To those of you who ordered after March 3, WHY are you guys complaining?

As someone who ordered a 3.06 ATI iMac on ANNOUNCEMENT DAY, March 3rd, 2009, mine won't be shipped until April 14, 2009.

Count the days... That's 43 DAYS!!

Now count your days.

Is it less?

If so, PLEASE stop complaining. I've been following this thread daily with joy since its existence and ever since Dan's post, I have not enjoyed this thread.

If you waited 2 weeks after March 3 to order, expect to wait 1.5 weeks longer than myself and everyone else who ordered on March 3. You're not going to cut in front of us... next time I hope you'll place your order on announcement day rather than spend 2 weeks thinking about it and then complain that you have to wait 1.5 weeks longer than the charter orders.

Ok, folks maybe to settle some things here, I called Apple and discussed the fact that my order shows 3 to 5 weeks compared to 7-10 business days if ordered today. She got her Supervisor on this and here is the result.

They said that there is no way that someone who placed a order today will get their iMac before someone who has already has a existing order pending. This simply would not be fair. They said keep a eye on your order status and within 7 days, maybe 10 days from today I should see some change in my status. It could ship as early as 14th but no guarantees. So since i was given a original date of shipping May 5th , if I get it shipped anytime in April I would be happy. Hope this helps everyone.

This sounds just as it should be and good to get a confirmation from :apple:

Sorry to have ruined your enjoyment.

This is the last I'm going to post on the subject. I'm actually getting fed up with it now.

Placed my order on the 7th of march (was actuall 3rd but had to wait for the finance arrangements to clear) delivery est. 5th May. I think that works out at
59 days. Was I justified in "ruining" this thread?

Dan, read the post above.... You will get it much sooner than indicated... Me, I am going to watch "House M.D. as we all now know that, in the end, Apple will ship first to those who ordered the 4850 the earliest.

I love the show! Don't really like last episode though.

Let's hope we all get our iMac soon, shouldn't be too long from now. :D

Ok so I have a question regarding Applecare for us 4850 people.

If we ordered the 4850 with applecare, is it auto-enroll, and does the auto-enroll start from the day you ordered everything, or the day it ships? Or the day it's delivered?

Just wondering b/c we lose 1.5 months of applecare if it's from order date, which I hope it's not!

Dan,

I don't know if you are hard-headed, but it appears that you are just not getting it. Your iMac will be here soon. You will not have to wait until 5 May. Please sit back, relax, and then get excited, because your brand new iMac with a kick-butt graphics card will be here soon. And I bet you are going to have a great time with it.

Now let's get this thread back on-track and let's get excited about the shipments....which certainly seem imminent.

from 4-6 weeks to 3-5 weeks to 7-10 days, I think this is Apple's way of telling us they are ready... like, RIGHT NOW.

I think 10.5.7 will come out between tomorrow and next Tuesday, and the day the it does, the 4850's will immediately start shipping.

this is my theory.

and dan, sorry, 59 days does sound awkward. Are you in the U.S.? if not, I think that's why/who Apple is confusing customers.

100% agree with your analysis of the 2 revisions to the days til shipment...these suckers will be sent out on time!!! :D

After charging my card when I ordered, then doing a refund (not sure why), they have now charged my card again. I hope this means they are getting ready to ship.

I'm writing Apple now to ask that get Dan his iMac asap before he passes away from a heart attack.

Wish me luck. And I won't consider myself a hero if I save a life. I feel like anyone in my shoes would do the same.

You know I heard rumors that it is from the date you ordered it, which would not be fair to us since we have to wait for the 4850 and maybe they will make an adjustment for us. What I would do is contact Apple the minute you get the iMac and activate the AppleCare and then ask if it is possible to reset the start date for us pre-order people. Remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil in most cases but not always. ;)

Here is a quote I seen on the apple site. It states from the purchase date, which I think is the order date, not ship date or delivery date. So you will need to talk with Apple about adjusting that date for the AppleCare to see if that is possible. I would not bother with asking for a discount for AppleCare as it is only appx $4.69 monthly for the warranty. Which is a pretty good investment if you ask me.

Here is what Apple says.

Purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan to extend your service and support to three years from your computer’s purchase date. Only the AppleCare Protection Plan provides you with direct telephone support from Apple technical experts and the assurance that repairs will be handled by Apple-authorized technicians using genuine Apple parts. For more information, visit Apple support or call 800-823-2775.

Finally Apple updating sites. Thats mean today start to shipping. Yey!!!

Cal them up.... I believe you have to enter the serial number of your iMac in order to activate the coverage. I for one would assume it is from the day shipped not ordered. If I am wrong, call them and have them adjust it. I am sure they will.

Hmm I realized after I asked the question about applecare that everyone has 1yr of warranty anyway so it's advantageous of everyone to call in for the extra ~40 days of coverage.

Once I receive mine I'll give them a call and I doubt I'll run into any problems since it's rather ridiculous for them to not acknowledge that it's rather dumb to have it start from order date for us 4850'ers.

with the apple store being down, I'd predict 2TB TC refresh and probably an Xerve refresh or whatever that thing is! As much as I want to say it has something to do with our precious orders, it probably don't :(

Xserver refresh, no change in my order...

We'll have just to wait till the first ones are delivered ;)
