I've also downloaded the patch onto transmission and i'm trying to save it on my desktop but it says i need a tracker address???? Which I have no clue about, anyone got any idea?
Cheers

I got that too but it eventually downloads by itself fine.

When I get to the match scene the game freezes... How can i resolve this problem? Regards

What mac do you have? Does it support the new game engine?

Quite phenomenal that SI still haven't made any comment whatsoever on the sudden removal of compatibility of post-patch FM09 with Tiger. Despite the information on the box, the pre-patch version worked, the demo worked and the manual stated Tiger was supported.

I don't expect an instant fix, just something saying that they acknowledge there is an incompatibility and that they do (or do not) intend to resolve it.

I hate to imitate some of the petulant hyperbole seen on the SI forum as I really love the game and can't wait to play it, but from a PR point of view they are an utter, utter shambles.

Well, they've finally given us an update. It was something along the lines of "We always try to make our games work on as many different configurations as possible, but if your system is below minimum spec then tough titties"...neglecting the fact that they hadn't made up their mind what minimum spec was before they released the game.

I suppose this is all quite accurate to the life of a football fan: Your club can serve up utter turd week-after-week, season-after-season, yet you'll still fork out £100s a year to go and watch them.

Hi

I've downloaded the full game and succesfully installed the game on my mac. I've only just converted from pc. When i start the game it says i need to put in the cd. Im use to downloading a cracked exe file to fix this on my pc. How do i do this on the mac? I've got one from the pc which work on my pc but i cant copy paste it over the original exe file on my mac... Can any one help me with this problem?

The Mac version requires the disc to play.

SI have put out a second Mac patch (9.1.1) for Tiger users, supposedly allows the game to run on 10.4.11.

And have stated they are [finally] aware of the graphics bug and are 'looking into it'

I don't believe so, not that I'm one to trust SI at the moment.

Hi everyone,

First of all I would like to clarify that the minimum OS specs for FM/WSM 2009 are as they are on the back of the box – namely 10.5.5 (Leopard) and up. It is by mistake that the manual still lists 10.4.11 (Tiger) as a supported OS. Hence we were unaware that the 9.1.0 patch disabled the game for 10.4.11 (Tiger) users.

The good news is, despite 10.4.11 (Tiger) being officially unsupported, we have fixed the startup issue and created a 9.1.1 patch which is now available. 10.4.11 (Tiger) users applying this patch will again be able to play the game.

This update will only affect 10.4 (Tiger) users – 10.5 (Leopard) users will see no difference so need not apply this update, however doing so will not harm your installation.

I would like to wholeheartedly apologise on behalf of all at SI and SEGA for this unfortunate chain of events and the angst it has caused.

Additionally, I would like to confirm that the graphical options remain unchanged in this patch, however we are hard at work to improve these in subsequent patches. This patch will not enable PowerPC Macs of either 10.4 or 10.5 to run the game, an Intel CPU is required.

Football Manager 2009

I've just installed the new football manager 2009 and its having trouble starting.

Everytime i click the icon to play it my screen just goes completely blank and the only way to get back to my screen is to turn my laptop off through the power source and then restart it.

Not sure whether i need to update my graphics?

If anyone else has had any of these problems and knows a solution i would be hugely appreciative if you could let me know.

My system is a Mac OS X 10.4.11 PowerBook G4.

Cheers

The problem is that - despite them slapping a great big Universal logo on the front of the box - the game is Intel only, and won't run on PowerPC-based Macs like your PowerBook.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but there's really nothing to suggest other than taking the game back for a refund as it simply isn't going to work on your Mac.

problem

I've installed the patch in my macbook and the consequence is that now i can see the grass in the match screen... but the computers still freezes... ny other hep? Regards

What? Can SI Games actually get any more useless?

Minimizing the game

Is there a way to minimize the game when playing it?

i find I have to quit each time i quickly want to do something on my laptop!

Yes there is an option for "Windowed Mode." Find the Game Options menu and fish around and you should be able to find it. I've only played the demo but it is in there somewhere.

Hello there.

I've got the new FM2009 in cheeky fashion (I am currently broke) but I've no clue on Earth how to install the thing!

If someone could help me out it'd be massively appreciated.

Regards.

Whoah... steady on there. ;)

What you're doing should work, but as it isn't maybe try moving the training file to another location and importing it from there?

You could maybe try putting the file in username/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/schedules and see if that gives you any joy.

I assume your 'cheeky fashion' is to get your hands on a pirated copy – such things are viewed pretty dimly here, and discussing how to do so is against forum rules – so please don't ask us how to go about doing it.

Hey Jaffa, I've installed the demo version on my Powerbook and it runs just fine (well, the graphics are a bit herky-jerky). In fact I've already started OGC Nice on their way to the Champions League. ;)

Do you think the non-demo version wouldn't in fact work for me?

I must admit to being a bit baffled. All the stuff I've read from SI (including the statement pknz quotes a little earlier in this thread) states that an Intel processor is required, PowerPC Macs won't run it at all. Maybe, for some reason, the demo was Universal but for some technical reason or something they made the full-release Intel-only. Strange.

If I've been wrong and have been doling out dodgy information, my apologies.

EDIT: I've just been looking on their forum and in a thread on system specs they state...

Mac System requirements
The game is currently only being supported on Intel Mac's only, and the minimum requirements are - OSX 10.5.5, Nvidia Geforce 7300 / ATI X1600 Radeon. 1GB RAM.

Bizarre.
