How are you guys testing this? Just making calls to ppl?
Yes, it’s pretty noticeable on the calls it affects. Doesn’t seem to matter if it’s a FaceTime audio call over WiFi or a cellular voice call...the issue is still there.

Good advice.

Just tried again and everything sounds good for me. Way better quality than my 6+ too. Have they improved the quality since then?
Make a few more calls to be sure. This problem is intermittent.

I’m going to get Apple to send me a new one through express replacement and hope for the best. It doesn’t look like it affects everyone. Someone was complaining on Twitter as well.

I think i hear what you guys are talking about now. It is so slight and faint that i would have never noticed it unless i was looking for it.

What is three?

I got them to send me a new one via express replacement. Charged me 29$ for some reason even though I have AppleCare plus and it’s warrenty. Put a hold for a new one until they receive old which I understand.

Edit: canceled this.

Mine on Three is absolutely fine.
It is not related to the carrier, happens over facetime audio as well. Being intermittent you may not have experienced it yet.

Keep us posted if replacement is any better.

Happening here as well on my iP8 (not plus). Hard reset does not fix the issue.

I am in the U.S. but I dial a U.S. number which broadcasts BBC World news as my test number. I just dialed this test number and toggled the speaker on and off multiple times. On the same call, sometimes the toggle fixes the issue, sometimes not. For example, I can toggle speaker on and off 10 times on the same call and reproduce the crackle in the earpiece approximately every other time.

Update: My wife just got home and it happens on her iP8 (non-plus) as well.

Yeah I don’t know if replacement will fix
[doublepost=1506177815][/doublepost]I think software update may. I don’t think it’s hardware.

I’m going to cancel my replacement request. No need to spend 30$ on a replacement and go through all the time doing all that when there’s a good chance of it happening. Maybe I’ll read up on pixel 2. I know it has b72. Apple support is about useless. Had no intention but this is rather irritating.

Canceled replacement.

Same here also. I8 Plus with ATT carrier.

What are you going to do?

I guess for
Ppl that uses the earpiece often it might be an annoyance but i think i used it only a handful of times the past year

Im always either using the speakphone or connected through the 3.5 headphone jack which i would now need to through the lightning cable

Ok, now you have me wondering. I called my own phone and immediately hear a "ticking" sound...like a fast watch ticking. Faint but I hear it. I then called the car service dealership (I knew they would be closed so they wouldn't answer), yeah the "ticking" is there also. I'm in the US, iPhone 8 Plus under AT&T.
