Your loss. I think the ipad is great and am actually thunking about selling my 15" mbp because I now use the iPad for everything I used that for ( I have an iMac for real commuting work).

As for your problems, ive never had a problem with 1-3. I will lose my wifi connection during prolonged periods of inactivity, but big deal.

As for you tube, I think there are just issues with the you tube service itself. Even on my mbp and iMac at home over my dsl connection you tube sucks most of the time. Videos take forever to load, while videos from other places like CNN and fox news play without any problem.

As for apps, my personal feeling is that even for the iphone most of the apps are just garbage and a waste of money. There are a few useful apps I have found for free, but by and large the app store is kind of a joke.

Posted from my iPad.

I love how people get so defensive about a stupid piece of electronics. Quit acting like you have no idea about all these problems. If you actually are a techie as you claim then you're not oblivious to the tons of people that are having the exact same problems as the poster. Result of being an early adopter? Yes. Will they be fixed? Yes. Too soon to take back? Personal opinion. The sob is supposed to work. I can promise you that if jobs had announced at demo that "oh yeah, you'll also have to turn your wifi off and back on every time you wake it until we can fix this" that i wouldn't have bought one. I'm not returning but it's very disheartening.

I agree, but is it OK if I really genuinely like the iPad?
In my opinion, it is a way better product than, for example, the iPod Touch.

No problem, what I get annoyed by is the people who uses stupid ways to try to brush over the bad things with the iPad. Depending on what the person using the iPad is doing they will either be annoyed by the bad things or not.

i dont see many people getting defensive. So whats the big deal about having to turn your wifi back on after hours of inactivity? Is it possible this was designed as a battery saving thing? For me its really a non-issue. It really only seems to happen after LONG periods (overnight while sleeping) of inactivity.

Now the one thing thats kind of weird is that in my previous post in this thread i posted from my ipad, and I did proofread it before posting and it was fine, but there were some serious errors that showed up in the post.

I would have kept it a while longer. If you've been an early adopter for anything you should know that it's just now starting to get its feet wet. Come fall with the software update and progression of new apps it should take off. I've been happy with mine so far and can't wait to see what else happens!

I returned mine a few days ago PER Apple's request. We tried 3 different routers and 2 different networks and the Ipad would not perform as it should have. The signal was all over the place, the speed was way down. I was using a air port express so you can't blame that. I thought about keeping it but the level 2 supervisor said to me that they had NO IDEA what was causing these issues. So if it was hardware, they expected to receive around 40,000 units back so I had better get in the front of the line! Those were his exact words. I'm not saying it wasn't enjoyable to play with, the internet was great, just slow but everything else was fine. I really hope the replacement fixes these issues. Why would I spend $750 dollars on one and not have it perform 100 percent? Hell my Droid was speed testing faster than my Ipad!! That is pretty sad. That is dumb to just accept the problems that it has because its neat. People really need to get these replaced so apple will learn from this. You wouldn't buy a car and have to restart it at every stop light would you? This is the same thing in smaller terms.

I think that the wifi issues are being overblown. I haven't read every post on the subject of course, but from what I've seen, most people have been able to resolve the issues by tweaking their router settings. I don't believe that it has anything to do with faulty hardware. Also, I'm convinced that the Safari page reload issue has nothing to do with memory. I think was an intentional design decision that was obviously a mistake. Or maybe it's a bug. But I'm sure it will be resolved with an update.

To the OP, it's hard to believe that you didn't know that your post would draw a lot of flack on this forum. It's kind of like throwing gasoline on a fire and then being surprised that the flames got higher.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but for the page reload/ lack of ram problem: since installing Opera on my iphone i have not had to deal with this problem. Im guessing it has to do with the fact the Opera sends compressed "images" of a web page that their own servers render for you... Whatever the reason its a nice change since this reload issue is quite annoying on the iphone as well.

How are they being overblown? There have been over 40,000 cases submitted to apple and its been in newspapers and everywhere else. Lets face that facts here. I bought 2 27 Inch Imac's and both had bad screens so I took them back. I am on my 2nd apple tv in less than 4 months, I have had 2 iphone's that went bad. I think apple has some issues that they need to address because there quality is slipping big time. I am in the computer programming field and my fellow employee's will not touch a apple product except maybe a ipod. I hate to say it, but i am starting to see why major computer professions use Microsoft software, it works exactly like its supposed to. But I guess that is why Bill Gates is the 2nd richest man in the world and Steve Job is no where in site. Lets be completely honest here, has apple had a successful launch with any of their products? I mean that had no issues what so ever? I can not think of 1. Not 1 single 1.

Your post makes it sound like every other company HAS had nothing but successful product launches. Nonsense post.

1. Never had this one happen at all not a single time... do you have a crappy router?
2. Never seen this issue either... see 1.
3. It has limited ram dude get over it. I see this as a non-issue.
4. never had this happen either see 1 thru 3.
5. REALLY?

/b

Knowing the explanation for an issue and being a non-issue are too very different things.

Ok, Give me a honest answer here. Has apple EVER launched a product that did not have major issues on the release date? The first Ipods did, i had 3 of those before I got a good one. The Iphone, had 2 of those before I got a good one, apple tv, had 2 of those and this one is acting up after just a few months again, 2 Imac's, both had yellow tinge, 2 ipod touches, the first one had an antenna problem and now the ipad which i just sent back so I will at least be on number 2 on that too. I love apple's products, but honestly they need to do a lot more testing before they release them. When we design programs for companies, sometimes we test for up to 6 months before we release them but sometimes they also cost 6 figures but that is not the point.I will just leave it at this, if this 2nd Ipad does not work like it is supposed to, it will be the last apple product I ever purchase. Android is not far behind anyways.

I'm not answering the first line of your question because I didn't respond to your first post defending Apple's products or denying issues. Not a single person that has posted so far has said anything regarding Apple having successful product launches in terms of being issue free. You're just showing a lot of hate for Apple for whatever reason. Another nonsense post.

I agree, farewell iPad. I was just at Best Buy and they have a slew of all models in stock. I asked the sales guy if I brought my 32 gig back for a 64 gig if I would be charged a restocking fee and he said, "Nope" you have 14 days to return it, so I'm going to go ahead and pay the $100.00 and get the 64 gig, so fare ye well 32 gig.

I actually don't have alot of hate for apple to be honest. I just wish they wouldn't hurry things out the damn door so fast. These products should not have all these problems. No other company does, why is apple so special that they get away with it? Because they sell NEAT products!! I have been in the computer field for 10 years and have been designing websites, programs, etc and if we sent out a program that had this many problems I would be jobless. I have a masters degree in computer science so I have been at this for along time and I can't believe apple keeps doing this with their products. It's costing them money and business. I guess that's why pc's sell like 50 to 1 when it comes to computer sales.

I have purchased MacBooks (plural), a MacBook pro, several iMacs (like 5-6), apple tv, several iPods, iPod touches (2), iPhones ( like 4), and recently 2 ipads. I have never had to return a single item. You have had some horrible luck with your products. I am sure that you have heard about user error being a big factor in faulty gear.

This isn't posted in defense of anything, just simply stating that there are 2 sides to a story.

No man your probably right. Ive only been building my own computers for 10+ years now. It has to be my fault that my imac's had yellow tinge and my classic ipod's would just freeze or my ipad wouldn't pick up wireless signals with out dropping them every 30 seconds. Your right, I'll take the blame so you apple fan boys can be happy about your apple products. But put one of your imac's up against my computer and see what happens! You will get embarrassed terribly!:D

It isn't about being a fanboy. You make it appear that all apple product are generally faulty. Someone who has purchased a lot of products has shown a different side of the story.

I don't accept your computer challenge btw.

Ok, where do you live, and if I win your computer is mine and vise versa!

+1

Apple seems to have gotten to the point where many of their customers are sheep. I seriously own MOST of Apple's products and upgrade them yearly, but that doesn't mean that EVERYTHING Apple does is good, they can blunder too.

/Rant

Not sheep. Just most are intelligent enough to realize is is not a laptop or desktop but a mobile device. When (and it isn't often on my 64gb one) they do reload it is less than a second or fast enough so it doesn't bother me what so ever. So maybe my internet connection speed is just that quick or it could be that I have used mobile cards for my computers since edge as well as the iPhone 1st gen and then a 3Gs. So maybe some of us just get that it is a mobile device and there WILL be limitations to it.

/End Rant

To the OP. Just be aware that if Apple decides to check the wifi in the store and it works they will most likely charge a restocking fee. Based on other threads here of people taking them back instead of exchanging them.

Yep, because nothing ever goes wrong with a PC, at launch or any other day.
I never said they didn't, but not to the magnitude that apple's does. Plus look at the numbers of pc's they sell with their software on it. Comparing Microsoft to apple is like comparing Ferrari's to mustangs, there is no comparison. Just look at what Steve jobs is worth and then look at what Bill Gates is worth!! End of story. I am done arguing about this. The numbers speak for themselves.
