I know I'm in the minority here, but I found Metroid Prime 1 and 2 to be spectacularly unspectacular. I couldn't be bothered to finish either one of them. I didn't think there was anything particularly innovative, and the gameplay was not very captivating on it's own.

I feel the same way about the new Zelda game, and am considering trading it in.

note: my opinion. Not saying the game is bad, just that it didn't do it for me.

Metroid Prime was the kind of game where the more hours you put in it, the more fun it becomes. I played the original for an hour or two and returned it. A friend made me play it more and I got hooked.

How far did you get on Metroid Prime?

I was always impressed by the sheer level of detail in the game; heat signatures on everything showing even warmer body parts, X-Rays showing individual bones in hands, raindrops that intensified as you looked up, water that ran off the visor, light flashes showing the reflection of your face, etc...

Your opinion is your own, but man, those are literally my top 3 favorite games of all time. :p

I played the original to about 3/4 completion, and lost interest.

Perhaps I'm simply not looking for an "immersive" experience. I found the gameplay somewhat lacking, and I'm not much of a virtual "explorer".

To each his own, but Metroid Prime 1 was almost definitely my favorite game of the last console cycle (with games like Kingdom Hearts and Zelda: Wind Waker also appearing on the list, and heck, even Burnout 3, even though it's so much different than the others).

I like Prime because it was a more of a platformer. The lock-on button made me happy after I got used to it, since I'm an advocated against thumb-aiming. It's definitely my favorite of last generation of what I played.

I played MP for a few weeks, then because of work put it down. Then a year later I beat it. I used FAQs to get through the later parts, which I'm also doing for Zelda TP to find the extras. For me it keeps the game going when I really can't spend that much time figuring it out these days. I have MP2, but have yet to play it for more than an hour and I bought it the first week it came out.

Bioshock will be a game that I'm going to avoid using any FAQ on. I'm going to devote the time needed to get into it. I'm hoping this will bring back the greatness of the first one and keep me so enthralled I won't bother looking for a quick pass. I'm waiting 75 minutes for my download to start. :(

I liked Prime 1 and 2. I was wowed at first by the atmosphere effects and just before the 2nd boss I started to get bored. Then I got hooked and never looked back. I'd stick Prime 1 up there on my Top 5.

It pushed the FPA genre (Gametrailers say they invented it, but what about Theif?) and gave us an epic first person world not seen again till Oblivion. I'd call that pretty innovative whether or not I like the game

MP1/2 is the reason I've got a Cube sat next to my Wii ( I can't be bothered taking off the panels to use the Wavebirds ).

They are definately in my top 5 games ( along with OoT, Majora's Mask, and Viewtiful Joe :) ).

Can't wait for MP:C to arrive in the UK....

Thief comes from the makers for System Shock :p and before that Ultima Underworld 1 and 2. ~i~ Ahhhhhhhh. I played them all. :)

Gametrailers is like IGN, they're a bunch of ignorant NOOBs and are clueless about anything prior to the XBox.

Blah... Rambles...

OK, I'm off to bed, it's 4:49 am here where I fester.

Oh my god, I just realised that Metroid Prime 3 is only out in the UK in October!!!  :(

Not only that, but i suppose it will be just as long till Super Metroid reaches the European virtual console too. :( I might just have to buy a SNES to play it now.

Enjoy reading all of our threads praising it between now and then :D

I wish I could pick this up on release day. Sadly I must wait until Christmas. There's a small possibility of getting it in September, but that's what it is...small.
