Thank you for your contuing work on the iSight camera!

I have three of them in a box waiting to work once again!
You are welcome!
I'm glad to hear the iSight Apple FireWire Web Camera community are alive!

By the way...

I'd like to point out that the camera works fine on macOS Sonoma 14.8.2, but after updating to macOS Sequoia 15, it no longer works.

Has anyone tested it on macOS 15 or higher?

I am following this thread but I missed that iSight FireWire can work on Sonoma 14.8.2? What intervention is needed for that? I was glad to see that there are ways to get it working on Windows, but that's not interesting to me. On the other hand, any hack that would make it work on a newer MacOS would be great news!

I did nothing special with this camera to make it work on macOS 14 Sonoma, except that I updated the system cascadingly starting from the factory macOS 12 Monterey: 12 -> 13 -> 14.

What is your Mac configuration? Do you use FireWire 400 -> FireWire 800 adapter?

My Mac configuration is on the photo.
Yes, I do use standard adapter FireWire 400 -> FireWire 800 from AliExpress.
The full path is:

  1. FireWire 400 → FireWire 800 (Adapter from AliExpress).
  2. FireWire 800 → Thunderbolt 2 (official Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter).
  3. Thunderbolt 2 → Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) (official Apple Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) adapter).

OK, now I see where is the catch... you are not connecting iSight to THE REAL FireWire port. You see, normal FW connection is not recognized and it's wierd that this Thunderbolt route works. On my Mac Pro iSight is directly connected to FireWire 800 port with just FW 400 -> FW 800 adapter. And it doesn't work on any newer MacOS, let alone Sonoma.

At some point I'll snap, completely disassemble it, stick a modern Logitech USB camera into the case, and forget about the problem! ;)

In theory, everything should work for you, since you're not using this cumbersome bundle. Are all your camera functions, including the microphone and video, not working? Is it possible that your 400 to 800 adapter is faulty?
