Out of my 5 iPods, my 5th Generation Nano is my favorite. It has a decent amount of storage and yet is still very small and portable. It does everything my 5th Gen classic does, but doesn't feel like a brick. I Love it.

Its portability is the best quality.I too have Nano and loved its features.:)

+1 on the 5th gen nano. Actually, +2. My 2nd-gen nano was stolen a while ago; I could've got the new one, but instead I got a second 5th gen in the Apple refurb section. Video playback + video camera + no-look click wheel for the bleepin' win.

Insofar as ones I haven't had, it's a tossup between the current iPod touch and the 4th gen nano; the 4G nano's blue was the perfect shade of electric blue and would've matched my v-moda Vibes exactly. Still, I'm glad I got the 5th gen instead for the increased functionality.

iPod video, best ipod ever made. Sadly mine had a HDD Fail from which it was exchanged for an iPod touch and then i was :( . Don't get me wrong, the iPod touch is a great device but it isn't as good as a proper iPod don't you agree? ;)

The 2nd Gen iPod. It was my first venture into portable players. I had to install a firewire card in my PC and because iTunes was not on Windows, I had to use a program called Ephpod to manage my library. It was worth it. I used it for years. Even when the battery started holding very little charge, I plugged it in and used it with a T-amp. I don't use it a lot nowadays, but it still runs.

Here is a pic in my old T-amp setup:

Why would anyone be on an Apple forum site and say that the Zune is better. Any Ipod would kick the Zune's butt.... Just saying...

Why would anyone be on an Apple forum site and say that the Zune is better. Any Ipod would kick the Zune's butt.... Just saying...

From a hardware stand point the Zune is better than an iPod, its really hard to argue that. Specifically, the hard drive models. The software is where Zune really falls flat on its face, its just not very user-friendly in comparison to iTunes and has far fewer management options, specifically smart playlists.

Lets remember it was the Zune 16 model that pushed apple to add a capacity bump to the 4th gen nano. Who knows we might still be at 8GB if apple had their way.

..but to stay on topic, I would have to say overall my favorite would have to be the 2008 120GB Classic and the 2009/10 160GB Classic. I picked them because:
- massive capacity doesn't force me to pick and choose

- transfer rates are still the fastest (which is ironic since people think the hard drive model is the slowest)

- Click wheel makes in-pocket navigation a breeze..vs the touch screen in which you have to look at it all the time..though I must say the 6th gen navigation using a arm band is a breeze to operate as well.

- Fits nicely in hand, though the dual layer hd models fit even better (the "thick" models, 60GB/80GB iPod Video, 160GB 2007 Classic)

- Reliable, I've only had one hard drive model fail on me, a 5th gen 80GB refurb that landed flat on its face. It has since been swapped with a 320GB hard drive as is strictly used for displaying video on my TV. I've never had another one fail on me and I've had: 4th gen 20GB, 5th gen 60GB, 5th gen 80GB, 6th gen 160GB, 7th gen 120GB, and my latest baby the 7th gen 160GB.

- Genius/Quick shortcuts is why I pick the 7th gen over all the others, it makes it much quicker to switch from a song on the now playing list and go straight to the artist or album page without having to navigate menus.

I feel like apple dropped the classic on its face and that it has so much more potential than what apple left it as.

I'm torn between the 160 GB Classic, the original mini, and the 5G nano.

The original mini, for it's time, was just perfect. Perfect size, and gorgeous. Awesome feel in your hand, large clickwheel for in-your-back-pocket-navigation. It was my first iPod, and I used it for 3 years before I lost it. 1.5 years ago, I found a NIB one on ebay (silver 4 GB second gen, close enough as mine was a silver 4 GB first gen) so I bought it for $80. I pull it out when I feel nostalgic, like I did this past weekend. I used it all weekend and remembered what a great iPod it was.

The 5G nano, is just awesome and is just a 32 GB flash chip away from true perfection. I really don't care for the other features (video camera, radio, video, etc.) but it's an amazing little package, and has an awesome form factor that's hard to beat. It's so much in such a small, elegant package. I actually bought three of them--red, green, and orange, all 16 GB models. my only fear is that I have 12 GB of music now, so they are getting full but these are iPods I see myself using for several years, like my original mini so I'm concerned about them getting full.

Then there's the 160 GB 2009/2010 classic. I gotta admit, THIS is my go-to iPod. This is my favorite, it feels so good in the hand, I love the slab-sided size of it, especially in it's Switcheasy hard plastic case, and it's nice and fast, as mentioned the transfer speeds are insane compared to any other iPod, and it just looks beautiful. I remember when they came out I thought they were absolutely hideous (well, the black one still looks a little cheap to me, but silver, which I have I think is gorgeous), and I hated the split screen software, but now I love it. Even though I only have 12 GB of music, the Classic really is the best iPod for me, and my favorite. The battery is awesome too.

So I guess it's another vote for the newest Classic.:)

I may be alone, but it's like my lil buddy - so convenient, beautiful, doesn't get in the way & love the UI. The most recent software update changed the way playlists are played and displayed to be the same as the iPod Touch - I liked it better before, but apparantly I was in the minority. Oh, and I don't want video on an iPod. Awesome product.

My favorite was the 3rd Gen iPod Nano, the "fatty".

I only had it for a few months but it was a great iPod. The reason I got rid of it so quickly is because the storage on them was way too weak for me. I need at least 16GB to be happy with my player. A close second is the iPod Classic, easy to navigate and can hold all my music.

I currently use my iPod Classic 160GB at work and in the car, while I use my iPod Nano 6th Gen for working out and carrying around in my suit all the time. My iPad gets some music play time as well but not as often as the other two.

I had a 4GB 3rd gen Nano for 3 years (I actually had two, because a metal detector at Six Flags messed up my screen on one), and it was great. Only thing that I didn't like was the 4GB.

I got an 80GB 5th Gen Classic last September, and so far I love it. As my library keeps growing, I don't have to worry about running out of space. Plus the battery life is great. Plus it can even jailbreak my PS3 haha. Definitely my favorite device I own tbh.

I owned the first gen shuffle, 80 gig first gen classic and 3rd gen touch... out of the 3 my classic is my favorite as someone prior said it holds most of my music(i own alot) you dont have to worry about running out of space and ive owned the thing since the first day they were released and its still running like a charm.... i wouldnt care if someone stole my touch but i would cry over my classic

From an idealized form factor I agree, but I was hoping they'd not only stick with that design, but get it up to 32GB (last year).

Overall though, I;ve got to give it to the 160GB Classic (7 G). And that's likely o be outdone when Apple pops one of the 220GB drives in the next update. I couldn't wait and couldn't handle having to manage my Red Fatty 8GB on a regular basis. I want one device to hold all or at least as much of (be the vast majority) of my music as possible. I want to pull up any tune on a whim and not be limited.

I couldn't wait for the update, so I just got a new Classic a couple of weeks ago and I'm quite happy. The only downside was exchanging my 60GB iPod Photo to get the 10% discount. However, that brick hasn't worked consistently for several years. I'd get a few days out of it here and there if I could hit it just right to get the HD back on track. Now I've got one that works and holds nearly three times as much music. Happy days are here again.:D

This one has always been my favorite. Maybe because it was my first!

And the winner is...

279802.jpg

I've got all nanos from 2nd to 6th generation (gotta get one 1st gen someday) and to this day I absolutely love everything about this little buddy, especially the higher resolution cover flow compared to 4th and 5th generations. Like many others I'd have loved to see it upgraded to 16 GB or even 32 GB. It would've been perfection.

I have to admit though: I'm a sucker for all iPods. I love my classic for handling and - who would've thought - storage, I love my touch for all the entertainment options and capacity (64 gigs of flash... hooray), I love my shuffles (especially 2nd gen) and don't even really know why... ;)

Anyhow, 3rd gen nano Product RED is my favorite iPod of all time - because you made me choose. :D
