrong. Your silence is deafening.
