Ok some pics from the last range session...new indoor range...the targets were moving due to some bad ventilation at the range...even so I did pretty good...some of the ones outside the silhouette are from the first shot of each loaded magazine...still getting used to double action trigger pull...

Shot 200 rounds of ball ammo (WWB and Federal)...and 10&10 rds of JHP (Speer GD and Remington GS) to test how they feed...

This M9 could easily become my favorite :D:cool::D

Cheers.

I love my Berettas. I am way more accurate with them than anything else I have. I catch a lot of flak from the Sig and Glock fans, but that's ok. At least you can always club someone to death with a 92/96. :)

Of course, I did just break down and buy my first Sig. I'll have to post pics of it.

Pick up a Luger.

You can look at a target, close your eyes, aim and fire and hit it within 25 meters like nothing else.

I've only been able to do that with my P08, it just feels natural.

Fired a few more rounds this weekend...this time at an outdoor range...here are the usual suspects plus the new M9....

Shot at 7,12,15 yards...looks like the Beretta is more accurate than my Glock 19...this was confirmed by my shooting partner...

Cheers.

I've had both also and that was my experience as well.

I think if I ever owned a gun, it would just become another ridiculously expensive hobby of mine...

Eh, I'd be okay with that. By not owning a car I save a lot of extra dough for things I don't need. :)

Too bad I'll be living in Canada my whole life! It's a fair trade, though.

Nice guns, nonetheless!

Excellent! More converts to Beretta! :)

Sometimes when I read gun boards, I think I'm the only one. Everybody seems to love Glocks, but I'm just not that big of a fan. Stupid work interfered and forced me to cancel my last range session, so I still haven't tried my Sig. I still need to post some pics of that as well.

Sorry, H&K is the way to go.

Why the Army insists on using 2nd rate guns, I'll never know. Beretta M9's and M16a3's...as opposed to pistols more resilient to arab sand and a 416...

I guess soldier's lives aren't worth an extra several-hundred dollars.

At least the Germans have their MP5's and G3's.

Ah, that's the one that came to mind ><

Though, the G3 was my favorite automatic rifle as a child. The G36 is so illusive, I have yet to come across one in person.

I can't compare it to another assault rifle, but personally I'd say it's pretty good. Accurate, light, relatively easy to service in the field and well build. Unspectacular though.

"H&K: Because you suck and we hate you"

At least that seems to be the general consensus when it comes to their opinion about selling to non-Mil and non-LEO.

I like HK, and I have been lusting after an HK USP for years. They are too steep for my budget, though. Even used they are bringing big prices. I also love the G3/HK91. I like a good, solid battle rifle. They are heavy and expensive, though. I haven't tried the G36, though.

I have a subcompact USP in .40 with an LEM trigger, and I love the way it fits my hand. It's a well balanced gun. If you go LEM, plan on getting a trigger job done - it's far too heavy from the factory, IMO.

As far as handguns go, just about every issued sidearm is easily up to the task. People argue endlessly about Glock vs 1911 vs Beretta vs SIG Sauer vs HK vs whatever else you can think of, but they are all pretty much 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. I think people get more opinionated about choosing a firearm than just about anything else. I'd trust my life to my ratty 57 year-old Tokarev just as soon as I would a new $1000 SIG. I know it works just fine, and the Tokarev design has been in use for over 100 years starting with the Browning 1903.

All the weapons I've mentioned above are combat proven, and more or less equally effective. Usually, any problems that crop up are the result of subcontractor issues, improper maintenance, or insufficient training. Unless you're talking about something like a Nambu, you'd be hard pressed to find a truly awful military handgun. The much-loved P-08 Luger is probably one of the least reliable due to it's toggle-lock design.

Two weapons that are unfashionable but every bit as good as the flavor of the month from Glock/SIG/HK etc: the Browning Hi-Power and CZ 75. Older, and a little heavy compared with polymer-framed guns, but excellent designs. And if one is extremely paranoid about fouling from mud or sand, there's always the revolver. T.E. Lawrence did just fine with his Colt SAA and Webley.
