Anyone have a way to test this without having to call random people on your contact list?
Call your voice mail, that's at least what I'm doing.

Btw make sure you are testing the earpiece when not in speakerphone mode. In speakerphone mode there is no issue.I tried the Verizon test number (#832) and then I used FaceTime with some of the older iPhones I have laying around. No static for me. I'll keep this thread updated if I notice it in the future.

I am having this issue out of the box myself since yesterday. I’ll give the hard reset a try!I have not experienced myself, but for what it's worth, I always do a full wipe and restore before ever using the phone right out of the box. Is it crazy? Probably. Perhaps this is why I didn't experience this.

Direct from Apple's website. Yes, that is the correct solution.
Yeah, it is intermittent which makes it more difficult when it comes to reporting. Fewer reports means apple might not even bother acknowledging it. Could also be a hardware design flaw with with all the new speakers, in which case they definitely would not want to acknowledge it.I did that, funny enough this time I heard the crackling. It’s not super annoying, but it’ll definitely be noticeable. I guess I’ll just use the EarPods for calls until this is fixed.
Just tried it again twice and no crackling. Hmmm.

Just picked up my 8 plus yesterday, not even 24 hours out the box. Noticed right away, and it’s not faint neither. FaceTime, FaceTime audio, cellular, and WiFi calling all have the same affect. Hard reset did nothing, debating if I should wait it out a bit longer or just replace it.
