Keeping in mind that Vertu is dying as a brand, I take that to mean wealthy people prefer to buy an iPhone even though it's not the most expensive phone they could buy. Apple has managed to achieve one thing - make an expensive, aspirational gadget that people will justify buying even if they technically can't afford it.

You need to get out more if you think a $1000 phone is a status symbol and only popular among wealthy people.

What if you are a millionaire who must have hi-def audio? You go out and buy an LG V30 with quad-dac and support for AptX HD and LDAC bluetooth codecs. And really nice over-ear headphones. But the guy must be poor because he rolls with a lowly LG phone, lol. I'm not wanting to start an audio quality debate, just stating a point. As everyone has been saying, it *really* isn't hard to buy the X, regardless of one's financial situation.

Thank you all for your replies, but I just want to make sure I made my thoughts clear.

I'm not saying that the iPhone X is for people who make a certain income or have a certain net worth at all. Anyone who can afford it, can use it, and obviously you don't need more than the monthly payment to get one.

What I AM asking, if there's data out there, is what is the smartphone choice of millionaires? Meaning which smartphone do millionaires buy most?

MY GUESS: IPHONE X

@aakshey @BasicGreatGuy @Hastings101 @nviz22 @Relentless Power @tonybarnaby @Clix Pix @mrkramer @acorntoy @Fthree @rui no onna @Newton's Apple

In most cities, if you own your own home, you're a millionaire. It's like middle class, not super rich.

not sure why the iphone x is related with wealth

the average millionaire likely could rock with an iphone 6 who knows. Alot may not have any interest in tech

Most cities? And by own are we talking about fully paid off without any mortgage?

$1,000,000 isn’t what it used to be.

I was thinking more like $3,000,000 minimum when writing this post.

Bottom line: smart phones in general regardless of the cost do not constitute someone’s overall status in society or wealth.

I can see your point.

But I can also understand a millionaire wanting the best smartphone for various reasons that HELP them manage their millionaire life.

For example, if you’re hanging out with models you may want the best camera. iPhone X camera is amazing.

Or the best screen to view the pics you took with models. That iPhone X OLED is also amazing.

Maybe you do banking with your millions sometimes on your smartphone. So you choose the smaller form factor with the large screen, which is iPhone X as opposed to maybe iPhone 8 Plus.

Idk just sayin

OP do you really have any doubts that millionaires are opting for the iPhone X over other iPhone's in the lineup? Feels like an obvious answer.

Unless you want a wider screen and more battery life, I reckon most millionaires upgrading or getting iPhone's for the first time since last fall have purchased the X.

Obviously you DON’T know. Many — most — wealthy people have trusted personal assistants who handle all the day-to-day stuff and they have other trusted personnel who deal with their financial matters, so Mr Gotbucks isn’t going to be using his iPhone or any smartphone to deal with “managing his millionaire life.” He (or she) will have “people” to handle all that.

If someone is “hanging out with models,” chances are they aren’t going to be taking photos of those models unless they are also a photographer and also have been given permission to do so.....and again, an iPhone is probably not going to be the tool of choice. It may include a very good smartphone camera but it is far from being “the best camera.” Real photographers use real cameras. Just sayin’......

I know plenty of wealthy clients with the iPhone 5S. A lot of people just don’t bother to upgrade unless it’s broken or grossly out of date. That’s because all they use it for is to call people to do stuff for them, and look at calendars and emails. Probably a news app or two. These people also don’t bother with Facebook. Twitter maybe. LinkedIn probably. Facebook no.

In one word NO! Most rich people don’t waste their money on iPhones, they’ll have something that they get on with and it works and then keep it for ages, they spend their money on luxury holidays, big houses, cars, yachts, etc etc.
I work for a circa 40 billion dollar corporation, I haven’t seen a single person with an X, my sister earns a lot and she has a 6S, she’s the last person to buy an X, and I don’t know anyone who she knows who has an X.

So your barking up the wrong tree if your opinion is that of rich people in society all buy iPhone X’s, it is not and never will be a status symbol or a symbol of wealth end off.
“A X” not “An X” as X is “ten”

“An ten”

Had to do this! Lol!

I don't see why a millionaire wouldn't be taking pictures with models he takes to the club or asking the waitress to when they go on dinner dates.

Or why he wouldn't login to his bank accounts if he wanted to using an app.

It's not like a young millionaire isn't necessarily going to be uninterested in what his cash is doing or showing off his grand lifestyle.

Maybe he enjoys managing his own life instead of a personal assistant doing it for him?

I think I saw a pic of Trump driving a rolls royce one time on google. No driver. Maybe he enjoys the experience of driving the car himself?

Probably just depends on the guy.

Again, why would one need an iPhone X for this? Most rich clients I have use older iPhones, except for one who used an 8+. Some use Android simply because they prefer it. Just because they have money to burn does not mean they burn it. The only reason why I see that you're posting this is that you want to look rich because you use an iPhone X.

I don’t believe a person is necessarily rich bc of their possessions.

For example, you can lease a luxury car for only a few hundred bucks a month.

A lot of fancy things can be bought on a credit card.

To me, I believe someone is truly rich by their career.

And not the traditional lawyer/doctor. Those come a dime a dozen.

To me, true riches are through successful business, tech entrepreneur maybe, actors and actresses, pro athletes.

And that’s assuming they haven’t blown through their money and/or are in debt.

An iPhone X certainly doesn’t make one look “rich” lol

Why are you so fixated on what you fantasize as a millionaire's lifestyle?

Curious

Who cares? I used to know someone that lived in a dump and drove a very very expensive car. Pretty much anyone who really wants it can buy an X. Some rich people don't show it.

This is hilarious, in a long line of hilarity from this poster.

If a person is truly wealthy and busy, they have assistants, not a cell phone to handle their schedule. Otherwise it’s all calendar appointments which is exactly how all of us use our phones for scheduling.
