Completely agree.

Weak wi-fi is an acknowledged issue, and if the suggestions posted by Apple in their support pages do not solve the OP's problem, it is his right to return it. It is also his right to let us know that Apple's suggestions did not work for him. Apple has done many things right, but they have also messed up.

Without people complaining of real problems, there would be no incentive for companies to improve quality.

Absolutely!

I expect Apple to respond to genuine customer complaints. Of course they will be a lot quicker to respond if they see an impact on sales or quality perception. This is why I'm sure the wifi thing is already on its way. As for the filesystem issues I've complained about, I hope its as obvious to them as the wifi one.

This, Apple always takes care of it's customers quickly.

I've heard conflicting reports on how much RAM it has... I've heard 256 meg and 512 meg. I hope it's the latter.

I had some minor WiFi problems... once it asked me to re-enter my stuff, but only once. On my local network, it was fine, but trying to use hotspots, it was very iffy.

I returned mine today since I have a 3G on order, and I miss it terribly. For me, it's SO cool being able to hold the thing in my hands and surf. I'm not tied to the computer (even though I love my Mac). I don't care that Safari refreshes the page, it only takes a moment. Besides, since they allowed Opera Mini on the iPhone, odds are good we'll see Opera for the iPad too.

Anybody who bashes the iPad as being "useless" (or anything like that) doesn't get the point of it. I do realize the thing isn't really meant for "real" work, but there are apps that allow it. I have an app that lets me RDP into my Windows servers. I have another that lets me SSH into my Linux servers. I have another that lets me ftp. For something as small and portable as the iPad is, it's perfect for carrying around and CAN be used to do limited real work in a crunch. I love it for that.

Since I'm getting a 3G, I plan to get a mount for my car and truck so I can have it at my fingertips when driving. That way I can have email on the road, and also have all my music too.

So come on Apple, let's get those 3G's shipping please!

Rob

Dear Apple forum,

I just registered to tell you I hate your inferior Apple products.

Sincerely,

lolitrollu

PS

I'm so ronery

My wife almost exclusively uses the iPad now for her e-mail and web surfing. This is the main reason I got it as it's quicker for your casual browsing and e-mail. I would say that the iPad is probably something that I would not use for business, but as the device evolves, I might find a use for it, but as of today, it's a big fat no. My wife is also using it to read magazines through zinio. So overall a consumption type device? As far as the weak wifi, I had issues with WEP configurations, but I've since switched to WPS wpa protected mode and I've to date not had an issue. I'm using an ATT Uverse 2-wire home residential gateway in wireless G mode.

What it is, is pretty remarkable that a device can have such an effect. No other tech company's devices do this. Kudos to Apple for making tech so desirable.

Reading comprehension fail. But, i agree with 3. Anyone who doesnt is playing themselves. Why is there a spot for what, 12 windows to be open, and you have to constantly reload them? its a little annoying.

+1

Apple seems to have gotten to the point where many of their customers are sheep. I seriously own MOST of Apple's products and upgrade them yearly, but that doesn't mean that EVERYTHING Apple does is good, they can blunder too.

Just logged in to see if there was a software fix for the wifi issue yet. Thanks for your post, OP. Don't see why people have to bash. Can you haters imagine having your connection dropped every 10 minutes? Re entering a 10 digit password, having to stop what you're working on to turn on and off wifi. It completely sucks. This is epic fail for a product that is all about web & email. The product essentially stops working every 10 minutes until you reboot.

I'm keeping mine but this is a major annoyance. Learned my lesson about being an early adopter.

We all know that Apple products, no matter how well they market it, have flaws. They are not perfect but, in my opinion, definitely less buggy then similar products out there.

In this case, I don't think the issue is about the iPad "love story" but rather it appears that the thread starter registered a new account just to slam the iPad which really is quite extreme.

I agree, but is it OK if I really genuinely like the iPad?
In my opinion, it is a way better product than, for example, the iPod Touch.

only 1 thing wrong and its fixed.

I have not had a single wifi issue. No complaints. Go Apple

First let me say I havnt had any problems with my ipad except hotmail which was easily fixed by loading the mobile version of the website and heck I even learned how to make that a shorcut microsoft butterfly icon on the ipad desktop HEHE.

Now that I know how to add that shortcut icon I did the same to my iphone it now has the butterfly icon. The iphone automatically loaded the mobile version from the beginning is why I never thought to redirect to the mobile version to begin with on my ipad.

So thanks to my ipad has actually made it easier for me to load hotmail on my iphone :D

I have loaded my ipad wifi at home, work, friends houses and other places without any problems. Now with that said I was also thinking about how my iphone loads in all these places without any troubles either.

I would be curious to know how many people that have wifi trouble with the ipad actually would also have trouble with the iphone wifi in those same troubled locations?

I was going to sell my ipod touch 2nd gens got 2 of em but think I will keep them as ipad track pads LOL. Just started to play with the citrix app man this is gonna be fun I love my ipad :apple:

Love mine. Haven't experienced any of your issues.

No issues at all!!!

I knew what I was getting before I bought my 64 GB. I have an Airport Extreme with separate named networks. My Ipad works perfectly. It is better than I thought right now, and it will continue to get better. I haven't used my laptop since I bought the Ipad.
