Pb 12"

I see a trend here. The PB 12" was incredible. I've been using one until very recently when I was forcibly upgraded by my work. I'd rather be using the 12" powerhouse than this over-sized monster mbp 15". I would be in love with a unibody 12".

Macintosh Classic:

This was the first computer I ever used. 9" B&W CRT, 8Mhz Motorola 68000. I miss Mac OS 6.0.7.

I can't even believe I remember this one! This is the ones we had in school.

The iMac G4 is definitely the best Mac of all time. The design was so perfect that there really hasn't been a better designed all-in-one yet and most likely ever. After the iMac G4 I have to put the perfectly sized 12" PowerBook next. To me it looks like the G4 era was Apple's golden age, so to speak.

+1 on the iMac G4!

I'm still deciding weather or not I should get a eMac (cheaper, can buy it next month) or a iMac G4 (more expensive, have to wait another month at the least, slightly more powerful, LOOKS AMAZING).

powerbook duo 270c - my first love. back in the early nineties, it opened a new world to me. what a design. sometimes I still miss the little trackball.

there were many good friends on the way before and after (lc 475, power mac 6100, performa 5100, umax pulsar 9000 - nice one! - anyone remember clones?!, ibook G4 12" - reallyreaally nice one!!! -- but none came close to the machine on my lap right now:

the classic macbook pro 17. the perfect laptop, period.
eye-candy display (yes, glossy!!! not glassy!, ear-pleasing speakers, a keyboard where every letter is a joy, ... and not to big at all. perfect. so nice in the morning: sipping on a cup of black, strong coffee (sant' angelo solo robusta), and waking up my mbp: its gonna be a good day. ...and the slumbering risk of a faulty 8600 makes it even more tingly, doesn't it...:()

Holy **** that's a thick computer!

You consider 1.35 inches thick?

My own top of the line eMac was $200 shipped, which is almost less then most of the low end iMac G4's out there.. if you want the power, eMac is the way to go. But I can't deny the pure awesome of the iMac, either. :p

My wife's favorite was the Ruby iMac:

My favorite is my Mac Pro in my sig. I've owned about 20 Macs over the years, but I'm addicted to my current Mac Pro. It's truly amazing.

FYI: I keep a list of all the Macs I've owned over the years, because I've had so many of them, and I sometimes need to take a look back at them for various reasons. It's really helpful to do, since I've owned so many of them over the years.... and it's sometimes hard to remember the exact configurations I had.

Hello.

The current Mac Pro is about my favorite Mac of all time.
Wow! that thing looks like it could tear up video like nothing else.

I'll settle for my MP 1.1... some would say the Mac Pro lacks character but not me. I've got everything all matching in aluminum... the 23" cinema display, iSight, silver/white Z4 speakers, LaCie 2bigTriple and Quadra externals...
The whole set. :)

It does what I want and does it really, really fast too.

I'd just love to get a MacBook Air to go with it someday....

Have Fun,
Keri

I would have to go with the 2006 macbook, the magnetic closing mechanism, great keyboard, and user replaceable hard drive, built in isight, great wireless reception all in a pretty small package.
And of course the imac G4, apple really should reintroduce that one.

I really agree, the newer iMacs are thinner but the iMac G4 has such a beautiful display and arm, etc
---
Also, about the MacBook, do you mean specifically 2006 because I want a used one of those but I heard the case can yellow and the palmrest can chip. Could that be fixed by something like a wipe (of course I mean the yellowing)

My Favorite Mac, Its tied between the bondi blue iMac and the G4 Cube.

Cube is really beautiful. Incredible engineering.

Really beautiful, but also a great lesson on how not to build a functioning computer.

Anyway my favorite macs:

IIci, my first mac and boy was it fast at the time.

The first mac I had at home, a LC III, it was yesteryears Mac Mini in terms of price and power, it could keep up with a II only at the cost of expansion. Paired with a 14" color monitor and an ImageWriter II this was a rockin' system.

Ahhh the pismo G3/400, I felt so special watching DVD's on the go on my laptop at the time.

powerbook_a.jpg

The beginning of the widescreen laptop movement. The TiBook was so revolutionary for it's time! So thin, powerful, and versatile! USB, FireWire, Disc Burning, 15" Widescreen, 1" thin, stellar battery life, Ethernet and modem, and built in Airport!

I've owned two over the years (a 500MHz "Mercury" version, and then an 800MHz version, which had a faulty logic board and was converted to an 867MHz), and they were absolutely rock solid. The 800MHz board had a graphics issue common of that generation, but other than that, those two units were absolute tanks. I loved both of them to pieces, but ended up selling both of them for profit (bought them used) to fund newer units. The 500 funded the 867, the 867 funded my 1.33GHz Al Book, and I sold my Al Book this past week to fund the MBP in my sig! :)

Pismo by far the greatest.

The Powerbook G3 "Pismo" is the best computer I have ever used. Its easy on the eyes, simple... not so flashy. The new computers are trying to hard to be perfect, the pismo is just great. The keyboard is a dream to type on (I don't like the new flat, spaced, slight-depression keys of my MBP), and the TRACKPAD is WAY ahead of its time. I still have played on PC laptops in stores with a worse trackpad then the pismo. I love how easy it is to access the internals for upgrades and the swappable slots are great.

Its so fantastic, I'm using it right now. With OS 9, because I just prefer that too!

And did I mention that Carrie Bradhsaw from Sex and the City used it for 6 seasons? GLAMOUR.

You know, I always wanted a Clamshell G3 iBook.
When I wanted one I couldn't afford it, and when I finally could afford it, they couldn't really run well. I've owned Powerbooks, but one day I think I might buy a Key Lime Paris G3 just to have one to play with.

I know this is an old thread, but I have to agree: Oddly, that's just about my favourite laptop of all time.

probably the iMac G4, follow by the Mac Cube. anyway every product since Jobs came back looks gorgeous!

Between the recent macs, I pick the Macbook Air... really incredible. when is on a desk, it seems it's floating on it

I second that, both the iMac G4 and that it was a great time being into Apples. Today is soo different then 2003 and earlier.
