This beta (2.99.15) works fine but there are a couple of bugs I still see.

1. If giving icons to a lot of folders, sooner or later I end up up with a frozen device and need to reboot. Didn't figure out yet what the cause is so can't really tell what the exact bug is, lol.

2. Go into jiggle mode. Go into foldericons of any folder by pressing its button. Press the Home Button. It freezes! Happens to me in both my iPod and iPhone. They only share a 3 or 4 tweaks that have fully iOS 6 support so I blame FolderIcons.

Hope it gets fixed!

Hi all,

It's good that vertex is taking his time becos now with the signing window closed by apple with the new release 6.1.3 else if anything goes wrong we will be right and royally SCREWED BIG TIME!!!! And we are forced to upgrade to 6.1.3 :(

Why would we be forced to upgrade to un-jailbreakable iOS 6.1.3 ? :D

Why?

Hi all,

Why would we be forced to upgrade to un-jailbreakable iOS 6.1.3 ? :D

If you have ever installed a badly written tweak you will understand. Sometimes not even substrate safe mode (pressing volume up) will save you. Then it's bye bye jailbreak and hope you don't mind waiting months for a new jailbreak - in this case for 6.1.3 !!!!

I'm very confused by this - I've got a new iPad running ios6 and an iPhone 5 also on ios6. Both jailbroken with evasi0n. FolderIcons works perfectly on the iPhone, but not on the iPad.

Import doesn't work, as reported on this thread - that's fine and on both devices. On the iPhone, putting icons in the foreground or background folders, with the @2x suffix, works perfectly with FolderIcons. On the iPad it works only in background - tried all the suffix possibilities - ~ipad@2x works for background but not foreground.

In foreground - they show up as transparent - nothing visible at all on springboard. I've tried turning off other tweaks etc - turned the lot off via a a sbsettings. Nothing works. I've tried reinstalling - identical problem. The file the thread said to delete isn't anywhere to be found - searched in iFile.

Any ideas? I'd really, really like to have foreground folder icons.

Hmmm... if you install "bad" tweak you can always go to safe mode via "Volume Up" during boot and restore your phone from iTunes BackUp without updating the FirmWare...

If only that were true! Safe-mode doesn't "always" provide the solution for a boot loop, maybe reading the forum will help you to see how many people do get stuck and have to restore to an unjailbreakble firmware.

I've also realised that on the ipad, where I'm having issues with foldericons, the icons that the beta app comes with don't show either. They're not even transparent - they're just not there. Any one got any ideas on why it's so different on my two devices?

Finally, how can I ensure that an icon fills up all the space/covers the mini icons of what is inside the folder? I'm using these icons http://findicons.com/pack/754/isuite_revoked and I can see a bit of the first two icons poking out over the top which is really annoying. Can I make them invisible (without making the folder icons themselves invisible)? Or can I make the icon so that it covers them?

You need to inlcude ~ipad in the name of the icons for them to showup, for retina devices it is @2x, so for a retina iPad @2x~ipad needs to be included in the name.

To hide the icons inside the folder from showing turn of show thumbnails in the main foldericons screen.

OMG you are are right !! For iPad 3 must hv file names with @2x~iPad suffix :)

But have to reboot - DANGEROUS. Since I hv 58 high def icons I m afraid something bad may happen since it's beta :(
Better to hold on in case unrecoverable and imagine NO JAILBREAK TILL AT LEAST OCTOBER !!!!

Vertex should just continue using the old program which works perfectly on 5.1.1 just upgrade to 6.1.2 without trying to make it more fanciful with a feature to change icons at jiggly mode !! Sigh

Found a website that edits icons to the perfect size for FolderIcons. Works from Safari on iPhone too if you have Safari Download Manager and ifile installed

http://www.quirco.com/iPhoneIcon/

Thanks for the thumbnail tip - worked perfectly - not sure why I didn't see that one myself. :)

On the suffix's, though - I've done that - that's my point. On my iPhone installing foldericons results in a series of stock images showing up in foregrounds and backgrounds, and any further icons added to the folder with the correct suffixes also show up. However, on my iPad neither the stock icons nor any added icons (I've tried ~ipad@2x, @2x~ipad, @2x and ~ipad) show up properly. The @2x~ipad suffix means that the name of the icon shows up in FolderIcons (so I think the suffix is correct), but there is no image - it's entirely transparent. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as rebooting.

Any other ideas? Why won't it work on my iPad? :(

iPad 1, 2, 3 or....?

Just wondered if anybody has done it successfully but with at least 38 folders. Please let me know if it's safe i.e. when rebooted nothing serious happened. TQ

Hi all,

Any news of timeline for FolderIcons exiting the BETA and entering release status?

source of lastest version?

Hi all,

Loved this app when it worked on my old phone; hate the uniformity of the stock IOS folder look. Is anyone able to help me with sourcing the current version (beta's fine) of foldericons; the most recent one I can find on Cydia is 2.0.7 which crashed my iphone 5 everytime.

If there is a newer build that works on IOS6 would be very grateful for a pointer to it.

Thanks,

Kev

Icons not displaying

Hi everyone,

I am having problems getting my png's to appear in foldericons. I am using an iphone 5; have created various 128*128 png's with the following filenames:

Book.@2x.png
Book@2x.png
Book-568h@2x.png

No matter what variations on the naming convention I cannot get them to appear in foldericons. Also,I can see the png's using ifile in the correct directory but I cannot see the stock ones that are included with the tweak. Mobile/media/foregrounds/foregrounds

Any help really is greatly appreciated; everyone else seems to have solved this one!

Thanks in advance for any guidance

I would buy this tweak if I could. Best ever.

Don't hold your breath !!!! Been months he hasn't done anything to it !!!
He just doesn't seem to bother whether u donate (which I did !) or even if you buy !

Hope somebody more responsible step up to the plate !!!!

If the beta version is working great then why are you guys worried about a final release? Maybe the developer is tied up with something more important in his life. As for me, I am happy with the beta version. Not a single issue yet.
